I think Ollie is done anyway. Too many years of bash and crash and finds it hard to stay injury free. Could imagine why Port don't want to pay him big bucks any more.
-
Think JJ did a number of tagging jobs this year.
-
Not going to give them away on a fan forum! However, my brother knows a few people at Hemisphere Management...
-
I kinda like it! Sure he looked ordinary at times in his seven games this year but maybe we think he is ready? Certainly has the build maybe not the tank. And maybe our attitude is if you're going to go for a tall forward why not get the most talented youngster out there? Invest in the best?
-
Not sure if mentioned, but apparently we're into Aaron Cadman! Contracted to the end of 2024 if that means anything.
-
To be fair, he didn't have much to work with. Houston had a good year but the rest of the backline, including the overrated Allir Allir are strugglers. Forward line lacks quality personnel as well. Bit like our supporters blaming Stafford for our forward woes when we can't get our forwards on the park. And when we do, the mids sit it on the forwards heads.

If I was Norf I'd put some pressure on the Dogs and see if they want to give up a first rounder for father son, Jordan Croft, another tall.

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
dee-tox replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Had a look at this game. Wasn't really impressed with Curtin. I'm not sure he is a natural midfielder and there wasn't too much of that elite disposal that we've heard about. If anything his kicks are a bit up and under and plenty of loopy handballs. But he moves well, gets in the right place and is a great size. -
Ah, no! This is a guy that kicked 0.7 in a VFL game! Most Hawk supporters know he is nowhere near the standard.

Curtin will go 2 you'd imagine given the Roos need tall blokes and Hawks need pure mids so McKercher logically goes there. I still think we get Duursma.
-
We brought Fagan over from Tassie to be an assistant coach so have to support the Lions. Then again there's the Zorko factor... Pies will win unfortunately.

Incompetence or bias is not a conspiracy.
-
The number of AFL supporters that think there is an overall conspiracy going on is ridiculous. I know it is comforting but is it is lazy and dumb.
-
Exciting if true. Begs the question though why extend to 2029 and meet other clubs?
-
Also the height of their midfielders gives them an advantage in marking contests. That was a big factor for the Giants in the second quarter. I worry we have too many midgets. Viney, Spargo, Kozzie, Chandler, Laurie, Bowey, etc. That's one third of our team and one of the reasons I'm not so keen on drafting Watson.

Was finished two years ago.

It is horrendous. Taylor cannot string three words together. For Brayshaw every kick is a 'ball'. Hodge sounds stoned. Danger is a plonker.
-
The list has to keep improving. This year we saw some improvement from JvR, Chandler and McVee. Rivers stepped up and Laurie at least played a few games. Petty made the transition forward. Viney had a great year. That was offset by Oliver, May, Lever, Fritta, Spargo, Kozzie and Gawn having poorer seasons. Injuries to nearly all our major forwards. Langdon, Harmes, Jordon and Salem seemed to decline. We'll need further improvement in 2024. How we do that is to be determined. New recruits, drafting, development, fitness, gameplan, luck, confidence, coaching, etc. It will be the sum of all parts.

How do players lose the skill of kicking straight?
dee-tox replied to Mel Bourne's topic in Melbourne Demons
Little off topic but watched the girls play Saturday. One thing that struck me is their preparedness to share the ball in the forward 50. Was fantastic. That was a hallmark of our team in 2021. We have lost that. Number of times guys like Gawn, Petracca, Pickett and Fritta all have a low percentage ping from around 50 was disturbing. Share the ball and better goal kicking will result. -
Garry Lyon tells Demons to "suck it up"
dee-tox replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Fair bit of shoot the messenger in this thread. It is not the role of a journalist or commentator to protect his or her of old club. That is delusional. When you lose four finals in a row you will get heavily criticised. Some criticism will be warranted. Some will be off the mark. Just like this website. And I would back posters on Demonland to know more about their team than some of the 1,800 accredited journalists! For what it's worth I'm a believer in things usually are not as good nor as bad as they seem.- 63 replies
