WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - ANGUS BRAYSHAW
Demon_JB replied to ashdemons22's topic in Melbourne Demons
During the trade period last year, I was DYING to trade picks 2 and 3 to Adelaide for Dangerfield.. Now, as good as Danger is, seeing Brayshaw doing what he has done in his first year and Petracca still on the wings, I am glad we held onto those picks and went into the draft. -

I'll tell you what, if the roles were reversed and Melbourne had pick #1, St Kilda #2 and #3 and we had of drafted McCartin, there would have been articles everywhere how we had potentially screwed up another pick. -
The Arrogance of James Kelly (2010)

To be fair, I wrote t e s t i c l e initially but it was censored lol -
I was having a read on big footy on the geelong post match discussion forums, a lot of people suggesting they should go after Gawn due to their thin rock stocks through injury and on the back of his recent performances. I think that club are targeting every player in this years upcoming trade period..

Jokes on him anyway, he ruptured his ball sack -
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-06-23/team-of-the-week-round-12 Team of the week featuring 6 Melbourne players.. Can you guess who before opening the link

This ^^ Everyone I was with at the footy was saying the exact same thing.. On SEN this morning they were saying Roosy didn't have enough time to get the message out to the players..Rubbish.. When Howe took that mark, Roosy should have been on the phone, message out and the runner out to every single player to spread the word like the plague to flood back and the time left if he had of kicked the goal. I am furious

Delistings/trades at end of the season

Don't forget Polec at Port also -
Me too lol. Fitz stays in the team for me after reading this. IN: Tyson, Viney, Jetta OUT: M.Jones, Bail, Newton

IN: Viney, Tyson, Jetta OUT: Bail. M.Jones, Fitzpatrick (Harsh, but don't seen the need for an extra tall against Port)

You watch HL play, whenever he has the ball and gets tackled he throws his weight and body around like a fish out of water and majority of the time gets his arms free to fire off a handball to a team mate. Very good stuff.

We got benell ahead of Sloane that year..

Friend of mine at the start of the year said Sloane will be going to St Kilda before ANY of this news came to the surface. I didn't believe him until now.

The Rising Star Thread - Congratulations Jesse Hogan!

Petracca to win it in 2016 -
Fremantle use every opportunity when they play at the G as finals preparation. They have limited opportunity in actually playing at the Mcg. For us to be within 4 goals at half time just by looking at the stats I think is a fair achievement.
-
0 tackles inside our forward fifty for the game. 11 to Fremantle. Pretty alarming stat.
-
I don't want to steer this thread towards Jack Watts but would anyone right now trade Watts for Gibbs? Easy to forget that Gibbs won Carlton best and fairest last year
-
Doggies looking good. Still got libba to come back as well.
-
Henderson.. 0 marks 0 kicks 0 handballs 1 tackle.. Donut game.. Lmao

Honestly, I'd rather cut ties now and do a valuable trade that suits us, than wait until he becomes a restricted / unrestricted free agent and get compensation. Remember the article featuring roos in which he mentioned clubs would look at trading players before free agency to get more currency? Something I can definitely see happening. If there is any doubt in the players willingness in wanting to be at this club, we will do our due diligence to ensure we move them on when the time is right.

I absolutely love Hogan and really believe he is going to be a star and elite key forward. However, gone are the days where you would recruit a young player and think to yourself 'gee this guy is going to be our marque player, we found one here' The way the game is now, the thought that dampens the future of our stars is whether or not they will just demand to go home when their contract is up and be forced to accept a trade because of that.. I'm not saying Hogan will do this. I just miss the days where players had less of a say with where they would end up and you could appreciate landing and holding onto a star player and building a team around him rather than the thought of losing him.
