  1. Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't depression and anxiety go hand in hand? If he was told the best way to deal with his depression would be to move on from Melbourne and play for another club.. I don't see how that would be a positive move in terms of someone dealing with this illness. If anything the speculation and the media spot light is now smack-bang in the middle of Mitch Clark which would make someone suffering from depression a lot worse with the anxiety it comes with...Reporters and sporting legends ridiculing Clark saying it's disgusting how he can simply walk away from the club and not repay the faith we entrusted in him just piles on top of the anxiety Mitch must be feeling...Not only that, but EVERY Twitter message he posts or Instagram picture the public are either having a go at him or backing him in... It's an absolute basket case what is happening... For his manager and himself to come out and say he wants to return to footy but not at Melbourne.. to me is simply the complete OPPOSITE way of going about someone dealing with depression.
  2. Everyone remember when he was the whipping boy for us and we all wanted to trade him to Essendon? This gives me faith that any player has the ability to turn it around and become a great player if they have the mind-set and willing to work. Lets hope Jones stays on and encourages everyone to turn it around like he did!
  3. I immediately feel sick to my stomach knowing we picked Toumpas over Wines when Ollie was living with Todd Viney and best mates with Jack....
  4. It's clear he wants to play finals footy.. If you follow his twitter, every second post was "I love Finals Footy" or "How good is September!" Him sitting there, realising he is doing absolutely nothing would have re-ignited his passion in playing footy especially in September. I would bet on it he won't be playing for Melbourne, but a club pushing for finals and we will get graciously compensated for it due to the amount of money we injected into him, care and support as well as 1st rounder we gave up for him.
  5. Pick 3 for T.Mitchell & Zac Jones? IN: Pick2 (Petracca), T.Mitchell, Z. Jones Out: Pick 3 They can then use Pick 3 on someone like Wright who I think Sydney are in need for a young ruckman who they could develop. We are also getting in Nathans younger brother to move back in Melbourne and provide Nathan a big reason to not walk out on the Dees next year come free agency as an insurance plan.
  6. ^^ This exactly. Which is why it frustrates me that people can put up trade suggestions like "Pick 2 for Treloar and a 3rd Rounder" .... Why would GWS trade their gun proven AFL player who is young and has the potential to be a future A-grade star of the game ALONG with a 3rd rounder for pick number 2 on a bloke who is a current star in an under 18's competition? Not to mention giving up on a bloke who has had a few years in the system and taking more steps backwards in offloading him for a player who has had no years in the system. Get real some of you.
  7. Get used to it bud.. We are a struggling club that's trying to improve each week and we are trying to learn how to win out games. Unfortunately for us we are in such a defensive mind set under Roos we are timid in taking the game on, trying to win the game by negating the opposition from scoring in the last quarters. However enter our turn overs and skill errors which then gift teams goals which consequently drops our confidence and allows teams to then pile on goals, over take our margin and win games. We will improve on this year by year, so those games that 'might have been won' this year, 1/4 of those WILL be won next year. The year after 1/2 of those games. We can't hope for drastic improvement overnight, you might be sulking and annoyed that those were winnable games and annoyed about how I say 'we should have beaten' but the fact of the matter is Beats, those games 1-2 years ago were NEVER winnable to begin with. Let's be at least a little optimistic in seeing multiple games where the game could have been won.
  8. We should have beaten: St Kilda Bulldogs (Twice) Port Adelaide (Twice) Gold Coast (Questionable) Brisbane That's 7 extra games we could have won if we learn to close out last quarters and turn our attitude into a winning one, in total that's 11 games that could have been won - for us we would have been very happy with that. Unfortunately for us as demon supporters and in life in general, the negatives stick out more than the positives. And when it pours, it rains for the Melbourne FC. I strongly believe with another strong drafting period & pre season those winnable games that could have been this year, will be won next year.
  9. I know he isn't experienced but could Peter Wright come into fruition in the draft then? Not only can ruck but can find the footy, play forward and is a great kick. Might be a versatile player that could be highly beneficial in the long term.
  10. Sorry mate, I meant Kevin Sheehan.. National Talent Manager
  11. Just ran into Kevin Sheehan at a Cafe. Reckons Petracca will go at number 1. Apparently he will be too good to pass up and isn't a risk when drafting. Will be an A-grade for sure.
  12. Just on Deak Kent, I know he isn't tall but what are people's thoughts on giving him a run and more time in the midfield? He reminds me of a lot like Dayne Zorko. Just reckon if he can build more match fitness we could use his pace and willing to take the game on more often around the ground.
  13. As long as we don't go recruiting a whole bunch of second tier free agents which ultimately dilutes the Frawley free agency compensation pick then I'm for a list change. The culture and list smells of failure and the past, we need to rectify this and bring in as many fresh new faces that will have an immediate impact but a positive one. Mark Neeld tried to do this but ultimately failed (Terlich, M. Jones, Gillies, Pederson, Byrnes, Rodan, Clark, Dawes, Toumpas(?). A few of those we can let slide, however ultimately it was a new list that didn't change anything except having to change it again. However, Roos made the first step in the clean out as a positive one recruiting players who actually HAD a positive impact in Cross, Tyson & Vince. If he can achieve what he did last year but on a more extreme level in more player cuts and acquisitions, I'm excited in seeing what happens!
  14. I never really get emotional or overwhelmed with players leaving .. But hypothetically if Jones walked as a free agent I think this scenario would crush me.
  15. Is it just me, or has Kelly played his two BEST games for the year against us? The first one he won a rising star from it.. Honestly, rating first year players against Melbourne is a complete waste of time. Why do you think that players win rising star awards against us? We are a team that possess a number one goal and that is to try to improve week by week. Which is why we let young players off the hook to gather up easy disposals and have the time to make strong decisions and provide them with that confidence early within that game which eventuates into an awesome game. Look at Devon Smith.. he absolutely CARVED it up against us but I have never seen him play a game like that against any other side this year. For some of you on here who are comparing Tyson to Kelly and are saying 'Oh, Kelly is one to influence a game unlike Tyson' are completely delusional. For the ONE exception in Nathan Jones over the years and years of misery supporting the Melbourne Football Club, he is the ONLY player that has taken his game to a consistent level and flourished within a very poor structured side that fails to develop players due to the difficulty it is in playing alongside team mates who struggle which the basics (handball, kicking, marking and converting). THEN you have someone in Dom Tyson who will nearly take out our best and fairest and has played consistently well within his FIRST YEAR at the club... And then you have a post like this.. If we didn't have Tyson playing for us in the Red & Blue I can guarantee you we would NOT have won the game against Adelaide, Richmond & Essendon.
  16. As much as I'd want this to happen, I don't think the AFL will allow GWS to constantly trade out their players for draft picks after a few years of development. At this rate, GWS are constantly going to be trading out and trading in players and will eventually become such a repetitive cycle they will have no continuity or any form of player development or security at the club. They need to hang on to their players they draft so they can turn into real leaders and players instead of trading out and bringing in the next years future talent. I bet GWS are fuming they gave up Dom Tyson to us especially with how he has played this year. If they had hung onto him for another 3 years imagine what he will be capable of? Which I think what will happen with players like Shiel and Jaksch. If there were to trade, it would be for immediate talent and leadership, not for young kids who are yet to debut in the AFL.
  17. There would have to be some agreement and confirmation that GWS would be in fact taking Petracca & Brayshaw at picks 1 & 2 in order for the Bulldogs to trade a player / picks for our pick 3. They wouldn't consider it based on the fact that they MIGHT think GWS wouldn't take McCartin.
  18. I wouldn't look at a trade option as black and white as that..Personally I would think as a team we would benefit of having someone like Casboult in the side over Watts in terms of structure. Think of when we didn't have Chris Dawes playing.. He can't take a mark, is an average kick, but without him in the side we had to mix up our backline, didn't have any options going forward and couldn't take a mark inside fifty to save us. What happens if Dawes gets hit again with another injury, we don't have James Frawley anymore and we just have Hogan who is playing in his first year of AFL and possibly Jamar/Max Gawn down in our forward line. What happens then? Think of a trade like Watts to Casboult on a more higher end level than just 'vomitting' because one is a good user by foot and the other isn't....
  19. Jack Watts to Carlton for Levi Casboult. (No rumor in it whatsoever, just pondered on my mind this morning) Something you would consider? I personally would.
  20. Looks like a very smart footballer. Doesn't panic, and draws his opponent whilst looking for the best opportunity to deliver the ball from half back. Always moving when he has his hands on the ball using evasive techniques. Excited.
  21. Honestly, having Jordie Mckenzie in the midfield tagging removes the the opportunity of winning clearances. He is so hell bent on stopping his opponent from winning the ball he ever rarely watches the ball being tapped from from either our ruckman or opposing ruckman.
  22. Unfortunately you have to trade your picks before the actual draft...
  23. If Sydney end up landing Frawleys signature, I'LL SPEW UP!
  24. You'll find it's because that 1.7 clanger a game usually results in a score from a turnover, which in turn then stands out more than a normal clanger that doesn't result in anything but just a turn over further up the ground.. Ablett will have more clangers because he has more clearances, he will get boot to ball to kick it out of congestion only to land in the hands of an opponent. It's like a heart surgeon making that one big mistake that sticks out at work as someone died, versus someone who makes more errors but those errors are less damaging.
