we have 2 years now to push hard for the finals. It really is on teh club to make finals, capitalise on talent we have and get the club out of the mediocrity of mid table. The club cannot expect players to stay in a side that has delivered sweet f all in terms of success. Build it and they will come (and stay)

Yep it more than likely is, which is such a shame.

I know there are possible salary cap reasons, but i just cant understand why teh pursuit of Phillips hasn't been stronger. Recently we have identified needs, Lever, May, Langdon and now Brown, but its not complete, and i know Phillips isn't Keith Grieg or Robbie, but neither is Langdon, but he knows how to play teh wing, is competent with ball in hand, attacking and would provide outlet kicks for us. like Langdon did. I think its terribly disappointing that the entire footy world can see he would be a great addition, yet the club seems not to have done a lot about it. Just my Opinion.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN

So there can only be one reasonable assumption why this has not already been completed, North are digging in, they see us as weak and going to try and bend us over. This should have been done by now, the posturing and the theater really is pathetic at times. -

Trade week is just a giant d!*k swinging contest that only further shines the light on egotistical media and manager types that live in a constant state of over exposure and self adulation. I hate it. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN

Im finding this trade period incredibly frustrating. -
Really should be nothing more than a pick in the 70s.. its security, cheap security so that we dont throw Jackson to the wolves for another year. Smart and nothing to get stressed about IMO.
-
Maybe Phillips doesnt want to come to us but if we are not having a big go at him then its another bad decision. St Kilda last year identified what they needed.. they went and got it.. I hope we are into him.

Operation Tom Phillips.
-
Sensible contract for a player nearing teh end but think he has another good year in him. He really did have a solid year and that's what you want from him, rarely beaten, attacking and urgent. great backman assets.

This is great and no reason at all to dispute any of it. Brodie Smith would be a fine get with Smith as well, both can run and are 100m players. Osacr Swap for Hind would be perfect. Tom to the Bombers would be great, not because i dont like them both, but they deserve another go, and sometimes things just happen, they are both not the future for us. Vanders is an interesting one, love his toughness and aggression but is that all he offers? Interesting times ahead.

Lets hope he can workout how the mids should set up in the Centre.. its critical.

Look that's a really good point, i am only going from what i have and probably many have heard, im not sure what you are alluding to and dont want to know and im not being smart. Whatever the case, i hope he is ok.

I find this incredibly sad for a young man having done a lot of work to get into a position to land a senior job. Mental health does not discriminate, its had a big affect on my family and i know the battles it comes with. Its a timely reminder for lots of us to check in on mates... it absolutely costs nothing to ask if someone is going ok. Hope Rhyse finds the balance in his life he needs to get better.

Nothing sums of the journo industry like a "Journo" shutting down rumours of a player leaving which was started by a journalist saying there are rumours player is unhappy. Its actually unbelievable.

Officially requested a trade to Bulldogs. i feel a bit sad about this, liked him. But this is life, if Goodwin didnt play him, then fair enough and we have a few of his types.

Its not Pretty ordinary at all.. i would say its pretty good. Not amazing and the best.. but it is far from "pretty ordinary"
-
Well i think you might be massively underrating them, but like you say, each to their own.
-
I think they will be in real flag contention, if not next year, the year after, they have got pillars on every line they are young and will develop beautifully. They have a very well balanced, list, great talls, good mediums, good smalls, really good contested footy players, pace and well coached.

St Kilda are fast becoming a very well managed Football club.. they are giving us windburn as they go past us. They identify what they need and they act, swiftly and with out fuss.
-
I hope he stays.. he showed more grit and desire in his 6 games than Melksham did all year. Hunt 6 games - 10 goals Melksham 17 games - 15 goals. I was really disappointed in Melksham this year, did so many silly things. Hunt has some x-factor. Hope he stays.

The thing that St Kilda did well was they went and recruited a set, a set they needed to improve their side and fill their needs. They needed outside run, they got Hill, they needed a inside player, they h=got Jones, they need a ruckman, they got Ryder, they needed a defensive key, they got Marshall. We did to a degree with Langdon and Tomlinson, but Tomlinson has not worked... we need to bit the bullet, we need to get a tall Fwd and some more runners. No Mucking around, we just have to do it, get Smith, or Phillips, and get Brown. Huge month coming up for the club.. Smith may want another flag, going to get that at Geelong before us, Phillips is Langdon.. so why not throw everything at him, Brown takes the best defender, teh best tall defender, allows Weid more freedom. Just get him. I understand its all dependant on other clubs wanting Tom and what we get for Pruess and thats fair enough.

What could be the flow on affect with this. It will have one for sure. Do they Giants now go after Ben Brown, does this force Geelong into losing a player or 2? Very interesting times.
-
You have done well to work that out from the broadcast, especially since Oliver was wearing a mask..Viney wasn't in Melbourne. Max and Clayton were. Hard to sit with each other.
-
Its all just absolute nonsense.. this would have to be the poster child for nonsense trade talk that snowballs into mass hysteria. Oliver is not going anywhere, does not want to leave, club would not entertain the idea of trading him. Oliver was grumpy towards the end of the year and a bit frustrated, he is driven and to be fair is probably on the selfish side, BnF results, All Aus, Brownlow any accolades are important to him, some people value that, others dont. Mclure started this with a flippant, inaccurate comment about him being unhappy at the club and put little context around it.. its since spread and now the most over rated germalist in Barrett is fueling the fire with a ridiculous comment in his grade 3 level article on the AFL site today. Saying Carlton want Oliver is like saying Melbourne want Martin.. of course they want him, and they would have asked the question. Oliver will be red and blue in 2021 and i believe beyond.
