  1. one win is all it took ...
  2. Jack Watts' output for MFC has been disappointing, but MFC input to Jack Watts has been more disappointing. He has needed guidance to realise his talent. Could he have landed at a more dysfunctional club than ours? It would have been fascinating to see if he started at Hawthorn, Geelong, Sydney or West Coast. It seems as though we've got our development in order now and we have a competitive list so Jack now has a level playing field.
  3. I hate the rule, but it should have been a free against Hodge for diving at the player's legs. We had one paid against us on Saturday. It sucks.
  4. We "stacked the backline" which was good but we had no-one versus 3 Giants in our forward line, the absolute best outcome we could get was another stoppage, if we went forward at all it was a turnover.
  5. My favourite moment was when Jack got (slightly) injured in a genuine contested marking crunch. Leigh Matthews enjoyed the taste of his own blood.
  6. Champion Data stats say GWS had 98 interchanges. The cap is 90. In such a close game thats important. They were not the only team to exceed. Whats the penalty?
  7. I guess there is the appeal so he's sticking to the "not guilty" line while that is in progress.
  8. I don't have Foxtel and didn't see the Heppell interview but I'm confused by the reporting of his position in the news. On one hand Heppell says he knows what he was given and that is was all OK but on the other hand he says he feels let down by the club?
  9. Mumford, Ward, Shiel, Greene, Griffen, Whitfield, Scully, Kelly, Coniglio Gawn, N.Jones, Tyson, Viney, Vince, Brayshaw, Vandenberg, Oliver, Bugg Their midfield is a bit better and bats a bit deeper than ours currently.
  10. Very big match for both sides.
  11. Best 22 is a moot point because there are always injuries - Brayshaw and VDB are out at the moment, but it will be someone else some other time. I have Trengove at his best ahead of 6 players in the NAB3 24 ahead of Kent, Grimes, Bugg, Kennedy, Harmes, M.Jones - so at his best that puts him clearly in for me.

  13. I think the dynasty is being built on BBBP's late pick genius: 2008 51 Nev Jetta 2009 34 Max Gawn 2010 53 Tom McDonald
  14. Yes high press relies on zoning - because that's what it's about. But it doesn't specifically highlight one-on-ones and skills more than any other structure. Man-on-man highlights one-on-ones moreso. And your "skills" example - Garland's miskick was nothing to do with High press.
  15. Why does the high press "highlights the skill level of your backmen in one-on-one contests, zoning and when we've got the ball."?
  16. They were the best and fairest players that year.
  17. 7. Colin Garland - 218 You must be watching different games from the MFC football department.
  18. Melbourne - Keith 'Bluey' Truscott Medal 1. Bernie Vince - 328 2. Jack Viney - 327 3. Tom McDonald - 300 4. Jesse Hogan - 286 5. Nathan Jones - 270 6. Daniel Cross - 242 7. Colin Garland - 218 8. Jeff Garlett - 216 9. Jeremy Howe - 151 10. Lynden Dunn - 148 Plus Max Gawn It's not that hard to work out what's going on here.
  19. Schwarz was a truly great player, just to be named in the same sentence as Carey is an honour. He would have been a super-star and he did a fantastic job to come back after 3 knee recos and win a B&F. FWIW I thought Allen Jakovich had even more raw talent, but wasted it. Exciting times ahead for us now I think with Hogan, Petracca, Brayshaw. Oliver.
  20. Hang on just getting it into focus ...
  21. not tanking
  22. Want competitive football, expect collision injuries. Lets hope mainly to opponents.
  23. Hunt / Wagner / Terlich - too many half backs Frost / Pedersen / O.MacDonald - too many talls not sure who else, maybe Michie - he's the other Rookie
  24. Yeah I don't think you would have sparked the same response if you posted this first time around instead of: "Spencer is literally a standing tree-stump. It would be nice if he provided even a little bit as an AFL backup Ruckman. But he doesn't. And he won't." Keen to hear from you who you think the replacement should be?
