  1. A bit disappointing that we didn't pick a KPB but we had plenty of chance to take one so must have not rated any highly enough. We must rate Harmes - the pre-draft chat had North and Sydney also interested so maybe we needed to swoop. King's one grab marking in particular and his kicking look good in the highlights and he looks agile for a big boy, will be interesting to see his pace. It's hard to see Georgiou, at 188cm, covering true KPFs no matter how "tall" he plays, but that doesn't mean he can't be a player for us. I see North took Tippett, he's a good pick up for them because I reckon they are under-sized down back. I really like the look of their list now and reckon they'll be flag challengers. Tigers picked up 3 ready-mades too, they're serious about challenging too but I think they're behind North.
  2. My slim chances of winning Tattslotto were dealt a blow when I walked past the shop selling tickets without going inside.
  3. http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/35578-we-should-have-taken-freeman/ leading by half a length.
  4. Rioli makes cameos and Ballantyne as small fwd was integral to Freo getting to the GF, as rpfc says - it's primarily about their small forward fwd capability. The small fwd is not dead. The key observation is that while they've been very effective throughout the season they've found it hard in the GF pressure cooker, but that doesn't eliminate their value.
  5. 2013 GF - how much time did Rioli and Ballantyne spend on ball.
  6. If we think he's up to it I can't see any reason why we can't rookie Tippett AND an 18yo KPB prospect like Fort or Spencer etc We've already got a lot of midfield cannon fodder: N.Jones, Watts, Toumpas, Viney, Trengove, Tyson, McKenzie, Kent, Blease, Cross, Michie, Vince, Nicholson, Riley, Grimes, Evans, Barry, Tapscott, Howe, Bail, M.Jones, Salem, JKH, Hunt. We'd still have 2 rookie spots for a State League or 18yo mid, who are probably surplus to requirements anyway.
  7. One of the hardest trainers in the AFL, particularly pre-season, he doesn't run like that by accident
  8. I read that our recruiters saw BGS matches looking at Kelly and Salem and saw Hunt that way. Unsure how true this is but if it is it makes sense of the left field pick.
  9. I don't think they've had any alternative. No one decent established has wanted to go there.
  10. Give them a break - they're 2 years in. So GC with twice as attractive locale were able to attract Ablett. GWS has been up against it. Give it 5 years and judge their strategy.
  11. Maybe they took best available.
  12. I like the idea of Tippett - ready-to-go KPD support. If Frawley and McDonald get injured we've got only got Pedersen and Garland as key backs. And Frawley's future with the club is uncertain. I'd also like us to take a young KPB if there are any decent ones available - I'd be looking for some size - 194cm+. Looking at the tall defenders at http://www.afl.com.au/2013-draft/draft-machine there appears to be Fraser Fort and Alex Spencer in the frame. Some have suggested Sully from the Cats, I'm wary, their development program is great and they don't let good prospects go - maybe it's just post Gillies blues. So I'd like to see Tippett or Sully and F.Fort or A.Spencer.
  13. So the preliminary results are in and the results of the trade are: Tyson, Salem and Hunt Vs Kelly and the players taken in here: 20. Gold Coast: Jack Leslie (Gippsland Power) ROUND TWO 21. Port Adelaide: Jarman Impey 22. Brisbane Lions: Darcy Gardiner 23. Adelaide: Matt Crouch 24. Hawthorn: Billy Hartung 25. Brisbane Lions: Daniel McStay 26. Essendon: Zachary Merrett 27. Gold Coast: Sean Lemmens 28. Brisbane Lions: Lewis Taylor 29. GWS: Rory Lobb 30. North Melbourne: Trent Dumont 31. West Coast: Malcolm Karpany 32. Sydney Swans: George Hewett 33. Brisbane Lions: Tom Cutler 34. Brisbane Lions: Nicholas Robertson 35. Sydney Swans: Toby Nankervis 36. Geelong: Jarrad Jansen 37. Fremantle: Alex Pearce 38. Hawthorn: Dayle Garlett ROUND THREE 39. Carlton: Cameron Giles It will be interesting to revisit in 3-5 years time, but it's looking like sound strategy right now.
  14. Like. I have Terlich for Dunn and I'm nervous about Clark rucking R1 (altho I agree we need him to asap), but that's splitting hairs. Agree it shows we're exposed for KPD - hopefully Rookie Draft can at least partially address this.
  15. I seem to have lost the "Like" button, but I agree with all that.
  16. http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/forums/drafts-trading-free-agency.61/ In the sub-forums here is where you'll find detailed write-ups on the players we select also: http://www.afl.com.au/2013-draft/draft-machine let's hope they hold up
  17. I think Grimes did a great job and Trengove suffered. As the OP asks who were the alternatives? One critic may have preferred we retained Brad Green.
  18. Looking at the phantom drafts it appears Bontempelli is going to shape the early draft. It sounds as though the Dogs will take him or Aish at 4 and that decision will have a flow on effect. I can't see Scharenburg getting to our pick but there is a low chance scenario where Aish does. What would I know? Some possible scenarios: 1. Boyd 2. Kelly 3. Billings 4. Bontempelli 5. KK 6. Aish 7. Scharenburg 8. McDonald 9. Salem 10. McCarthy 1. Boyd 2. Kelly 3. Billings 4. Aish 5. KK 6. Scharenburg 7. McCarthy 8. McDonald 9. Salem 10. Bontempelli 1. Boyd 2. Kelly 3. Billings 4. Bontempelli 5. KK 6. Scharenburg 7. McCarthy 8. McDonald 9. Aish 10. Salem etc
