  1. I'm sorry George, I really respect Nathan Buckley, I think he's grown to be a very good person and coach: https://www.afl.com.au/video/516873/buckley-de-goey-s-future-comes-down-to-money?videoId=516873&modal=true&type=video&publishFrom=1602334307001
  2. We're usually on the same page LH but I don't read this the same way. I love what Jack has said in this article. He IS a key element to our future success and he recognises that. I like that he says everyone has to buy in to what's best for the team, and for example if he is required to spend some time as a small forward then he would do it if he is true to his word. It really resonates for me that he has aligned himself strongly with Goodwin, he has unequivocally committed his support, that's what I want to see. Goodwin will be coach in 2021 and it will be a pivotal year for him. I don't want to see any players second guessing that.
  3. You are making the point that MFC is particularly bad at managing developing tall players and used OMac as an example. I used English as an example of another club mismanaging a tall in worse ways and @whatwhatsaywhat brought up the even more conclusive example of Josh Fraser. Your whole shtick is unique "MFC mismananagement". You seem unable to follow a relatively straightforward rebuttal.
  4. Yeah even better, cripple potential stars by exposing them in a more demanding position before they are physically ready for it.
  5. English at Western. He's going to be a very good player. Maybe Beveridge is a nuffie?
  6. True but it's better than paying Brad Hill $900k/year
  7. Big Footy has a thread that Jordan Clarke is "out of favour" at Geelong. He's definitely been out of the team but that is probably temporary since those geriatrics were the oldest team average age EVER in AFL/VFL history last week at 28y 134d. Anyway Clarke would go alright at wing/HB for us. Maybe a trade for Preuss + pick.
  8. What's this story about Goodwin ever taking any input from assistants. I know directly from Brendan McCartney that they had a close and fruitful relationship. When Macca left everything he said was positive about Goodwin.
  9. Yes thanks - Smith's a winker, not a campaigner
  10. I think people love to think they made the difference - it takes the whole thing to another level. I think there was a fair bit of that going on with Lewis, even though it didn't ultimately pan out.
  11. Thanks for the effort to give a detailed answer. I don't think it's a simple as you make out. You've just exited Viney to FA with that insulting 2 year contract offer. Why not just say "let him go to FA". Or maybe you don't realise that would be the undeniable outcome of that offer? We just gave 2 years to the other 3 - so where's the problem? What if any of the 1 year contact players get offered 2 elsewhere - will you match any or let them go? Every team needs some mature depth - we used 36 players this season. I think a mature depth player definitely earns his keep at around 6+ games per season. It will be interesting to see if any of those you've delisting achieve that at MFC or another club. Finally on past decisions - VDB would be playing for Sydney now if we didn't give him 3 years, Melky had a bad year but he's been a very good player and has a good chance to redeem himself - I'm not writing him off. ANB, Jetta - 1 year or 2 - it's not the sky falling. It's not a great year to have list vacancies anyway. I think if we're not making errors like KK then we're being too conservative - there will be mistakes if you take a sufficiently aggressive list management position. TMac was dominating in 2018 when he got the extension - 2020 Harry Hindsight - please link me to your post at the time that was against this.
  12. You can use it in a trade for an established player (my strong preference in this case - "trade in a player") or use it in the draft. There is a significant strategic difference.
  13. We probably don't want both Smith and Polec.
  14. I'd much prefer a player. I only want a draft pick if it helps us trade in a player.
  15. I'll be moving on to discuss football with @Turner on this topic since you clearly have nothing to offer on the topic.
  16. Wow, thin skinned. You've dodged the question in 5 posts now. Does your wife refer to you as "all talk, no action" too?
  17. Yes I've never met hm so it's an unfair impression but he seems full of himself. I enjoyed his after the siren miss in the final against Geelong. The wink, the slice.
  18. Norf just missed out. lol.
  19. Look it's clear you can't actually back up your claim of greater list management expertise and need to resort to some diversion. All froth and no substance. Yes, I haven't answered your question and it's dangerous to try to imagine what "like that" means to a person "like you".
  20. OK I'll spoon feed you ... Using @Lucifer's Hero excellent out of contract list for this year. Who would you re-contract, for how long and who would you trade or delist. Bedford, Fritsch, Hibberd, Hannan, Hore, Hunt, Jones, Jordon, OMac, Nietschke, Petty, Smith, Sparrow, Spargo, Viney, Bennell, Brown, Chandler, Lockhart, Bradtke
  21. You're the one supposedly with the handle on it. Give me who will and won't make it.
  22. You said you were a year ahead of our list managers. Now it's apparently two years. Time to put up ...
