Describe all their dimensions for me. And don't forget to tell me how they were going at 23yo.
-
How many dimensions have Josh Kennedy and Charlie Dixon got?
-
We've already got Harrison Petty and IMO Weid will develop into a #1 KPF. If we're bringing in a KPF he needs to ready to go as they #1 target in 2021, e.g. Brown - I'm torn on whether we should do this. But I'm not in favour of Esava.
-
Look I'm fine with either or as @A F says, both.

Here's the comparison at the same age. If you can't see that Smith is clearly superior you are not looking hard enough. https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_player_compare?playerStatus1=A&tid1=11&playerStatus2=A&tid2=5&type=A&pid1=3464&pid2=4214&fid1=O&fid2=O Last season Smith was better too: https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_player_compare?playerStatus1=A&tid1=11&playerStatus2=A&tid2=5&type=A&pid1=3464&pid2=4214&fid1=S&fid2=S

Max Gawn? A million monkeys and a million draft picks ... -
There's "reasons", but I know "excuses".

He's definitely got the game face on - unfinished business.

Look I'm Pollyanna and there are a 1000 Henny Pennys. Because the next 2 years are part of those 5 years - we need to be playing finals next year. If we are and regularly contending then those FAs will re-sign and we'll be able to sign other teams FAs because we'll be an attractive destination e.g. go well next year and Zac Merrett may come across. I think we've got the oar in the water for Smith and Phillips - Smith is a better player and Phillips is younger.
-
IMO the window is open for 5+ years and we're just coming into our prime. We were still in the youngest half of lists this year. It doesn't need to end when Max and May decline - by then Jackson can be the new Nick Nat and Petty might be Harris Andrews. I'm going full Brendan Gale - we'll win at least one flag in the next 5 years.
-
I'm pretty sure there's a plan, Mahoney has been doing this for a while now. We might pick up Hind to replace one of those small forwards and someone like McKernan or Daw as DFA for emergency ruck coverage in place of Preuss. I think there will be plenty of experienced fringe and depth options if list sizes are reduced.
-
We'll be moving on 10 or so players and 4 have already gone - the Wagner brothers, Dunkley and Bennell. Bank on another 6 or so going and some of them will be the players you've listed such as OMac, Hannan, ANB, Preuss, Bedford etc. There will likely be some list reduction. The replacements will be a mix of experienced players from other clubs through trades and DFA, and draftees - with a focus on the former. Our NQRs will be replaced with players who we hope more fit for purpose. It's just standard operating procedure.

KIck chasing instead of following team defence rules? North did lose to Carlton.

I did the list turnover numbers a few years ago. The average list turnover was around 10 or 11 and the minimum was around 8. That's what we should be expecting this year, especially if lists are reduced. 2019 Retirements and Delists https://www.draftguru.com.au/years/2019/retirements-delistings 141/18 = 7.8 Free Agents and Trades https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_AFL_draft 10 + 26 = 36/18 = 2

I don't think it's all pushing out up to pick 23, as @Little Goffy in his excellent OP points out and you acknowledge, there will be some coming in from picks being consumed to make up points. The AFL brought in the rule that says teams can only bunch picks for points equal to the number of list vacancies they have. The Dogs for example aren't going to be able pay for pick 1 entirely with picks beyond 23.

AFAIK he's already contracted for 2021.

On 3AW yesterday Leigh Matthews said the CEO is the most important appointment and everything flows from there including the coach. We were clearly blessed having Peter Jackson and hopefully Gary Pert is a capable operator too - time will tell. Matthews seems to have learnt a lot in his time as a Brisbane board member, not least of all that the board shouldn't meddle in Operations.

If a club is undertaking aggressive list management there will be errors. NO club is error free. Richmond - Chris Yarran, Geelong - Mitch Clark.
-
North's youth is not the problem - Simpkin, Zuhaar, Larkey, LDU, Thomas and Scott can all play and they have picks 2 and 9 in what looks like a good draft for KPs who are hard to find. They have good senior role models in Cunnngton, Ziebell, Tarrant and Goldstein. It's the black hole in their 24-27yo that's the big issue. They are trying to offload Brown and Polec for picks, and the only others who are AFL standard are Anderson, McDonald and Dumont - hardly inspiring. They are in for 4 years of rebuild pain at a very bad time.

Questionable posts in a thread about the mental health of a coach.

I'm with you Steve but there will be a decent measure of misery for the loser.

I'd be keen to see you take that up with Brendan McCartney.
