  1. I hear Polak is having trouble remembering things told to him minutes ago. The bloke got hit by a tram. Yes the timing sucks but have some compassion for a bloke that has a bruised brain and doesn't want to negatively impact his team. I think some times we take ourselves too seriously, give the Tigers another pick. Polak will not play in 2009. Some at Tigerland don't think he will ever play again...
  2. 1 Melbourne - ???? 2 Port Adelaide - Carr 3 Essendon - Skipworth 4 Carlton - Johnson 5 Brisbane - ???? 6 Richmond -Klemke 7 Richmond - Cousins Yze is gone, and Skipworth will be taken by the Dons.
  3. We have only 6 players older than 25. I really think that we should make 2009 the year we embrace the youth that we hope is... our hope. McLean captain with Moloney and Miller VC's.
  4. We should not elevate him instead of partaking in the PSD. Valenti staying on the RL allows us to get the most talent that we can. He certainly does deserve a place on our list. He is definitely in the mix for senior selection. Injuries happen, and the new rule that allows a RL player to play after Rd 11 is a godsend for players in his position.
  5. That's it. Everyone needs to cool their jets. CJ had a nice left foot over 30-40m, other than that I can think of nothing to get excited about. We won't pick him, but we want everyone to know that it's no big loss.
  6. I think he deserves our support for his loyalty and his candor on trade week in this article. But the captaincy is not something that can be won with a good article. If he wins it, it is because his behaviour at training and around the club is one of a leader. Or THE leader. Personally, I still cannot get past the fact that when he was injured at the start of last season he was voted out of the leadership group because the playing group never saw him. You have to throw yourself into everything at a club if you want to lead it - you can't pick and choose when you are an example to others.
  7. Rest assured HT, at times over the next few years Jack Watts will line up on the side of the square. It just lets him play on the periphery and not attract all of the oppositions' attention. But I would prefer a FP/HFF role.
  8. An admirable effort but... Martin has been great playing on the 'gorillas' and I don't think he has the footy IQ to play forward. Dunn, Miller, and Bate across the line would be one paced and they're all lead up footy players with little defensive capabilities. Watts should play wing/HFF/FP for the first few years as he gets used to the AFL. And Maric, in my opinion (not many agree with me), should be groomed for the midfield as his vision and skills are as good as the best midfielder in the game today. My forward line Rd.1 next year would have Miller, Wonaeamirri, Bate, Morton, Davey, and Newton starting with Robertson on the pine to ease him back into footy.
  9. Watching some footage of him, he strikes me as very slight but very smart with the footy. Reminds me of Brent Harvey As a Tigers fan, he modelled his game on Deledio and there is a bit of that boldness in his play. I hope he can continue the impersonation, we need that run and fearlessness with the footy.
  10. If you're a proponet of "best talent available" recruiting then you have to deal with drafts that have an over abundance of one particular type of player. This is what happened. If you said "take the BTA" before the draft and have criticised the fact we took 5 mids/flankers then you are a hypocrite.
  11. The PSD is for the low risk - high reward types and looking at that footage - that is exactly what he is. I definitely think we should go tall in the PSD and this bloke looks as good as any other at this stage. And for those that say 'every club overlooked him' I say Stef Martin isn't a bad FB prospect...
  12. Don't care if he's in the box personally. Just want him to teach our young midfielders how to handball in traffic. Forget about teaching Bruce and Green, old dogs...
  13. At the start of the year he was a certainty to be delisted, and with good reason. He played about 2 good games this year, and racked up some of the cheapest possies in about 4 other games. Can we postpone the whining for when we actually lose a decent player to another team...
  14. It looks very classy... And since when does the logo matter when it comes to attracting kids?! Collingwood has a very boring old style one that they haven't changed for ten years. Kids like flair and personality, and wins, not flashy logos. Give the kids some credit.
  15. Rubbish. At the end of the day, that is a inane hypothetical statement. He's a 196cm CHF with great hands, good skills and came 2nd in agility at the draft camp. If he was from China we would still know about him...
  16. Paul Williams oversaw a step back of our midfield competence. The cold hard fact is that we were the toughest tackling group in the AFL and the next year we were playing unaccountable footy and allowing 60 'Inside 50s' a game. Injuries were a problem, but they don't excuse a lack of endeavour and ability to stay near a bloke. Also, don't complain about the fact that we didn't have 'first use', our clearances were down in 07 and 08 but still not our worst measurement of performance. I have no idea who is out there but there must be someone willing to take on a promising, if lazy, midfield group.
  17. No. they would have to be delisted and redrafted in the rookie draft that takes place right after the PSD.
  18. I would have liked both - Prismall for Pick 35 and Warnock in the PSD. But for $300k and $400k respectively? To a 22 year old with a suspect knee and a 21 fringe ruckman at the third worst club? Connolly is right about precedence, I don't want any one of our promising kids pointing at a 22 year old at this club and say that he should be paid an equal, exorbitant, amount.
  19. We couldn't get the deal that we deserved and he has done this with class. Due diligence from everyone concerned. He can not captain next year. Simple as that.
  20. We have more room in the cap than Carlton, they are bluffing there arses off with this one and I hope Freo doesn't fall for it. Personally, I'd take Pick. 24 but they don't see that as fair so off to the PSD I hope we go. If Carlton think we will blink, then they are getting their old arrogance back. If Warnock goes in to the PSD and we think he is the best talent out there - we should take him. If he whinges, tell him to suck it up.
  21. Every year there is this rumour, I believe it less and less. Unless for a bargain price I don't think he is an improvement over Miller. I'd prefer to have Miller CHF in 2009 and Watts right beside him.
  22. I don't see many bad guys in this fellas and shielas. We have offered him nearly half a mil a year, we did our due diligence in trying to make it only two. Brad has looked at what is out there in terms of achieveing a premiership. No-one has said anything that will burn the chance of him coming back to the club and he hasn't said a peep. I have been adamant about trying to get a top 20 pick for Green but if we can't get a deal, he ain't gonna leave for nothing with WCE, Freo, and Port waiting in the PSD. We just need to calm down until Friday 2.05pm.
  23. There is a bit of vitriol about Green at both D'ology and here. He will be on more than 1.1m over three years if he stays, that is a very conservative number that was mentioned in the paper. If he goes, it will not be for money. He won't get a better deal anywhere else. I have been an advocate for trading him but he is not going to leave because of money. Let's get that straight. If he does go, it will be for his career and the prospect of playing in a premiership. Not good enough for many of us to leave the Dees, but understandable.
  24. That article states an offer of 1.1m over 3 years. Get Real. It would be more like 1.5m over 3 years. Otherwise, who exactly is getting the $7m we have to pay in the cap. Green will be on $450,000 - $500,000 if he is re-signed. The Hawks are trying to get more room in their cap, they can send Taylor to Sydney. He is no improvement on Jamar and it would make the deal fairer. If Sydney want him...
  25. The AFL are worried about free agency and this would be another example of restraint of trade if a deal doesn't go through. Personally, I feel that restricted free agency should apply in the case of long term players and Warnock has been at Freo for 3 years. They should be helping O'Keefe get to where he wants to go.
