  1. Be interesting to see how Petty goes up forward as the number 3 key fwd behind T mac and Weid/M Brown. Remember the games he played up forward he only had Preuss, Smith or O Mac as support - none of which are (were) any good as forwards.
  2. Could not possibly agree any more. The Carlton game this year completely summed up our reliance on T Mac. An in form T Mac kicks 6 goals to 3 quarter time and we're flying with a 30 point lead. He then gets injured, misses the last quarter and we get outscored 5.4 to 1.3 and almost lose the game. Then of course we lose the remaining 7 games in his absence. Excellent balanced report. Certainly a lot more critical than the other reports but that's fine.
  3. I doubt anyone around here needs apologies for providing us Demon tragics with MFC related entertainment.
  4. Mr Demonland can you please prepare the 2010-2019 ladder for Kardina Park/GMHBA. I'd say we'd be equal top with one win.
  5. Yes exactly. McCartney implied (in a recent SEN interview) that the coaching staff thought we were poor on the most part against Hawthorn in the semi and the writing was on the wall after the game. I doubt however that they predicted we’d amass a half time prelim score of 0.6.6.
  6. Agree with both delistings, however both can consider themselves a littler unlucky considering Josh Wagner received an extension. Could have easily re-signed one of the two and delisted Wagner.
  7. I wonder if it was a genuine de-listing or a mutual parting of ways. Still reckon he had a little left in the tank and at worst would've been handy depth for our small forwards.
  8. Was that the side that lost by 58 point in their one and only final and didn't get an ounce of scrutiny from the media. Meanwhile the year before we lost a final by only 8 more points (despite winning 2 earlier finals) in hostile territory and extreme heat, and the media portrayed that loss as a crime to humanity.
  9. I wonder who the four poor buggers are? If Buckenara's on the payroll he'd have Harmes as poor and Josh Wagner above average.
  10. Yes, Fritsch looked like a fish out of water when they inexplicably threw him up forward late in the season,
  11. I definitely have that feeling too. I hope it’s not Petracca as he has more weapons and point of difference than Brayshaw.
  12. 1. We finish 11th with a 10-12 season. I simply can't predict us making finals off a 5 win season and playing largely disgraceful footy. 2. We'll beat the mediocre side that made us look like fools last year - St Kilda, North, Sydney. 3. Harmes to stick it up Cornes and make the All Australian squad (but not the final 22). He's making exponential improvement each year to the point where he dominated a game of footy and got the 3 BL votes against Hawthorn this year. 4. Petracca to have a career best year with 30 goals as a hybrid mid-fwd. 5. Gawn to be the sole ruckman in the AA side and proves to the footballing public that he's the clear number one. I'll take Gawn's ruck-work over Grundy's 50 taps straight to the GWS midfield in the prelim. 6. We'll no doubt get our fair share of injuries but not to the extent of 2019. 7. Bennell to make his MFC debut in round 11 against Hawthorn. Our first "away game" win to them since 2006. 8. Langdon to be an excellent recruit. Tomlinson not so much (already incurring an interrupted pre season) 9. We'll be around 9th-11th on the ladder all year. 10. We finally get that elusive scalp against one of Richmond, Collingwood or West Coast. But only one of them.
  13. Unfortunately Hibberd’s approaching 30 and his best day are probably behind him. I thought he had a poor 2019 and just seemed really off all year.
  14. Plans to be in full training by start of Feb 1 by all reports. Could a May 3/ Round 6 AFL return be too unrealistic. Two months of full training. 4 games at Casey?? At the very least he should be in the AFL by the mid season bye if all goes well.
  15. I’m assuming this selection is based purely on the infamous Sydney round 22 game when we literally ran out of key forwards (apart from Keilty who wasn’t AFL standard) and the list management department were made to look like fools in that game. We can’t have a repeat of this fwd line again: HF - Petracca Melksham ANB F. C Wagner Fritsch Chandler You’ve rightly pointed out his flaws, but for someone that kicked a bag of 4 in a prime time Friday night win this year (and two 3 goal games), I think he’s a pretty good depth pick up.
  16. Brilliant year was 2000, after a patchy 6-7 start to the season. We played such an attractive and exciting brand of footy that year. When your side kicks 23 goals in a prelim, you’re entitled to think you’re a genuine chance of a flag. A pity we had to play one of the most dominant, it not most dominant team of all time. Sums up our luck and fortune post 1964.
  17. I assumed he'd be sidelined for the standard 4-5 week calf injury which would have him returning just in time for when everyone breaks up for xmas. Definitely not an ideal preparation for him.
  18. Good reflection on Harmes to be likened to this year’s pick 2.
  19. If Weightman's more of a sure bet than Pickett (even if Pickett has more upside) surely we go Weightman. We need a small forward that you can absolutely bank on kicking 30 goals a year without fail, then it sounds like Weightman is the man.

They will if they play an interstate side at the G.
  21. I thought it would've been wise to have Collingwood host QBD again in 2020. That way in 2021 going forward we'd always have 1 home marquee game per year. With respect to the loss, we missed a massive opportunity to draw big crowds in our August MCG home games against Richmond (sat night), Collingwood (sat arvo) and Sydney (fri night). The club would've budgeted for an accumulated crowd of 150,000, but got a pathetic 90,000.
  22. Not necessarily, but it seemed like anything we did in that period turned to dust. Whether it be bad luck or bad management. The selections of Gysberts, Blease and Strauss were absolutely disastrous. Very hard to stomach considering Shuey was taken after Strauss.
  23. We’ve averaged 6.67 wins a year since 2007. I think every supporter is entitled to a little MFCSS in relation to Wednesday. Hawthorn and Collingwood built their flag on the back of one solitary draft. We spent 7 top 20 picks on Scully, Trengove, Tappscott, Gysberts, Blease, Watts and Strauss over a 2 year period.
  24. He was dead right. I think we were celebrating our 4th win that year..... in round 19.
  25. Hopefully he’s not a Jarrod Garlett/Jarrod Pickett type that was taken way too high in the draft and then out of the system 4 or 5 years later.
