Why the bloody heck am I so happy after a Geelong win?

Wasn’t J Wagner recruited purely on being a lethal kick. Hope he shows it tomoz.

I’d say we got the Doggies in the middle of a hot streak for them. They’ll likely cool off later in the season or in finals.

Looks extremely out of shape at the moment. Longmuir was less than complimentary in his assessment of Hogan at the moment and his scratch match form.

Hunt’s probably a logical replacement for Fritsch. Fast on the lead and a good over head mark like Fritsch. And we get an upgrade in accuracy. However Hunt has way less involvement than Fritsch, particularly in the marking department.

With Fritsch out who’s now going to kick all our behinds?

Injured or dropped? Surely injured. That's a shame as we lose an option up forward.

I really hope Preuss doesn't play given that Gawn is back. Feels like we're a man down as he has no forward craft whatsoever when resting forward and barely takes a mark around the ground. Plus we need more pace and run if we're any hope of matching the Saints. Having 2 giants won't help in this area.

People are bagging him? Wow! He destroys us every time and I can't stand his over the top celebrating after his "Joe the goose" goals from 1 metre out. Needs to be stopped tomorrow.

So channel 7 news are full of crap. They revealed that King would be rested yesterday.

Membrey (2.8 goals a game) just nudges Kingsey (2.7) over roughly the same amount of games against us. But yes, Kingsley tore us a new one in the early 2000's.

Surely May needs to urgently go on him from the opening bounce. Not after half time when he's already put 3 on us. I've never seen a player own the Melbourne Football Club as much as Membrey. Handy if King doesn't play, as May would've probably had the task on him.

You're dead right mate about St Kilda ruining our recent seasons. I can't see it changing this weekend. 2016 we got schooled by them twice. Win both of those, have a small loss to Geelong in round 23 (as opposed to the 110 pt loss) and we play finals. 2018 was even worse. They were a complete dumpster fire that year, and yet put 120 points on us in a horrid mid season game. Absolutely no good reason for that happening, particularly given that we were rolling after kicking the first 3 goals of the game. Cost us 3rd place that year. Would've avoided WC in the prelim. 2017 we beat them twice but we'll just ignore that for discussion purposes.

Yeah, but they have beaten some of the big boys in Richmond and Port away, the latter of whom were flying at the time. As much as we all hate them, they'll have earned their spot in the finals.

Another reason as to why this season is an absolute joke. The fact that in round 6 we were originally scheduled to play Richmond, and then Fremantle and then finally Gold Coast tells me all I need to know about this season. Or what about that Monday in late June when the AFL re-scheduled our opponents on 6 days notice.

My Collingwood supporting mate forever thanks me for the Dees beating Hawthorn in the 1990 finals as that was the only side Collingwood feared. Hawthorn swept Collingwood in the 1990 H&A season, including a late season 83 point flogging.

That's also an underrated fact that we blew a massive lead against Hawthorn in rd 22 to only fall over the line and cost ourselves valuable percentage. Good pick up.

They most certainly have not played in Alice and I dare say Darwin either. I'd probably rather play St Kilda in Alice than at the GABBA but they seem to have a knack of beating us anytime-anywhere.

We did win 16 games that year without even getting a double chance. An underrated sliding doors moment occurred in the last round IMO. Geelong were leading West Coast all day at Kardinia Park and all they had to do was hang on and 3rd place/double chance was ours. Unfortunately WC kicked a couple of late ones to snatch the win and hence pushing us back to an elimination final. Had we finished third we would've played Collingwood at Waverley, the team we had an excellent finals record against in the late 80's.

What a fantastic afternoon at the footy that was. My first ever final sitting in the old southern stand (just before it was demolished) in the beautiful September sunshine. A fantastic, gritty win although the Hawks came back hard. I was a bit young to remember but I assume the MFC faithful went home that day with genuine premiership hopes given that we'd beaten the raining champs twice in two weeks.

For all his short comings he'd actually provide more to our forward mix than Hannan who plays about 7 minutes of footy a game.

Hopefully the opposite occurs next week. Saints have never played in Alice Springs while we’ve been playing there since 2014, and performed well there on the last 3 occasions .

His problem is he always takes his marks on the flanks and pockets. Great that he gets a number of shots but hard to convert angles.
