  1. Tend to agree here. Westy wasn’t great last game but she wasn’t alone there. She is great at winning contest and clearances which will be vital against North. The player that I think is lucky is Eliza McNamara. I don’t think she has been great for a while now and needs to get involved and provide more run and carry. Understandably hasn’t been the same since her serious injury but on merit I think she is lucky. Great to see Georgia Campbell back in the team.
  2. Most likely on Oval 4 or 5 which is home to Casey- South Melbourne Cricket Club. Although in the master plan there is a plan to expand the grand stand and also introduce drop in pitches with a view to host big bash and AFL matches on the main oval which is ours. City of Casey Casey Fields Casey Fields is South East Melbourne’s premier sports and recreation precinct. It is home to two professional sporting clubs, Melbourne Demons (AFL/AFLW) and Melbourne City Football Club (A-League), and regularly hosts state level and nationally televised events in sports such as cricket, rugby league, athletics and BMX. In less than two decades, Casey Fields has grown from 87-hectares of farmland to a complex boasting more than 30 fields, tracks and courts for professional and community sport. With an increasing array of clubs and associations partnering with Council, and with a dedicated train station proposed as part of the future Clyde Rail extension, the future promises to be exciting. Partnerships, clubs and events Casey Fields is the City of Casey’s premier sporting precinct and the epicentre of South East Melbourne’s sporting landscape, with professional clubs, athletes and events finding a home at the complex. Throughout 2021, Casey Fields’ two professional tenant clubs, the Melbourne Demons and Melbourne City FC, won silverware in the AFL and A-League Men’s respectively. Casey Fields regularly hosts nationally televised events such as AFL pre-season, AFLW, VFL, Women’s Big Bash League, NRL pre-season and A-League Women's games. With facilities open to the public, residents can come to Casey Fields and see some of Australia’s best male and female athletes plying their trade, and with professional pathways on-site in sports such as Australian Rules, cricket and football, the platform is set for Casey's young people to chase their sporting dreams. Elite clubs and associations State and regional events Community sport Grassroots clubs based at Casey Fields As well as servicing professional sport, Casey Fields is also a proud supporter of community sporting clubs, housing a total of 16 organisations across the precinct. From footy and cricket, to darts, blokarting and cycling, these organisations stretch across nine different sporting disciplines, which showcases the diversity of the Casey Fields offering. The Cranbourne Tennis Club is the precinct’s longest serving tenant, having commenced on site in 2005, while the Casey BMX Club is our most recent grassroots sporting addition, competing out of Casey Fields since 2018. If you’re interested in learning more about, or even joining, one of these clubs then head to their websites listed below. Cranbourne Tennis Cranbourne Cricket Devon Meadows Junior Football Cranbourne Little Athletics Casey Cardinia Athletics Casey Warriors Rugby League Casey Wolves BMX Base Cycling Casey Cardinia Human Powered Vehicles Cycling Green Valley Darts and Social Club Victorian Blokart Club Victorian Masters Athletics Facilities Casey Fields has more than 30 courts, fields and tracks for professional clubs, grassroots clubs and the community to all enjoy – with more planned for the future. Sporting Main Oval The precinct’s premier facility, the Main Oval, has fronted Casey Fields since April 2006, regularly hosting AFL pre-season, AFLW and VFL / VFLW matches. Adjoining the playing field is the Casey Demons / Melbourne Demons administration pavilion, complete with change rooms, a function room and office space both for the club and for state sporting associations. To facilitate the growth of the AFLW program, the facility received an $8 million upgrade in 2018-19 that saw the development of an indoor high-performance centre. The project, which also included a refurbishment of the existing pavilion, was made possible by $5m in funding from the Victorian Government and $500,000 from the AFL. Long-term plans for the Main Oval include an upgrade of lighting and the addition of grandstands which would lift the venue to a standard capable of hosting AFL Premiership matches. Provision for the addition of a drop-in cricket wicket also form part of future plans, which will open up the possibility of Big Bash League cricket matches being played at Casey Fields.
  3. Not while our Premiership window is still slightly open. We need to get in players that will be difference maker now, not waste another year of Gawn, May, Viney etc. This years pick 6 will get us a very good player.
  4. Total lack of run last night. Not having Paxy in hurt, I think we went in a bit tall. But the lack of run wasn’t all due to personal lot was also attitude based which was disappointing. Bannon offered nothing there or was set up to provide run in an open forwardline with a kick to her advantage side. Our forwards pushed too high up the ground last night. What stood out was a lack of chase. Shelly Heath who is usually a determined player and has wheels stopped chasing a Brisbane player who ran from half bank flank to half forward flank with some handball receives who set up a Brisbane goal from that chain. Our handball receives were way down with little overlap run. Really disappointing result now as we rely on Adelaide to slip up to host a potential Grand Final. It actually was like watching our men’s team last night. Win the inside but getting smashed outside the contest, forwards too high up the ground. Slow ball movement and a lack of run dare. And a few eyebrows raised with team selection. Too many passengers last night but I am sure that the girls will bounce back.
  5. Awesome can we please spend the whole 20% increase on a “specialist forward line coach” preferably someone who spent a large portion of their career playing as a forward, not a part timer who rested there.
  6. Marvel and MCG would be unavailable due to big bash. In a perfect world I think Marvel would be the best option. A bit of a shame that it’s Ikon. I just see that giant Carlton logo and it doesn’t sit well with me.
  7. I believe he lives down Apollo Bay way so if he was to get into a men’s coaching role on a full time basis as much as I would love it to be with us, that tax payer funded club in Cotton On FC would be attractive from a location point of view. You can wear the travel for a shorter AFLW season but with a young family the travel and time commitment with our men’s program may be too much. Daisy to come home and take over the AFLW program and Mick promoted to the men’s program would be a dream scenario.
  8. Couldn’t agree more. They could also learn from the AFLW teams ball movement and game plan a bit as well.
  9. Just to let our football do the talking. No talk about players being at clubs that value them, no slogans like Demon Spirit or Possessed. Just simply play football and play it well.
  10. At a minimum win one final in Melbourne
  11. Not quite, Trav is from my club of Chelsea although these days he coaches Bonbeach Under 12 boys but do see him at a few Chelsea games. Local rivalry aside it’s more the culture of Edi-Asp. They are not a particularly well liked club down this way and with good reason. He is deservedly nicknamed Travis Bongstone, everything you have heard about him is probably true.
  12. Tayla is a real impact player and also a selfless role player. A beautiful kick and can take a grab. If she is not tacking marks she is splitting the pack and getting the ball to ground where our smalls are ready more often than not. She doesn’t need to dominate the stats sheet every week to contribute Good luck defending a forward line of Harris, Zanker, Hore and Bannon. We are lucky that we have the depth to cover her but we are no doubt a better team when she is playing.
  13. Interesting, wouldn’t have thought we were way off $$$$. Sale of Bentleigh Club and years of generous donations from Foundation Heroes would have raised a healthy deposit. No doubt we would rely on some level of government funding. Sincerely hope we get it as Caulfield for me ticks so many boxes.
  14. Certainly has a point of difference to our other midfielders, speed and can consistently hit a target by foot.
  15. Which Coates league team did Sanders play for Tasmania or Sandringham Dragons?
  16. May was our player of the finals for mine. Still has a few good years left yet.
  17. No, but Turner might. Understand where you are coming from but question marks over Brayshaw and also Clarry, Viney a warrior but getting on also. But right now our premiership window is still open, our backline is not an issue. To take that next step we need a bit of class and polish and I believe some speed as well to help with that connection between our mids and forwards. We have also lost midfield depth with Dunstan, JJ and Harmes we need to replenish mids for the now. Next year trade or draft for Key Position Defenders.
  18. 6/ Gillard 5/ Hanks 4/B. Mackin 3/ Goldie 2/ Heath 1/ Purcell
  19. If this is how it falls I wouldn’t be to unhappy with that. For me suits our needs.
  20. It is a genuine pleasure to watch these girls play live. Went with my daughter and a few of her friends that I coach and you learn a lot from watching this team. They are selfless and disciplined and play their roles really well. Gillard is a rock in defence her ability to spoil but hit it to the advantage of a team mate that is in position ready for the spoil is second to none. Our ability to win the ball on the inside and get it outside by handball and use chains of handball to move it is outstanding. Sometimes they can use one too many handballs but you wear that. We are usually good by foot but I thought we were a bit off there last night. There was a bit of a breeze but didn’t think it was a big factor. North hardly fired a shot after the first quarter largely due to our defensive pressure.Agree with the crowd a bit disappointing and North did not show up at all. After the game the girls went down to the fence and after the team sang the song they go around the boundary and engage with the fans. The girls asked Kate Hore and Banno for selfies and they obliged. But what struck me was that after the selfies they said to the girls “thanks for coming and supporting us” Others that high fives the girls also thanked them for coming.Honestly people get around this team, they play a bloody good brand of football and they are humble and fantastic role models. They make you proud to be a Melbourne supporter which is great as over the last few weeks especially my pride as a supporter has been dented. Go Dees!!!!!!!!!
  21. I understand the lure of home and if a club in your home state throwing some serious coin at you it is tempting, show a bit of respect to the club that was very proactive and strong in supporting you during the Zorko incident. Pretty ordinary performance Harry and I’m not talking about your golf.
  22. Bang on. I just want us to put a bit more value on offence. We work so hard and well behind the ball to set up and defend but we lack the same urgency when transitioning from defence to offence. We can win the ball in the back half and switch the kick but we don’t see players busting a gut to push over to that side of the ground which is the fat side to be an option. I noticed at our B & F that Goody made a point of acknowledging Mick Stinnear and our AFLW team in particular the brand they play. I really hope that he adopts some of those methods and becomes more offensive. Have said it before and I stand by it I actually enjoy watching our AFLW team play more than our male team. It is not necessarily because of the results it is purely gamestyle. It would also be a more enjoyable brand to play as a player as well.
  23. I would be really disappointed if we went for O’Sullivan first. Not our immediate need now while the window is still slightly open. May for me was our player of the finals and we can think of replacing him in a few years time. We need pace, skill in our midfield to front half.
  24. If Hawks get Ginnivan then not sure they will get Watson so I think he goes to the Doggies. I am a massive Watson fan and have seen a bit of him this year and would love to pick him up as I think he is an upgrade on all of our smalls .Would be an excitement machine like Jackovich or Jurrah where fans are up off seats when he is near the ball.
