  1. Liverpool Football Club acknowledges PGMOL’s admission of their failures last night. It is clear that the correct application of the laws of the game did not occur, resulting in sporting integrity being undermined. We fully accept the pressures that match officials work under but these pressures are supposed to be alleviated, not exacerbated, by the existence and implementation of VAR. It is therefore unsatisfactory that sufficient time was not afforded to allow the correct decision to be made and that there was no subsequent intervention. That such failings have already been categorised as “significant human error” is also unacceptable. Any and all outcomes should be established only by the review and with full transparency. This is vital for the reliability of future decision-making as it applies to all clubs with learnings being used to make improvements to processes in order to ensure this kind of situation cannot occur again. In the meantime, we will explore the range of options available, given the clear need for escalation and resolution. Above is a real contemporary example of what I would like to see in terms of communication from the Melbourne FC to its members from another sporting passion of mine. It’s short, sharp, strong and respectful. As a supporter I know that my club is onto it, but I don’t have that same level of faith in the MFC as we don’t know because we don’t hear much. Have the AFL had a good year well commercially yes but operationally I would say no. I just want Melbourne to be seen to be a bit more vocal or transparent about issues that affect our club. You don’t have to be areseholes about it but I just see us as a very nice club that tells opposition players that their nose is bleeding and to clean it up. Nice doesn’t always win. I want us to win. Until such time we will continue to play Geelong in Geelong.
  2. WCW the year we don’t play Geelong in Geelong I will believe that. If we are calling things out and nothing is done about it then call that out too. I don’t want anything too over the top but the odd thinly veiled swipe at a press conference, a short club statement to members about the Maynard incident about being disappointed in the outcome etc we will continue to support Angus etc etc, the two touched goals against Carlton in seperate games, I could go on but just something occasionally from the club to show members / supporters that we are taking a stand would be nice. Be a closed shop when it comes to recruiting and trading etc but a bit more transparency and dialogue with members about issues concerning the club eg a training base I am sure would be welcome and deserved by our 70 000 plus members.
  3. Or we could stick up for ourselves and call things out instead of being the nice guy. The passive acceptance we have annoys me. I don’t want us to go full Eddie and turn into a serial whinger but every now and then make a stand and not be the serial pushover.
  4. Several human errors in this game, the disallowed goal. Two Liverpool players sent off incorrectly. You cannot make this stuff up. There is an agenda in the EPL as much as the AFL wanted a Collingwood grand final.
  5. Well done to Adams placing in the grand final sprint. We should have picked Schache though so at least the poor bastard got to go on the MCG during the finals.
  6. I thought abc stood for anyone but Collingwood
  7. Well done for putting yourself out there. Really good list but personally I would love Rivers up a few to around 7 and even though he was managed this year I thought Hibbo was great and would move him up a few to 20
  8. If Collingwood were playing the Taliban in the Grand Final next week I would be wholeheartedly supporting the Taliban.
  9. Just spitballing here. Ben Brown is cooked as a player. Currently serving an apprenticeship as an assistant with our AFLW team. My understanding is that he has a year to run on his playing contract. Give him a tap on the shoulder and get him to retire but give him a role as our forward coach. With all due respect to Stafford he cannot stay in his role as a forward coach and surprised he was there this year. If the club wants to keep him it is as a ruck coach only.
  10. As a Melbourne supporter I would hope that trip is a tax deduction
  11. I do, but it’s a red card for you for the Stevie G flashback
  12. It hasn’t been a great week Binmans PA and now you bring up Stevie G slipping over……..thanks
  13. Let’s be honest we are a soft target. Right now we deserve the criticism that is coming our way. We are also a very “nice club” that doesn’t like to rock the boat which also makes us an easy target. I would like for us to as a club openly stand up for ourselves and fly the flag a bit more than we do whether it be umpiring, tribunal decisions, facility funding. But honestly supporters getting precious or offended by people in the media criticising our Demons or Gary Lyon not sticking up for the club instead of calling them out is symptomatic of our soft underbelly. Honestly who gives a [censored] about the outside noise. It’s up to is as a club to change the narrative.
  14. #5 Nick Watson Small Forward | 24/02/2005 | 170cm | 67kg Stats: 13 disposals, 6 marks, 1 goal Watson spent plenty of time camped one-out inside 50 and getting under the skin of just about every Tasmanian defender. The mercurial small showcased great power when leading and leaping at the ball, playing above his size in that sense but also getting creative at ground level. There, he drew free kicks and burnt opponents with his turn of speed before delivering punchy passes by foot. After putting a couple of set shots wide, his lone goal came in the second quarter.
  15. No or at least I would hope not.You win first discuss later. You pick your best team to win finals……we didn’t.
  16. Couldn’t care less about Port tbh, but at least they used their sub and weren’t ahead on the weekend with about a minute to go in the game.We have gone from premiers to being knocked out in straight sets 2 years in a row.we blew it on so many levels and whatever comes our way from the media is deserved…… we just need to grin and bear it.
  17. I’m sorry but why, we deserve every bit of heat that is coming our way. We blew it twice within the space of 8 days and have lost 4 finals at the MCG in 2 years.
