  1. Article in today’s Age discussing Oliver’s recent turn around. One observer of our current #13 is former #13 Jordie McKenzie who appears to take quite a lot of interest in Clarry’s progress, loves watching him play and feels he can go on to greater heights while admitting that he (Jordie) was not quite good enough. I always liked McKenzie, a player who just didn’t quite have it but certainly gave his all.

  3. Has this been mentioned before? Sorry if I’m going over old ground. BUT: I heard mentioned during the game on Sunday that Kosi’s dad couldn’t attend the match because he was working as a stand up comic! I searched the net and found Kevin Kropinyeri and a further look on you You Tube produced some video footage: very funny man. Maybe some one with more skill than me can put a link!
  4. I can’t go past Gawn as BOG: a very exciting game and a joy to watch! 6: Gawn 5: Petracca 4: Viney 3: Langdon 2: Oliver 1: Weiderman
  5. “Unctuous” is a nice description of his style. Your correct, he really should have retired years ago! But back to young Weightman: another product of the Hailebury College football factory! They churn ‘em out down there!
  6. Bruce liked him (and so do I)!
  7. 6: Gawn 5: Viney 4: Petracca 3: Salem 2: Oliver 1: Hannan
  8. Hello palindrome ? Nice effort!
  9. So, after calming down and some hours of reflection:- 6: Brayshaw 5: Viney 4: Oliver 3: Hibberd 2: Gawn 1: Petracca
  10. Miller could be a very intimidating player who I think was suspended for rough play on a couple of occasions! His crash and bash approach caused injury to more than one opponent! Would he be a good fit to the Dee’s coaching panel, I don’t know, but I used to enjoy watching him as a development coach when he was with us ( and I enjoyed seeing his former wife as well)!
  11. He did apply for the Adelaide job as well last year which probably means he’s keen to get the top job somewhere at some time!
  12. I think Yze was coach of the backline at Hawthorn after his stint at the Box Hill Hawks. So I believe he’s had a few jobs at that club. And if as reported, Hawthorn fought to keep him on, he must be very valuable in their eyes. And as for his reported antipathy towards the Dee’s, I’m pretty sure I saw him all decked out in red and blue, along with other former players in a march to the G a few years ago. And further: if I remember correctly (could be wrong) Adem was well on the way to breaking the Stynes 244 continuous games record and was somehow stopped by the powers at the club, though details escape me! I don’t think he appreciated that!
  13. 6: Petracca 5: Gawn 4: Hunt 3: Oliver 2: Salem 1: Bennell, for working so hard to get back on the park?! Apologies to Langdon and Rivers.
  14. I spoke to Jim Stynes at a function just prior to the 2008 draft and he mentioned being concerned about a “go home” factor with Nic Nat and so it came to pass. I had the impression from that conversation that had it not been for the go home problem we would have picked Naitanui. But we picked Jack and that’s that!
  15. Quite correct, he’s Harley Bennell. (And Mozart wasn’t Beethoven)!
  16. The majority of the board are MFC supporters from the president Michael Happell down, so one more is not a bad thing. However I suspect Howcroft’s appointment to the board has nothing to do with his former affiliation to the footy club.
  17. So was I, all the phantom drafts said so! And isn’t hindsight a wonderful thing, Max would have been a tiger, the team he supported as a kid! Seriously, hang around for a decade or so and re do any draft, you’ll get a different result!
  18. I had real trouble trying on line a couple of weeks ago so in hope I phoned the club and got through to membership: so they are there just waiting to hear from you (and you and you and you also)!
  19. I was at that game Dr. G, the crowd flooded onto the ground and surrounded Clark, he had no hope. Umpires should have given him a clear run but the crowd would have become unmanageable (or more so than they were). Gee Windy Hill was such a nice place?!
  20. I remember that game very well: the umpires (forgot his name) decision was so bad he actually resigned a few days later citing that as the reason. And we cannot forget another Jim Stynes incident in 1987 - the worst of the lot!
  21. McCartin has other health issues as well: I understand: he is diabetic and needs insulin injections regularly. That together with the spectre of concussion hanging over his head (no pun) makes for a too risky prospect I believe. As far as I can remember his only good game was against us in 2018 (opposed to a very immature Harrison Petty)! And don’t forget Petty was showing a bit of ability up forward last season and we have young Jackson to debut if ever the football season starts again.
  22. Have the Rugolo brothers been mentioned, Frank and Joe? Short careers at the end of the last century if I remember correctly. The Rugolo family had/have a large panel beating business on Mt Alexander Road Ascot Vale.
  23. I’m not sure Is quite the correct adjective to describe many of these players. Was Scott Thompson ever obscure? Darren Kowal? I remember them well, as I do many of the others! Basil Onions, can’t remember him but I wish he played today, roving Brian would have a field day!
  24. We could be Geoffrey Edelsten’s plaything or maybe Clive Palmer’s! No Thanks I like the idea of being a member of a publically owned footy club!
  25. I took out a$15 per month 12 month sub a few weeks ago, can cancel anytime! So no sport, no continue!
