  1. Overs. Take that deal and run Timmy!
  2. The humiliating trade suggestions from nuffy supporters of other clubs on Twitter is almost as painful as the feedback we received in going out in straight sets two years running. If the Oliver rumour is of Melbourne’s doing, I want a 40% discount from NB that actually works as some form of compensation.
  3. Re. Tom Lynch, I saw him a couple of weeks ago walking VERY gingerly in a moon boot. This is what Richmond said about him way back in early July; “However, they confirmed on Thursday night that the 30-year-old would have a further operation on his foot and miss the rest of the campaign
. We have monitored the bone throughout the season, and the healing process has been slow”
  4. Never say never I suppose but a source much closer to him (than a minor sponsor at Hawthorn that is) has said he is happy at Dees and comfortable with the message that he is a required player. Can’t confirm this has always been the case but that’s how I understand it is at present.
  5. I’d be very surprised if Max let’s them rest him!
  6. He gets a whiff something might be happening (from any old source) and then throws it out as his own. On the rare occasion it lands, he parades it around like a cat with a dead bird
  7. Personally, I don’t like this. I’d prefer we go for a more balanced set up (petty + McAdam + someone like a Lobb or a Bailey Williams as the 2nd ruck/forward) and evolve our method going forward. Not sure my ticker could survive a season where our season is a Harry McKay form slump or Harry McKay ‘case of the yips’ away from getting blown out of contention.
  8. Known turnover merchant. Would’ve thought that’s the type we are trying to actively avoid this trade period?
  9. Mentioned briefly on another thread but there are some murmurs of ‘early concerns’ about his application
  10. Have enjoyed this thread. Completely agree that footy media (and footy supporters as a result) aren’t great judges on strategy - too emotionally led by short term results: We kick 9.17 in a final and lose and we DESPERATELY need to recruit an elite KPF
Collingwood kick 12.18 and win and they’re on the verge of a dynasty. Also agree that pace, decision making and skill are higher priorities than a key forward. Was at the game yesterday and whilst Coll not great in front of goal they were far more disciplined than us at lowering eyes going inside 50 and inside 50.
  11. B+ for the short term (crowds, exciting games etc). E for the long term (meaningful change on the concussion-front, development of women’s game, technology improving the game)
  12. Does he live out west? I saw him in a Yarraville supermarket a couple of years back
  13. You have some evidence of his tagging, respect. Genuinely couldn’t recall him in that role in the last 5 years, maybe because it was for only 3 of the last 120-odd games.
  14. Tell me two games since 2018 he played the majority of the match in a tagging role?
  15. I wonder which club has benefited most from free agency. That is, how many draft picks (or equivalent points) have they saved by recruiting players they didn’t need to trade for? Richmond with Lynch must be up there and Sydney with Buddy
  16. Feel like he had one season (‘18 from memory) where he was deployed as a tagger. That was 5 years ago.
  17. We kicked 16.28 in the last two games of the year. I love Choc, don’t get me wrong, but the hype around his ‘magical cure’ for poor-kicking is ridiculous.
  18. Completely off-piste if true. Why would we go for another young key tall who won’t be a huge amount of help to us for the next 2 years?
  19. I am going to the game on Saturday and taking a sign which reads “I’m Just Here To Boo Bruz”. If you don’t hear from me again, it’s genuinely been nice knowing all (most) of you.
  20. Surely Melbourne will have legally-reliable clarity on this before he is traded. It would be an absolute mess if this gets poked at post trade.
  21. Times have changed, the world is a much more inclusive place today and I’m confident they would set fire to ANYBODY - not just dwarves - if that happened today.
  22. Don’t the AFL have to tick off on all trades? Surely the AFL would look at this as a manipulation of the rules and reject it?
  23. Tough sell to a promising young guy in a back up role - come and be in another back up role, except with this one the main guy is zero chance of getting dropped for form and probably has a few years left in him.
  24. The myth of Mad Monday at the top level far exceeds the reality of it. Serious’/unsavoury Mad Monday incidents in the last 10 years at AFL level are rare. Mad Monday/Sloppy Sunday/Tanked Tuesday/Wiped Out Wednesday at local level is often a different story though (Glen Hawks a case in point).
  25. I read that as ‘experienced and strong’
