  1. I am going to the game on Saturday and taking a sign which reads ā€œIā€™m Just Here To Boo Bruzā€. If you donā€™t hear from me again, itā€™s genuinely been nice knowing all (most) of you.
  2. Surely Melbourne will have legally-reliable clarity on this before he is traded. It would be an absolute mess if this gets poked at post trade.
  3. Times have changed, the world is a much more inclusive place today and Iā€™m confident they would set fire to ANYBODY - not just dwarves - if that happened today.
  4. Donā€™t the AFL have to tick off on all trades? Surely the AFL would look at this as a manipulation of the rules and reject it?
  5. Tough sell to a promising young guy in a back up role - come and be in another back up role, except with this one the main guy is zero chance of getting dropped for form and probably has a few years left in him.
  6. The myth of Mad Monday at the top level far exceeds the reality of it. Seriousā€™/unsavoury Mad Monday incidents in the last 10 years at AFL level are rare. Mad Monday/Sloppy Sunday/Tanked Tuesday/Wiped Out Wednesday at local level is often a different story though (Glen Hawks a case in point).
  7. I read that as ā€˜experienced and strongā€™

canā€™t we just coach our way out of this problem? Play with the play book before you play with the personnel theyā€™re not elite disposers of the ball, but theyā€™re not awful and they have been instructed to kick it quickly to a contest.
  9. I saw a tall bloke at the shops earlier - donā€™t know if heā€™s any good but Iā€™ll ask him if he can kick straight

he has accepted less than his going rate for years at G, as a sign of loyalty and to keep the team together for success. Just canā€™t see why that would change for 1 year to make $300k more (which gets whacked down to $150k after tax) - heā€™ll get looked after in business and life immensely down that way in retirement if he stays a 1-club person
  11. Part trade rumour/ part trade anxiety: I worry about Pettyā€™s name coming up during the period. Some murmurings of Adel throwing his name in the mix for McAdam trade (which we all scoffed at) but if you think about it, as a rare, flexible tall who is on the up, Iā€™m pretty sure his market value would be much much higher than his current pay packetā€¦ Also youā€™d expect our plan is to groom him a forward to suit our needsā€¦ whoā€™s to say that doesnā€™t suit him?

The other unusual aspects to consider are; - this isnā€™t like the risk of Jackson or Kossie getting homesick - there is the lure of being the first marquee player (and very well paid) for the long-awaited new side in their home state - the unknown of compensation for losing the player, but I think general consensus is we would get somewhere between ā€˜nothingā€™ and ā€˜not enoughā€™ (most likely less than weā€™d be compensated if trading a player back to Perth). If the argument is ā€˜we need to build for the long termā€™ then the above two considerations mean it is a hard NO for me. If the argument is ā€˜our window is openā€™ and ā€˜we need to recruit for the nowā€™ then surely we use pick 5 to trade in a more established player that offers better immediate value (over the next 4 years).

Best case scenario is he is a gun (which you would hope for at that pick) but if he is a gun he becomes Tassieā€™s #1 priority and we get 4 seasons out of a kidā€¦ isnā€™t the goal generally 10yr+ players from a top end draft pick? What am I missing here? edit: wouldnā€™t a better chance of 10 years out of somewhere perhaps not quite as talented being a better outcome for the club?
  14. Neale polling out of his backside. Got 3 votes in a 20 touch (0 goal, 6 clearance, 70 DT points) game against GWS
  15. Trac now favourite on the exchange too, the real indicator
  16. I would be VERY surprised if Trac is sub 25, let alone sub 20.
  17. Moyle from GC is having a game in this vfl gf geeze
  18. Surely not. His life is pretty well set up on a farm near Geelong and the cats would consider themselves as ā€˜in the windowā€™ as we are. Heā€™s not leaving for money or success for 1 yr
  19. Sam Power was recently whingeing that their depth has been impacted by having to cough up multiple picks to pay for top end NGA/father-son picksā€¦ and then he does this 2 weeks later
  20. Not sure if it the official view at the club but Iā€™ve heard Jed Adams isnā€™t up to it. Less about talent and more about application
  21. When do Brown and TMac contracts expire? Surprised Brown hasnā€™t called time - his body consistently fails him. A development role alongside his AFLW role could be the sweetener to take him off the list.

We should go after Luke Jackson from Freo, he looked good and in the right age bracket to replace max in a coupla years. Our pick 5 should get it done.
  23. Incentive for clubs to irresponsibly slash and burn a bad list.
