Angus Brayshaw Forced into Retirement
Re. Brayshawâs payout; âFellow AFL 360 co-host Mark Robinson called for the funds to be taken from inside Melbourneâs salary cap.â And then he goes on to qualify that with; âMy gut feel is if you sign someone to a long-term deal â I donât want to be flippant about this but unless someone passes or literally canât play football beyond circumstances it should go in the cap.â ummm is being forced to medically retire pretty much exactly âcanât play football beyond circumstancesâ? the Slobinator really Knows how to push my buttons.

No Stats for Umps for Brownlow Voting
I like the idea of them casting votes before sighting stats and then getting the opportunity to review/amend their votes in light of the stats. Helps avoid stats-bias in their instinctive decision but also allows them to correct any howlers that perhaps they got wrong because their mind was elsewhere in the game (ie officiating it).

Next AFL CEO
Had a lunch once with Dillon, Gill and others senior people in the AFL (as part of a partnership agreement). I was seated next to Dillon and the late Ray Gunston - both lovely blokes and very friendly. Gil, on the other hand, was arrogant and rude. Hope Dillon gets a decent crack at it, a significantly better human than the last two blokes in the chair.

Sam Van Rooyen in for Ben Brown on LTI?
No, we wouldnât, but with talk now on this thread that Adam Tomlinson might be the solution up forward I am beginning to worry weâre entering a terrifying phase of Melbourne Football Club Supporter Forward Line Concern Syndrome.

Targeting Max
Our game plan isnât based on Max taking marks. Our game plan is actually based on ball coming to ground and contested possession, of which Maxâs ruckwork is the starting point. The marks are a bonus.

CASEY: Practice Match vs Port Melbourne
Letâs just say I didnât have AFL recruiters knocking down my door. For all of his shortcomings at the top level, Brent was actually a fairly handy junior footballer

The Premiership Window Closing?
Our lack of fight at the right time in important matches of recent memory is the thing that is worrying me most at the moment⊠weâre hungry and brave in the first five minutes and then go cold when the game is on the line. Glad someone thinks this is easy to fix. I couldnât think of anything harder to fix. Silver lining I suppose but the 15 minutes we play poorly seems to be the most important 15 minutes of games.

CASEY: Practice Match vs Port Melbourne
Going to be hard playing from the back pocket! Brent Grgic kicked 10 on me from a half back flank in school footy once⊠I chalked it up as a âlearning opportunityâ

PODCAST: Opening Round vs Sydney
One perhaps for Senor @binman: It feels like is weâve become pretty good at jumping teams early with contested possession and forward thrusts, but with the 5-10 mins of dominance yielding no scoreboard pressure. Is it possible to look at pressure rating for parts of a quarter - i.e first 5 mins - for the Sydney match and then our two pre-season matches? Starting to feel we may well be better off reserving some gas early parts of a match and picking off the opposition like they do us.

POSTGAME: Opening Round vs Sydney
Iâm holding. Our bottom third were poor tonight. Laurie, Schache, chandler, etc. I think Billings sub was an error but only a minor one. Our bottom 1/3 was our strength in the premiership year. Not too concerned about our ability to claw that back in the next few weeks. Iâve heard from a reputable source the club would be VERY happy to be 3/3 after first 6 rounds so buckle in legends .

PREGAME: Opening Round vs Sydney
AFL.com.auâs predicted Sydney backline; Lloyd. McCartin. Rampe Florent. Blakey. Jordon They are tiny. And that is weird. Never been a fan of using a tall as a sub but on a small ground Iâd be throwing everything in the height bucket against these smurfs. edit. Looking a bit more closely at their predicted side, it appears the work experience kid mightâve been thrown this one.

2024 Experts Predictions
I know Ben. Heâs more of a âvibeâ guy than a âdata pointsâ guy

2024 MRO & Tribunal
Going to be a mouth-watering contest for the 500 in the crowd

2024 MRO & Tribunal
reducing the penalty by 1 week (from the AFLâs requested 8) is the most arbitrary thing Iâve seen for a while.

Tasmanian AFL Team
Selfishly, Iâm not looking forward to the drafting and recruiting chaos it will cause. The whole league gets shaken up to introduce a new team and Iâm not in love with the idea of doing this for a team thatâll be all of the localsâ â2nd favourite teamâ. Having said all of that, I think it is a wise choice for future economic benefit in the state and will benefit the next generation. Early years will be strange though.

Tom Sparrow Re-Signs Until 2026
It does seem odd that they would âask about his availabilityâ in February, a 23yo premiership player who has just dominated a practice match. What do they expect Melbourne to say âsure, yep, weâve been thinking about getting rid of him anywayâ. Either made up story or Adelaide just leak this stuff to put pressure on Melbourne ahead of contract negotiations, still seeking retribution for the loss of Lever.

Tom Sparrow Re-Signs Until 2026
I didnât realise the offer to Petty was so big⊠and from memory Adelaide were insinuating a Petty-for-McAdam swap would be about right?

Tom Sparrow Re-Signs Until 2026
Stunned this is still in âtalksâ. Melbourne: âplease exempt his salary from our cap or weâll begin talking about our concerns that the AFL isnât doing enough to protect our playersâ wellbeingâ AFL: âsounds fair. Help yourself to some mentos on the way outâ

Kudos for club's Messaging
Excuse the naivety but what does âbeing near the bottom of the ladderâ mean? Is it that we have fewer positive results from tests or fewer tests in total?
