  1. Plenty of example of plays like this that don’t come off in year 1 but they settle and turn out ok.
  2. Do all high tackles/bumps that go to the tribunal get classified as ‘rough conduct’ as Kozzie’s has?

That’s not true. I think a) the style of football that group was built to play is becoming less effective in the modern game and b) there are ENORMOUS question marks on whether the two most critical players in that mix will get back to anywhere near their best. That’s why I’ve given up on them. They need some help.

You’ve got your head in red-and-blue sand if you think we don’t have significant issues in the middle of the ground.
  5. Was playing his best footy - as were Freo - when he was rucking one-out with Darcy on the sidelines
was shocked they paired him with that no-name ruckman last night (although we should go after that no-name given the state of our back-up rucking situation)
  6. Will be a very good player when the consistency comes but by then Windsor will be a star of the comp.
  7. Gomez Addams one would be a real collectors item if Norf had any supporters

I reckon Tim Lamb would be quietly happy with this outcome.

We’d have 36 tall forwards on the list, we’d have KPIs centred around ‘kicking the bloody thing’ but there would be ongoing indecision about whether the coach is the right person for the job.
  10. I’m pragmatic and understand the value of a higher draft pick but a win is more important this time around in building belief for this group and giving them a sense of unity before they head into their next pre-season
  11. People who measure leadership by media presence are naive. Eddie McGuire’s loud mouth shouldn’t be our benchmark for successful presidential leadership. There are a lot of complex things happening in our club right now. The Lawrence stuff, finding a home / lobbying for funding and all the player stuff we’re well aware of. I couldn’t confidently say she is a good or bad leader but that is because a lot of those items are unresolved. I’ll judge her when those items are resolved OR if they aren’t resolved soon. I won’t be judging her on how often I hear her voice.
  12. Lynch makes a lot of sense
huge money owed to him on a back-ended contract so we’d need to cough something decent up if we want them to help pay.
  13. I’ve read enough of Demonland to be CERTAIN that this development means our dynasty window has re-opened.

Wright confirmed not returning to Collingwood. How long before the ‘Wright IN, Richardson OUT’ chat begins?
  15. Humphrey had 8 touches at 50% yesterday. He looked very ordinary.

Appears his poor-decision making isn’t an isolated incident.
  17. Jack: “dad, Timmy Lamb is low-balling me on a new deal
can you tell Clarko I’m interested in bashing some heads in the midfield for you guys
. A bit of media coverage should add a few bucks and another year onto my deal at the Dees”
  18. First Fly comments on trading in Petracca and now Clarko on trading in Viney
. Since when was it ok for opposition coaches to comment on recruiting contacted players from other clubs mid season?
  19. The Jackson FIX replied to Travy14's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
I agree they don’t do those things, but the plan is NOT to do those things
. I don’t agree with that as a plan but he is coaching to plan is my argument. I’m not close enough to it to understand if he is capable of coaching to a different plan but the fact he is one of few out of contract will probably mean he is sacrificed year-end regardless.

Not sure that is Stafford’s fault - Goodwin’s game plan is to create repeat contest deep-ish in F50, not attempt to create space.

Mini is contracted but gee whiz I’d be scratching away and what he added to the mix this year. Gus retiring and Oliver’s issues massive headwinds but we went backwards in the middle part of the ground this year (even before KBD game)
  22. We’re missing quality (and volume) in that 25-ish age bracket
particularly ones who use the ball well and move it quickly. I believe we can get back into contention with some savvy recruiting so I would be trading away draft capital to do this (assuming we can actually attract the players we would like, that is).

I used to like him - and occasionally defend him - but he has become increasingly radical in his pursuit for attention/ratings/differentiation and, as a result, has lost any balance in his reporting. The Kossie comment was actually ‘is there anyone more talented that delivers less than Kossie Pickett?’. It was ridiculous rhetoric. Very difficult to argue people are harsh on him when he says stuff like that.
  24. The Jackson FIX replied to dazzledavey36's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Fair? “Has there ever been a player with as much talent giving so little output as Kossie Pickett?” That’ comment is as far away from ‘fair’ as I can imagine.

Fascinated to understand who leaked the ‘Trac is unhappy’ story. If it was Trac trying to force a trade it was naive because he was never going to be traded with 5 years left. If it was Trac trying to force the club’s hand to make change for the better it was also naive because now it makes us look like a basket case and we’re already suffering with the Dan Houston decision. If it was some coterie type because they’d had a gutful of watching us lose games from their leather armchair in the long room then that decision in its own right may have actually set fire to any remaining hope we can acquire the players that might help us get out of this mess.
