Yet probably twice the IQ
-
The article is flimsy, because Morris is hedging his bets, but I posted my concerns about Petty a week ago (or so) after hearing the club wasn’t entirely confident he wouldn’t request a trade in the short term.
-
Their trading forecasts are mostly laughable. They’re just looking for a segment to fill time and to bait people for conversation (which again fills time). His trade value will be determined by the perceived ‘severity’ of his issues (which the guys at trade radio don’t know yet) and how much of his salary Melbourne are prepared to pay (which they also don’t know yet). I am not a list manager but my guess is if Melbourne’s plan is to snare top end talent in the draft they might be prepared to pay some of his salary for a fee years to maximise the trade return but if the plan is to go after a tier 1 KPF then we’ll be less willing to cover any of his salary and the return will be a fair bit lower

How long before we start getting linked with Ollie Wines?
-
If you’re a handy ex-player with 100 games under your belt, I’d advise you to reconsider. We may need you the way this off-season is playing out.
-
This is a place of opinions, so you’re entitled to yours. My opinion is you and I probably know less than 10% of what has transpired/is transpiring and we’re therefore incapable of reliably diagnosing what state of ‘repair’ the relationship is in. I’ll defer my trust to those that known more than 10% of what is going on.
-
You have close to zero idea what they have been doing or attempting to do with him over the last 12+ months. Me too. That’s my point. Who’s to say they haven’t attempted on many occasions but he’s not responding sufficiently well to those attempts ?
-
I am not disagreeing. I understand it (from people who are closer to him than me - I’ve never met him) to have been an ’ongoing’ slide rather than just a brain snap
-
What Collingwood did with De Goey and Richmond did with Dusty is irrelevant. There is not one person on this forum, or one supporter who understands anywhere near as much about what is going on as those making decisions at the club. The ongoing assumption that ‘Melbourne just aren’t putting their arms around Clarry’ like Collingwood did with De Goey is naive.
-
I don’t think that was recent. Maybe 12+ months ago. Went to last year’s Brownlow with a different girl from memory

Imagine the fun Libba would have with Clayton’s tattoo gun
-
They’re BOTH just very naughty boys!
-
This is all still very raw but at this point in time I’m just hoping this 2 and 3 know that homemade tattoo guns aren’t a great idea.

Overs. Take that deal and run Timmy!

The humiliating trade suggestions from nuffy supporters of other clubs on Twitter is almost as painful as the feedback we received in going out in straight sets two years running. If the Oliver rumour is of Melbourne’s doing, I want a 40% discount from NB that actually works as some form of compensation.

Re. Tom Lynch, I saw him a couple of weeks ago walking VERY gingerly in a moon boot. This is what Richmond said about him way back in early July; “However, they confirmed on Thursday night that the 30-year-old would have a further operation on his foot and miss the rest of the campaign…. We have monitored the bone throughout the season, and the healing process has been slow”
-
Never say never I suppose but a source much closer to him (than a minor sponsor at Hawthorn that is) has said he is happy at Dees and comfortable with the message that he is a required player. Can’t confirm this has always been the case but that’s how I understand it is at present.
-
I’d be very surprised if Max let’s them rest him!
-
He gets a whiff something might be happening (from any old source) and then throws it out as his own. On the rare occasion it lands, he parades it around like a cat with a dead bird
-
Personally, I don’t like this. I’d prefer we go for a more balanced set up (petty + McAdam + someone like a Lobb or a Bailey Williams as the 2nd ruck/forward) and evolve our method going forward. Not sure my ticker could survive a season where our season is a Harry McKay form slump or Harry McKay ‘case of the yips’ away from getting blown out of contention.

The 2023 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
The Jackson FIX replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Known turnover merchant. Would’ve thought that’s the type we are trying to actively avoid this trade period? -
Mentioned briefly on another thread but there are some murmurs of ‘early concerns’ about his application
-
Have enjoyed this thread. Completely agree that footy media (and footy supporters as a result) aren’t great judges on strategy - too emotionally led by short term results: We kick 9.17 in a final and lose and we DESPERATELY need to recruit an elite KPF… Collingwood kick 12.18 and win and they’re on the verge of a dynasty. Also agree that pace, decision making and skill are higher priorities than a key forward. Was at the game yesterday and whilst Coll not great in front of goal they were far more disciplined than us at lowering eyes going inside 50 and inside 50.

Has this been a good year for the AFL?
The Jackson FIX replied to layzie's topic in Melbourne Demons
B+ for the short term (crowds, exciting games etc). E for the long term (meaningful change on the concussion-front, development of women’s game, technology improving the game) -
Does he live out west? I saw him in a Yarraville supermarket a couple of years back
