RETURN TO NEVERLAND by Whispering Jack
Great posts, everyone. i was 13 in 1965 and shattered by the Barassi defection. I still remember reading in the paper how Barassi had made Carlton United and Melbourne Bitter.

Great stuff! And seeing Jack Viney kick a goal reminds me that, indeed, anything is possible.

POSTGAME: Rd 23 vs Geelong
Amazing win, especially considering we only had about six or seven who played to their normal standard (or thereabouts). Oliver, Gawn, Lever, Salem, Langdon, Viney and maybe Harmes. Gives us confidence that when there’s a whole team effort we can beat anyone.

Sacred terminology
Another that gets me is when the commentators refer to the Melbourne Football Club instead of Team. Eddie does it all the time. It’s the Team that plays the game, not the Club. The Club includes all of the staff and members.

“Winning” is the new drug
Great job, Deesigner. 👏 I’ll spend hours on this site. I hope there will be plenty of content in the off season too.

Majak Daw off-the-ball incident
Grinter was one of the most skilful players we had in the past 50 years. He could take a speccy, had clean ball handling skills and his kicking was Travis Johnstone standard. Sure. I didn’t say he had no skill. I said he didn’t have the skill of Crosswell and Rhys-Jones. You may still disagree and slap your faces, but that’s how I remember the three of them.
