  1. Another illogical "Tmac can play wing" comment. We have just seen half a season of Tmac being missed at CHF and our forward line a mess when it's counted. Other than the fact that Tommy only played "cameos" for 5/6 minutes in 2018(5 years ago and 2or 3 ankle/foot/leg issues since !!!) starting on the wing before he went to forward to Play CHF successfully. But to say he can play wing because of his engine is a very long bow. Five years on his turning circle ( not small in any time or position) and pace will not be the answer. In 2021 and half of 2022 he again played a pivotal role at CHF providing a strong marking presence kicking goals ( around 50 ) and a reliable strong competitiveness bringing the ball to the ground for the crumbers and smalls to goal. That's what we missed last part of last season. Tmac still to play For Pocket / FF/ CHF role in 2023 and rotate with Petty ( and JVR). Agree with Petty forward and marking potential. Necessary experiment to start in beginning of the season. Turner definitely replacement if not Tommo but Disco is potentially a strong chance to succeed. To complete the trio JVR starts as FF to straighten us up and compete. Use his leading and marking prowess and gain experience simultaneously using his strong team skills and ethos he has shown in his one VFL season. The smalls Kossie Spargs ANB Chandler and maybe Laurie should all benefit along with The 50 goals plus Fritta and Gawny and Brodie stints down forward. As has been proven this mix will test all defences with a more consistent game plan and mix of skills needing a very good defensive plan to keep all in check. Nothing is assured but this seems to me to be the plan we need to compete again with Geelong and any other forward line in the AFL.
  2. They obviously did. Kossie and Riv signed for 2 then but Jacko only one so it would have been the same discussion but a different result. But yes the red flag reared its head then!
  3. But we may turn the picks we have into a top 10 player/s this draft or 2023. For 2 firsts snd one second and only Jacko and pick 67 it's better than most other draft picks totals, more than for Jake Lever who many Dees fans thought was "overs" before 2021 and May still. I don't and think we will get our rewards back in the next 2 drafts snd be stronger than ever.
  4. Agree BDA like about 8/10 of our players who the MC snd Goody didn't handle well during 2023.
  5. I was concerned back when Riv and Kossie extended their deals by 2 years and LJ did only ONE YEAR at that time. Ever since I was convinced this trade scenario was the most likely to play out, no matter what results or happenings occurred. Once he didn't sign early this year it was even more obvious of his intentions. I can't be angry with Jacko but are very disappointed as I believe we treated him well. He thanked Melb warmly in his interview with WA Sportsday and I have just the feeling although he is wrapped to be at Freo now being with his mates may prove a distraction or it could help him go to great heights as a player. Good luck Dogga you are a freak and 1 will never forget seeing you in the GF help our mighty Club break that drought and you become a Demon Legend.
  6. What about a living away from home clause for extra pay? Ie buy them fir a bit extra afl clause with limitations.
  7. Dont know about that but he has attempted to contact all players and Staff inc. coaches personally and messaged his thanks etc. Do please don't go on a witch hunt KITP.
  8. Sorry Stiff Arm gif mit read your post correctly and you made exactly the very good point that we agreed upon. Poach the Vics boys back!!!
  9. They are Vics returning home actually, but that is the way we can approach this situation. An eye for an eye !!
  10. Give Salo a chance Champion 2021 and got injured in 1st 5 mins if the season snd was bought back in AFL too soon as was Rivers Lever who continually got injured.
  11. Yes 44 from GWS to us and our 67 both passed on to Freo in Jacko trade. We got Freo 2ND Future Rounder. As a result .
  12. May is about as likely to play forward seriously for MFC than give up drinking. Petty is the gun.
  13. Class and style MFC Of which some D/L ers are born without. Let's just think of that 3rd quarter in the GF and know we are the winner for having Jacko as a member of that fabulous 23 and that can NEVER EVER be taken off his CV or highlight reel. Thank you Dogga and good luck Toby.
  14. How about we wait for about 5 years and see what we got out of Jacko Toby and 3rd and fourth rounders! Remember we have a 13 ( reckon we will upgrade that with GWS or Gold Coast or another Club looking for points by Wed night) future 1st and 2nd rounders from Freo who will do well to be SIXTH next season. Plus we still haven't touched 27 which should go to Pies with a future 3rd rounder or the like and we get Grundy. AND THE REAL DEAL is 3 selections for 3 A orB grade footballers which we have no idea how good they may be but we will back our List Managers to get the best for the Club. WE GAVE AWAY in between A possible A Grade Generational Star and dynamic forward OR an average bits and pieces ex basketballer who is not up for an extensive career in the grind of AFL and hangs out with mates more than he should. Bedford is a chance of improving but again we don't know his pace is his weapon and the two picks of 44 and 67 could yield Tom Gillies or Tommmy Mac Donald (or even Oscar.). Just the same as we claim the jury is still out on the Kelly pick with Salo Hunty and whatever, I reckon in 5 years time we will know a lot more who won etc. If we win a flag or two in the time very few of us will even worry as long as Freo or GWS don't beat us in aFinal in the time in between!! We have 3 picks from 1 st and 2 Nd round which we should be excited about, with 2 next year in a very strong predicted draft plus our 1st rounder so let's get excited about that!! Too many D/Lers are like Dodoro and think we can WIN every trade without knowing who our chips that we will be playing with are and how they will develop. In JT and Crew we trust .
  15. where's Jack Carroll now? And what's he done?
  16. I mentioned that you may have missed it because of your poor judgement. Weid has improved his competitiveness in the ruck and most Casey and /L ers agreed his work in the last half of the season mostly on his own was both his best and most impactful with the packs and round the ground. No One in their right mind would go in with Harmes and Joel Smith as AFL rucks less the ground was an absolute bog. Yes setting up right is vital but goes both ways either your taps or opponents do why not get your own as well. Your assessment of Weids contribution in the ruck to Casey Demons Flag is both insulting and inaccurate in view of the whole hearted effort and absolute attitude plus improvement that he produced in the last half a season.
  17. You didn't see Weid in the Casey jumper near the end of the year Smith or Harmes are not tall enough to compete in AFL even Smith's jumping would not be impactful. That's why we will keep a Weid for rucking as the SC and Goody don't share your views about our second stringers.
  18. Yes DZ agree Turner can step up or Smithy if Petty goes forward.
  19. Recruited in 2021 both!! And we are playing JVR to take over next year.
  20. FWIW Tommo was not as flexible in 2022 after his injury in 2021. So he could be better like Josh Bruce the year after his fist year back also!
  21. It's partly the way we played in 2022 and fitness of BBB and Tmac. Also.
  22. Just wait and see It's the forward line as a whole that matters 2021 proved that. Melb has rarely had a star forward ( ie leading goal kicker) but has numerous players on the firward line that kick goals and play team footy.
