Change Gawn on HF line to FPocket and Chandler to FFlank in Tmacs possie and Tmac is CH F. Much better balanced
-
With 5 interchange I don't necessarily agree. You don't always select the 19th to 23rd best player for the interchange positions. Much can depend upon form injury a horses for courses need and heaven forbid Goody and Selection Committee opening their eyes to our top 30 players and not the 23 heroes that famously won our 13th flag. Let's hope this is the direction all season where players are rewarded with AFL selection and our depth proves that our list is 32 deep rather than 23!!

Probably giving existing seat holders opportunity to renew before allocating ( if any new seats reservations become available).any new reservations. Hopefully after that time there is a new area for further seat reservations.

Oh and no free ??!!!

Cox just jumps into Macy's back in a crude way and injured him that way ( on QB)

Our interesting mix of talls for 2023

Sorry DD Tommy was injured in The Freo game and no more AFL available for2022. Multiply 15 in 10 rounds then say 24 rounds is 36 goals snd the others he brings from smalls and mids etc. We severely missed him in 2022. -
The 2023 AFL Pre-season Supplemental Selection Period (SSP)
58er replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Really that is a two edged sword as if TB is selected then it's either a small defender who may even play elsewhere like HF or mid something eventually. If we go for Kye then another interceptor type is available. Do we need that? Turner you seem more with it so TB may not be as I thought a small forward? Where does all this leave AZM Taj Deakyn Smith and Judd McPhee ?? -
Our interesting mix of talls for 2023

Thanks DFA I regard Tmac as our "irreplaceable " tall forward over BBB simply because he has over the period since 2018 been more effective and at least if not better in serving as head of our attack. Yes Benny had a better last third in 2021 but Tommy set up for the first two thirds in 2021, kicked over 50 in 2018 and was a star in 10 games for us in the unbeaten run in 2022. Despite some figures presented on D/L I think Tommy has more effects and positive form for all the other forwards when at CHF.in our team. However I won't ever forget that fabulous run from Round 20 by BBB where he was playing tall and the team got it right in its use of Him plus he marked around the Flanks to great benefit. Tmac also is great when in form for his competitiveness down the ground also his slick goalkicking in the30m arc. Both in form are match winners and I believe both JVR and Fritta could still play with them due to their excellent ground skills and snap shooting prowess at times. I must admit leaving either ANB or Charlie out of our forward line was hard but we must move on from our 2021 heroes st some stage and search for a sharper goal kicker for one of them I believe. Chandler by all accounts is giving himself every chance on top of his excellent 2022 to be selected on form this season. And someone must make way if JVR is also in the mix.Again team mix is vital no doubt. We will all have an opinion but some changes must be made for improvement and a revamped game style if our forward line in 2023 is to provide more goals than in 2022. -

I must admit that I am surprised and disappointed that some of the above posters have not shown enough faith in Tmac for his role in this coming season. Most Demon fans I believe are convinced that the loss of Tommy from Round 11 contributed majorly to our second half inconsistency especially on the forward line. The game plan also IMO and BBB 's injury also were reasons plus our slow ball movement into attack. Further to that was the fact that both Spargo and ANB did not replicate their stellar 2021 seasons and about 20 goals were missing from them. Also Trac kicked 10.26 or similar I think and was also 15/20 goals shy of his 2021 output. Along with tjis was the selection Cttee and Simon not giving Chandler Bedford a decent run and possibly even Bowey Laurie or Howes through form or injury not being tried on the forward line. We know that JVR was also not tried but was close to selection from about around 20 as he was named an emergency for the last 6 games. Fast forward to 2023 and all except Bedford are now available for consideration with Grundy Schache and maybe later ( or earlier) depending upon form and development in Jefferson ( lightly framed but has very good goal kicking craft) and Sestan ( appears to have excellent kicking skills and robust physique to be competitive) but his endurance and fitness may be a query especially in the early rounds. How do we come up with the right mix of forwards inc. talls mids and smalls.? If all are fit and available I would line up in Round1 as: HF Chandler Tmac Fritsch FF Pickett Brown Van Rooyen Either Spargo OR ANB would be in the 5 Interchange selections. Others to run through or rest or change in the Forward line during the game could be: Gawn Grundy Petty Petracca Harmes Hunter Schache ( if in 23) Jordan ( if in 23) Sestan (when fit enough and if in form) late in year Verrall or Jefferson May be developed enough or even Kossies mate Trent might be a chance if he joins as a SSP selection. So we have plenty of choices but firm and fitness plus game plan and connectivity are all important issues yo consider. I reckon we all consider that Fritta and Kossie will both continue their 55+ and 40+ goals contributions. I also happen to believe if Tmac plays then another 25/30 goals plus will be added to the mix!! We await with baited breath what Stafford the Coach can do with this eclectic group of goalkickers and forwards in our quest for our 14th Flag. -

No Tmac is more versatile and contributes so that the smalls can crumb better. -
Time will tell but we didn't get Lachie to play out in the wind at Casey. JJ could still also be in the top 23 on the ball perhaps.

Take 2 out for Clarry and Lachie. !!! Bowey?? Did u forget or was he not up to it today?

The 2023 AFL Pre-season Supplemental Selection Period (SSP)
58er replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
But Kye Turner is a HB interceptor type. Trent Is a small HF goal type who has had a long injury run since 2020. Why would you want TB if you believe we need a HB or defender type, even though some are not contracted yet for 2024. -
They ( Suns) had a lot of injuries last season esp. in defence so it makes sense to give Mac a go at AFL in the last 4 games. After all it was really a learning curve fit Mac in 2022. Best thing is to use Clarry as an example snd hie he moved on. Can't believe the Suns have strung out Mac's penalties to early season Rounds 1 and 2. Far too long as well as practice matches for this as he will get a licence Penalty plus financial fine which every day will remind him of his decision making. Hope he comes out if this and matures quickly and his footy develops greatly in 2023. Also Charlie Curnow was caught on same charge around his draft month and seemed to have been a model since. Part of young men especially growing up and learning ( unfortunately Sydney Stack has not been able to show the same development ) Tyson Stengel has with a lot of Eddie Betts family TLC in 2022. Eddie has left Cats so wonder how TS will be in 2023.

Thanks KM. Bailey was not assessed as in Top 10 Forward by HUN recently but Lipinsky of Cwood was a top 10 in mids of the AFL! Please how ridiculous. Bailey is an A grader now with 55 goals each in 2021/2 and of course his fabulous best in the GF Flag win. With JVR learning now plus MJ as a new player this year that's potentially 3 medium/ talls with fantastic skills in forward craft. Might not be this year but when they are mixed with say Tmac/BBB and our other smalls/mids I cannot see how our forward line will not be our strength in the very near future. Those 3 stars have each got a forwards brain and skills eg goal kicking and snapping goals plus a hint of ball skills to sniff out goals others only dream of. Add Kossie and the straight kicking of BBB and T Mac I wonder whether our wasted shots are a thing if the past? Even Howes and Chandler are a real chance to join this bunch very soon!! Very exciting times ahead forward of centre if our players play to a game plan and at a high speed.
-
Really depends upon how our new look forward line with JVR goes I reckon. Also BBB and Tmac plus I think from training that Chandler is doing every thing right to earn a spot. Plenty of options really.
-
Yep one year is one tooo loooong!!!
-
I am going on the track watchers Foopy about Tmac. Looks set for a good season on his training so far! Basically we both agree about his need to be at CHF. He is a beast really in man on man and pack situations and gives off so much to the other forwards.
-
Agree absolutely BBP.
-
Agree
-
What are you talking about? Half a season !!! He has been training since Day 1 before Cmas. Like before 2021 he is doing extra to try to ensure he is as fit as can be. The track watchers have already indicated he is looking and performing back pretty well and he is doing the running part really well. You have chosen to recall his poor recovery in 2020 after his leg issues in 2019. And completely forgotten his excellent contribution especially the first two thirds of the season to our Flag in 2021. Also last year his form up till he was injured was again very good. As most smart Demon fans have realised our forward line missed Tmac's marking, competing and Body work which enabled our smaller forwards ( and Fritta) to capitalise on his presence. No doubt we would have gone further had Tommy been playing all year. He will be special for JVR as he starts his career this season and assist his development no end as well as star himself again.

Go Dees in 2023 BJ
-
And??? So strange that Tmac is AGAIN like prior to 2021 doing everything he can to be his best in 2023 to help win another flag!! Really strange this??? Amazing Well done Tmac!
-
Agree DZ I always felt that was a hit in the head between our eyes he did only a ONE year extension. No problems then with Riv Kossie and of course JVR who looks totally embraced by his time at the Dees. I can't wait till hopefully Round1 to see JVR Brodie Lachie and if Schache makes the team it will be some opening. Dogs have similar new recruits in Robb Jones and Sauce Baker who I hope plays but don't think he will.! So it's a big test for both teams with Sean Darcy to continue his career in the backline most likely. This' continued rivalry keeps on giving so 50,000 plus at the G is the minimum that night!! Bring it on !!!
