That’s what I did 2 Covid isolation weeks in SA Lucky I had 4 cousins each in differing parts of Adelaide two of them and others in Port Elliot and Normanton south of McLarenVale. Also saw on the Island. Kangaroos Island for 2 days, lovely diversion. Got Granny tickets whilst travelling on the bus on the Island. Wonderful fortnight and off to Perth on the Friday night Eve before the game. Was staying with friend in Perth who was working on Perth buses and he dropped me at a Depot where the bus started. Great seats on the wing just under cover in Melb section beautiful day even saw Rooyey kick winning goal for WA vs SA in their Championship game. All good till 2nd quarter and 19 pts lead in third as we kicked 5.9 by half time and Dogs put on two in the third. Was worried then Harmesy passing and Fritta twice goaling got us going then BBB plus the great winger Angus goals to put us in front. Then in the last two minutes bang bang bang from Trac Sparrow and Clarry and a 24 pt lead at 3/4 time. Reckon BBB’s goal after a great kick from Tommy Sparrow was the sealer early in the last. We piled on goals to Lingers Fritta (2) a day out with 6 !! Plus singles to ANB Jacko Salo and Tmac 2 one after the siren with only one reply of a goal from the Dogs was sheer bliss for a 74 point win. Nirvana!!! Then the presentations plus catching up with a friends son for drinks and a taxi ride after to My hosts place and an overdue coffee and congratulatory calls from Brisbane friends that night and Dees friends in the morning. More Nirvana!!! Home on the Wed after a trip to the South East near Albany at my friends friends place for 2 days after dropping into Perth Forrest Place for the Sunday Melbourne supporters function at 11 am. Another Nirvana!!. PS had the wonderful watch of the 81 pt thrashing of the “Covid Cats” in the Prelim at my cousins also. Nirvana!! Extraordinary 20 days in Paradise and numerous stages of Nirvana throughout!!

I also know what you are referring to but it’s a decade ago. Give it a go move on. Houston changed his mind and Bassett did also. Actually so did one of the Jarmans !! Was 25/30 years ago. Have you forgiven him ?
-
That info says he hardly cleared off from Port. They called time on him it seems. And it was after 8 years as well. That’s hardly leaving a by Club in the church. Wouldn’t want to be employed by you Bluey all you have done is blemish Nathan for long service and loyalty. I would think Goody would be all over SA assistants and be very aware of their credentials. Thank goodness.

All I will say about MFCSS is attic we keep being negative and whinging and thinking the world is against us we will not help our team or Club. I am finding it very hard to understand the lack lustre reaction to our Feasibility Phase approval after so many posters over the last few years pilloried the delays and other details of our base not happening. Most have countered with doubt, been caught off guard no doubt, and straight out came up with virtually any reason ( most minor and some naive ) that this project won’t go ahead or is likely in the next decade but not now. Yes there have been some disappointing events both on and off the field since 2021 but as in life things do not always run linear or smooth. Its how you handle the blocks in the road that defines you and to be frank we need to show our mettle after 3 years of under achieving. That’s why I am certain that our window is still open as stated earlier in this post. Go Dees in 2025.

You have obviously conceded the Hawks with a three peat ending in 21015 were a cut above like the Tigers. Or you have just used a decade to back up your point. I like you don’t believe our time has closed. I posted on another topic that if we have a good injury run, Trac and Clarry can be at their best plus good trading and drafting of say 2, one a high quality outside mid and the other a fast outside finishing style (mid/ flanker/ forward ) Owies doesn’t quite fit the bill ) so a draftee could be the go. At least another KPF or D is of need and Denison is a good start. Obviously our young under 22’s to improve is necessary and I believe with a serious effort Kossie Fritta Bowey Sparrow could all go up a level. Naturally a more aggressive game plan is necessary plus the mantra of winning games not just saving games to win has got to be changed. One idea after watching Sydney and their 3 stars is that Windsor and Kossie both could be wonderful centre players Both at stoppages and in games. I think the Duke is a centre player waiting to happen and a tank would not be a problem as he runs all day at high speed and his disposal is one of our best even at his age. Their ability to link up with our forwards ( and score themselves ) seems a no brainer to assist our team. 2025 could be like 2021 if we handle the season with the same attitude.

Don’t get too excited. I believe he has been regarded as a very good defensive coach.

Thanks George That’s why I asked because I am aware of the seating home games situation. While I Understand you need security to move stubborn people why aren’t the ground staff in each section onto this reserved seat rules? That’s who should be consulted first if people don’t move when asked. It’s their job to get security of needed if they reuse still. In Brisbane I am a Gabba Trust member and if anything is wrong with others in your seats ( you write your name and put the seat on this paper/ tag which you place in a slot between your seat. Very similar to MCC seating the last time I used reciprocal rights if a big game occurs. In Brisbane most security staff are located inside the boundary near the fence. Not much of them seem on Level4 in the Trust. But we are not a confrontational group like Pies or Blues fans!!!
-
Are you saying about our home game vs Pies or the KB game? Because it’s vastly different circumstances As you probably know.
-
Getting Boyd is like a new Jacko as he is younger and also has forward skills etc. Not sure I would be bypassing him for now and the future and he might be a complete bonus in our team also.
-
Yet the TV commentators all only on Sunday carry on about Cwood who have had 3 home games and an easier draw.
-
That’s the point I asked you? Do you know any thing about Wade? You ignored the question! You just goofed of with an ill informed comment with no knowledge. No he hasn’t played an AFL game yet in 2 and a half years so he a dozen matches ahead of Matty Jefferson in time. Reading the reports on his VFL games, and his roles of forward back and ruck he also has are similar to JVR who is in his third year this year and has played in junior state and now AFL/VFL in those 3 positions. He played one season of VFL Jeffo now 2, so we can get a gauge from both their progress with a little bit of goal scoring also he sounds like a good very early 20 plus at 190cm odd recruit. He is NOT bottom of the barrel ! Perhaps our mid year recruiting of Luker Kentfield is far more project orientated and could possibly apply to your remark. And he won’t come with a huge price tag perhaps an early third rounder. So let’s see he has asked for a trade to us and who is more accurate in his ability and suitability for our list and team.
-
We will find out first in 2025, then 2026.
-
Unforgettable and being there seeing it all proceed. There are enough stars with good footy ahead if our role and younger players plus 2/3 trades and 1/2 Windsor type drafts all unite to challenge in the short or long term. It was amazing replaying the GF and the MC G celebration and the social interaction with friends and families plus the odd drinks to still celebrate. Let’s do it again Dees asap!!

Here Here Ollie. The fact is supporting a footy team has no guarantees of success. But I can’t help feeling we have the craziest fans who after 4/6 years of Success with a season in between get all dissatisfied and can’t handle some downturn in performance or personnel on our list. For the very ones I am talking to most things in life are variable and much of it we can’t control. Some things like weather, your kids results at school largely variable, your kids sporting or hobby pursuits. Do you say to your son or daughter if they aren’t the best in the team sorry no dancing, footy, tennis or ten pin bowling. Generally NO. Yet adults just say no for reasons that are trifling and don’t think any thing of it. NO needs to be thought through and if finances or your work are a genuine factor then you have to consider your options. Footy ( sport) is one of my great interests in life and I would be lost without it. I still attend Theatre regularly have multiple book clubs, at least once a month attend something that arises in the other arts or sport. Also belong to three “organisations” who have monthly or regular events that I attend. It does help to be single and of course catch up with another jem in life in eating out at different styles of restaurants and cafes. Plus travel fairly often. To give up any of this would need to be health or financial problems or a very serious disagreement with a person/ member of those organisations. But the loyalty to MFC the mighty Dees is now 67 years uninterrupted membership and we have only made the Finals for 22 years and of course had the 57 year drought until our most recent 13th Premiership. FWIW Although it’s looking tougher next year to succeed I feel that 2025 might be a year ( hopefully like 2021) where we have some good fortune, no serious injuries, our champs fit and firing and our recruits and younger players develop quicker than hoped. And we are totally united and super aggressive in our football again. Most of that will be needed to be Top4 again. Here’s hoping

Why not get auto renew saves any angst.
-
I answered that your assertion that the Club does not care is not true. I am certainly not questioning your accuracy or truth about the seats etc details.
-
That still our Club btw. But you recruit for AFL not VFL really. I believe Derkson sounds ready to step up and like the style of GWS recruits. So YES from me.
-
I think you are not correct with the sweeping statement of the poor track of recruitment this decade. I realise that our 4 best have probably been May 2019 Lever 2018 then Lingers and BBB in 2021. They are not too blame nor are the Club as the Flag was ( and could still be) a result of their extra ability and professionalism plus performance. After that we started arranging our star players ( Max TracClarry Angus JV. ) and it started to get out of hand in the length and occasionally a little overs in payment. Tmac got a 4 year term free his standout year in 2018 after 53 goals in 2018. Harmes was rewarded with a deal too long and this has resulted in some role players getting deals too long and reducing our flexibility to recruit and trade. Hunter Schache Laurie are examples of that. So we need not be so generous it seems because that has come back to bite us. The long term stars deals have served us pretty well but lesser lights have possibly been overvalued and not paid their way. Also we have joined picks to move up the draft order recently which has reduced our no of selections in alleged poor drafts, and not used picks after second round using rookie lists to take a chance. This year is interesting as Yze Mentha and another lad I think are Academy or F/Son selections and surely it’s a squeeze if we don’t move say Hore or Tommo stays. The days of a No 53 like Tmac should be good in this deep draft so hope we use or picks wisely.
-
You can be the person that arranges the roster for these experts say 5 at each game 3 home 2 away over the 207 games each season. The logistics would require a full time AFL employee to be available 24/7 and on weekends also. No thanks. Let’s not get too bogged down the Coaches votes are the best really and plenty of diversity in their selections. Still have mids winning though.
-
Yes Salo and Bowser transitioned along with Riv better in 2021 than now. I still feel it’s a game plan/ style issue as McVee does run mostly and Riv a bit. Take your point as it is most important in forward connection in our team.
-
I know it’s a long shot but I wonder if our recent issues and Trac’s situation might have occurred if Gus was still at the Club. I really think Trac might like others be missing the Gus effect within the Club. If so we must overcome this and redevelop our spirit and bond to assist our footy. Let’s hope we are able to solve this over pre season and move on if this a factor of any consequence.
-
Quite frankly I watch other Club games and this bloke goes not seem to stand out or make me sit up and say “we should get him”. Maybe it’s because I would rather us concentrate on wick fast mids or a star smaller forward ( if any available in trading) rather than half back. Also never have been impressed really with the Power defence. Allir Allir stands out like a beacon.
-
If he doesn’t want to come don’t waste our time.
-
Do you really know anything about Wade ? Others that are posting seem to have some knowledge and are relatively keen. I’d back them rather than your off handed comment.
-
The Norwood Medal winner should be seriously considered as he is a good footballer. 200cm and can play up forward. Maybe one of our 3 Rd rounders might secure him?
