Hope he makes a few D/L sceptics choke on their weeties. Some do not understand the difference if a pre season especially if the player has done the work not just altered their body shape. Granted he still has to show in the next couple of trials how much improvement he has made. But if Bailey can become like Judd McVee did last season we have another prospect to improve our forward connection. I also thought the last quarter and a bit last year vs Swans was a good guide to some impressive upgrade in form. QF was not his match but you can tell from some highlight reels early with some like The Duke (Windsor) and also I remember Harry Perry’s reel and he looked a defender even then. Now he will without doubt be our forward saviour if fitness permits.

In a brainwave Goody sent Harry forward far too late in the last 10 mins. (Spoiler alert WCW) If he had the flair and dare to risk it he would’ve been successful IMO that last quarter as Harry took 2 big marks fo1.1 in that time Many Dees fans remember that snd that’s why there was pressure on Goody to try Harry in 2022 as a forward to solve our problems. Previously Harry was moved during games or may have started as a young player in 2019 before he really hit his big break in 2021 when Tommo also had his ACL injury at the ill fated Blundstone Arena. Fair dinkum I would rather we play at the Cattery than that dodgy surface that they play cricket on also. And while I am talking Goody ( WCW) please don’t assume I hate our Coach. Simon is a good coach but who is most importantly loved by our players ( and naturally many of our fans) especially as he will like our 23 players always be regarded as one of the heroes and as the Hun topped its lift out GF review “immortals”. His place in our history is at the moment as our third best ever coach I believe. Neale Daniher was universally very highly regarded and respected but didn’t get the flag in 2000 unfortunately. However Goody has time and could easily get another flag or two perhaps if he coaches till say 2028. Now it’s been said by many Dees and other scribes and footy and sports “experts “ that Simon is stubborn and is not a great match day Coach. In other words he is perhaps too slow and inflexible to make changes to the team during games to assist in changing the balance or trend where necessary. I agree with both those assessments over Goody’s 7 years as our Senior Coach. One other cross that has been mentioned is that we have often started slowly in games two of which no doubt hurt us in performance in VIP games bring Round 23 vs Pies at the G when they jumped us and we missed the Top8 by 0.5% or something and of course last QF the first 10 mins including the monster Maynard’s thuggery also we looked and were lethargic when we needed to be up and running. You may say Simon can’t kick the ball for us but it’s happened too many times in his coaching I believe to add to his match day performance assessment. Some will disagree with some of this but a 7 mark as a coach is still very good in the AFL. I believe if he can get us another flag he is an8 and say two more a 9 or 9.5 depending upon circumstances etc. But to say I dislike Simon is completely out of range and not true, we are all judges here at D/L and that’s what makes this forum so successful and loved and mostly respected by its participants. Yes it seems sometimes harsh but we all are very emotional and passionate supporters. We invest ( not as much time and passion as you do and thank you for all you do. You are incorrect. He lives at a SA country town about 500 kms from Adelaide where his parents own a farm. AFC Crows yelled out his name and tried to get him after we sought McAdam. We held Harry up hopefully for next year as well. Time will tell.

Touch wood and I don’t really believe that Clarry has a hammy issue any more. That has not been the case since July/ August 2023. He is doing everything right so far in his desire and effort to make a success of 2024, You can see it the way he looks so determined. I wish him all the success he deserves.

I think some will agree others won’t on your half glass empty prediction. SPort by nature is not necessarily linear and because in ‘23 we lost close Finals games does not mean the same result in 2024. In 2022 Cwood lost 2 Gindls like us by points only and look at 2024. Take a look at the 2021 last quarter and bit vs Cats courtesy 6six6 and the will to win in that game. Do you know what I don’t think it’s any more or less than our last quarter vs Pies I. The QF. We had the shots and ball in the last quarter to win but just didn’t haven’t magic finishing touch. Put 2/3 class finishing players and that result would be overturned. Players maybe like Billing’s or McAdam maybe Bowser up forward. That’s why we are in the flag race up to our bootstraps and with some dare and tweaking it’s entirely possible. Attitude and class are there but it doesn’t always surface. What I do know is if Gawn Viney Trac Clarry Maysie and Lever all stray their best they bring the others along. We have enough ability and will to be a top team and 2024 is a perfect opportunity to show it.

Just having watched the last quarter and bit ( from 44 pts down ) and gaining our Minor Premiership in 2021 I could just see the Duke running on all pistons and being involved in a comeback like that, He has the skill momentum and attitude to be a major player in his career. His bold football and possessions will be impactful. Whether we see a lot of it in 2024 I don’t know but I look forward to hostile in our next few years on the wing, And his partner in crime Kolt will be a 15 possession game changer who will do in do the tough acts and play keeping the scoreboard ticking over. Again every touch worth its weight in gold. Again how much this season don’t know but looking forward to whatever he does as it will be vital and impactful. And I know it’s even a longer straw but I very much have the feeling that Kynan Brown will also be a major player in our future. Why? Because the kid bleeds footy and the red and blue and he’s already exceeding our expectations. His will is like Clarry’s indomitable and you need players like this in a champion team. Dont underestimate what these 3 draftees will bring whether in ‘24 but if not ‘25 and after. We need a lift from some newbies and others are also in with that opportunity to put the dare back in our play like in 2021. Do that and the will like vs Cats in 2021 and again vs Lions in 23 can make us great again when th going gets tough.

I know you have agreed as you thought perhaps Brody should have played but the whole decision on selection etc and who players an d who didn’t or was allowed or not on the ground has been my point all along. Some terrible team and coach selections and decisions which ever way you look at it. And please Macca don’t come up with reasons that’s and so couldn’t go off or come on because …. Match day rules are meant to be flexible or workable and are what you make of them. It was ours to do something with and we didn’t just sat on the pine or in the box and let Rome burn while Nero fiddled.

Kent Thsts a crazy comment, Trac had 29.34 last year with say 7 OOB. Sharpen up and say 40.30. It’s still a lot to ask unles he spends time up forward as a forward. But he is a likely goal kicker at any time.

Yes I would give Clarry a go up forward so he doesn’t have to run all day and of course Trac as well if needed. He finds goals when forward of the centre like kids find Easter eggs on a hunt. I hope McAdam can get into the team with his fitness. Billing’s prob a sure cert now In final 23.
