  1. https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1819043/injury-report-spargo-to-test Marty Hore is gone for the season with a shoulder injury, love the fella, very unlucky but Jeeeez that has not gone to plan “He hurt his shoulder at the start of the game. He was able to continue playing, but it kept getting sorer, which is why he didn’t finish. Follow-up scans have shown he’s ruptured his biceps tendon in the shoulder, and after consulting with a surgeon, it’s been recommended that we get it repaired. “Unfortunately for Marty, we’re unlikely to see him again this season,” Griffith confirmed.
  2. Was reading about umpire contact just before; It comes after a large increase in the number of incidents and charges for umpire contact in the past three years. In 2023, there were 20 charges for umpire contact across the season. Last year that increased to 56 charges, while there have been 60 charges already this season. Changed rules can now see repeat offenders heading to the tribunal.
  3. Look there are definitely some things we need to fix at the club, but also at the end of the day in terms of Trade Targets and Free Agency - we're not a destination club and I'm not sure if we ever will be in my lifetime. There are just some clubs in the league that don't have the drawing power of some of the larger clubs. We end up having to pay overs for certain players or hope none of the big boys are circling. I know this is a little defeatist but i think it's realistic.
  4. Disco all good? Hobbled around a bit late last game
  5. afl.com.auMATCH REVIEW: Fiorini and May in the clear, 22 charges laidThe match review findings from Saturday's round 16 games are in5 players for us got fined (May, Salem, Viney, Oliver, Melksham) engaging in a melee/wrestle 6 Suns got a fine for engaging in a melee/wrestle (Noble, Walter, Anderson, Humphrey, Collings, Clohesy) In addition to Ben King getting a fine for Instigator of a Melee/Wrestle. Personally, reckon the fine for instigating a melee should be higher than engaging in a melee
  6. I'd assume it would be easier being placed in a functioning backline in a team that was playing very well than what we are doing now though. The trade up for Kolt was a gamble, but too soon for this type of thread.
  7. Fox SportsAFL’s newest and most important stat: Speed of Ball expla...Truth in Pies shock as AFL’s fastest... and slowest teams revealed: Every club ranked 1-18 I'm not quite sure what to make of this.
  8. your Icon/Avatar is somewhat at odds with your message here.
  9. Any chance of Will Verrall? GC are quite tall after all
  10. Surely DAZN with his Saudi backing could have tipped in $180m for 3 years.
  11. Nine Entertainment, which owns the streaming platform, is expected to pay about $60 million annually for the next three years to broadcast the league, two people briefed on the arrangement said. Optus will continue to pay $40 million every year over that time, despite giving up the rights. With the minimum price to access Stan Sport at $27, it would take at least 185,000 new subscribers to cover the cost of the Premier League. People familiar with Optus’ financial position said the streaming service was losing tens of millions of dollars under the current EPL deal. https://www.afr.com/companies/sport/optus-to-subsidise-premier-league-in-multi-million-tie-up-with-stan-20250624-p5m9z3
  12. Lad hasnt had a full AFL pre-season yet, would be premature to cut him, no issue retaining him for another year to see how he goes.
  13. "Stan has reported 2.3m subscribers, but only a fraction of those also pay for sport." They're getting PL for about $100M a season, At it peaks Optus had 1,000,000 subscribers. They will want to hike the price but imagine they'd do that after year 1 of the PL deal to get people through first. Or as you've said standalone service
  14. What are your (early) match ups at the pointy end of the fields?
  15. I ran the Squiggle AFL Predictor and it has us finishing 12th (9 wins, 14 losses) Wins against - North, Saints, West Coast and Hawthorn Losses against - GC, Adelaide, Carlton, Dogs and Pies Has 2 teams making the finals on 13 wins as well.
  16. The fine for striking is over the top given it happens 272 times a game. Fine them all or none.
  17. To be fair this is what goody did bring up daicos focus after kings bday "It was certainly pretty clear post halftime, early especially, that they (the umpires) were watching some of the holding in and around the ball," Goodwin said. "I’m not sure what transpired at halftime, but obviously the free kicks were pretty evident early in the third quarter." He was also asked if he thought the umpires brought up the issue at halftime to look for the holds around the ball. Goodwin said he wasn’t too sure but hopes they weren’t looking at just one player. “I don’t know what transpires in those breaks with the umpires and what they discuss, but hopefully they do it for every player," he said.
  18. I have updated my profile photo to warm your heart on here.
  19. The Bye week has turned my attention to other important MFC matters, mainly the gameday MFC Mascots (and history of them etc). Maybe the Demon Army can help me out here. I haven't really paid full attention to the mascots on game day as i am not a kid/nor do i have one. Is this current lot as follows Checker - standard Chuck - younger mascot Cheeky - Even younger mascot? Daisy - Is she still as active now that Daisy is elsewhere? There's also Flash - How active is he? Clarry ? - There was a Mascot Academy gimmick in 2020 which was basically a zurich advert and there was a Clarry mascot. Has he been seen since? This seems like a lot, we could almost field a AFL-X team with them. Will Before then we had Ronald Deeman (the red demon with a huge chin)- has he made a nostalgic appearance anywhere since he was removed? He stopped in 2011, when is that considered retro? I do feel Ronald Deeman has the slight advantage on the newer ones as he's red and less human. But understandably he may scare kids more than the current lot. Can't send him to children's hospital for example. did we have anything before Ronald Deeman in terms of on-field mascots?
  20. Also Picketfence wants us to move on cos he doesnt want another tall forward to compete with Jeffo!
  21. Its all gone borked. Like Obvs i am biased cos of Kalani but even David Rodan has a kid who is eligible for F/S with Port but is also part of Essendon's NGA. They need to re-jig the system. You've got NGA players who's parents played AFL football. Then you got cases like Kalani and Luke Hodge's kid who are part of Northern Academies despite being F/S eligible. If Cooper Hodge choses Brisbane i'll feel sorry for the Hawks, and that's a sentence I don't type very often.
  22. It's still utterly bizarre to have us not playing a game in Melbourne for a month and then not leaving the state for the last 7 games.
  23. roy11 replied to Redleg's topic in Melbourne Demons
Dermie was just as bad at half time on the weekend, suggesting Kossie could get a fine for staging when he got that clip to the head. They replayed the incident and he repeated there was no contact and he milked it. Other panel tried to tell him there was bicep/shoulder contact to chin but he wasnt having it.
