in 2020 we rolled with a flat Captain/VC set up with no additional support which is quite a ballsy move and is only replicated by Richmond (a side with 22 leaders as they'll tell u) and port. with the whispers around goody and yze/chocco going forward and into '22 i think this year we will see a return to a structured leadership group set up with 2/3 moving into those positions. Also on the Gus and Gawny poddy this week brayshaw appeared to let slip that lingerz (langdon) was a member of this leadership group. is that the impression everyone else got too? and who else do we see making that step up. for mine its Capt: Gawn VC: Viney L'ship Group: May, Langdon, Melky and my other smokey which i would see as a bad idea at this stage but not opposed to going forward is Trac/Lever. i think both need another season of footy based focussed before they move in

why would we delist neitschke and re-rookie again? he can just remain as a rookie for another 2 years now that he's on that list. also that means ur confident in jsmith and mbrown getting new deals im intrigued please tell us more xx
-
he's got the number 46 on his back but thats probably just because the club has jumpers with numbers for training and it fits him, not much to read into, as i recall saad training in 16 at carlton and now he's actually 42 but thats not to say he wont make the list. i think he will

doesnt push ahead of Oliver/Viney/Brayshaw/Harmes/Trac in our starting side and you'd think sparrow/jordon will get opportunities ahead of him too and jones to get to 300. doesn't really do enough anywhere else on the ground to justify selection when we are already heavy on bullocking tacklers who can't kick
-
retired Nathan Jones Nev Jetta delisted Kade Chandler (A) Toby Bedford Alex Neal-Bullen Aaron vandenBerg Aaron Nietschke (A) Mitch Brown (A) Joel Smith Oskar Baker keeping in mind list sizes shrink again this year too
-
instagram, he can just go dm anyone doesn't even have to follow them
-
my mates sister copped them, these aren't allegations theyre facts

we have two spots free atm anyway so we can still take a spot. and chances are his entire salary will be paid outside the cap as an A rookie and with match bonuses and you'd say given where we r at in the off-season and as a club he isn't likely to hit too many of those next year. and if you have injuries you'd be able to replace them regardless of how full your list is in pre-season
-
i feel like theres no reason not to fill out your list, if hes 44th man then who cares its one season, roll the dice and if after 12 months it hasn't worked out its no loss but nothing ventured nothing gained

The five players you want to have an impact in 2021
Turner replied to Krackered's topic in Melbourne Demons
Petty Hore (both best 22 if fit i believe) Melksham (step up or step out) Bedford (deserves a consistent run) Jordon (hype but is it mislead) -
so if smith is being touted for the other spot... why is he not training on? makes zero sense
-
? ? ? ? would u like some chips with that salt?
-
i mean look at what port did with duursma/butters/rozzee transformed their side and yeh theyve had their moments and been dropped on occasion but if a player has the skills why would u hold them back yawn...?
-
McDonald-Tippungwuti would have to be dropped or retire citing lack of space for name on guernsey as the reason
-
his dad wasn't great when we drafted him tho was he, development takes time and with ooze and chocco onboard we might see some of that actually happen next year

i believe the club pages are all run at least in partner by afl.com.au and as such they seem to be updating all the player movement stuff etc at once, also i guess theyre waiting for official pjotos of all the players that look official and same

Pecking Order and Future Planning for Mids, Wingman and Rucks.
Turner replied to WERRIDEE's topic in Melbourne Demons
we have our set starters in the midfield Viney, Oliver, Petracca, Brayshaw, Harmes without question when utilised properly will flourish. Jones will play till he hits 300 then its sparrow till seasons end. Harmes and Trac spend time forward Harmes in particular plays that 5th role we had melky in this season. on the wing Langdon no questions here. Baker gets first crack at it but he needs to do more. i'm worried he wont break in till the last month like the last two years so give him a go early and if it isn't work him shelve him as he's had plenty of time and opportunities and theres others gunning. I don't want to see Hunt, certainly none of vandenberg but i would give JJ a shot for sure and if salo/riv wants to push up then be my guest. i don't wanna hear this mcdonald crap either he's been useless soft and ball shy for 2 years, don't need to be slim to be aggressive at the footy and body line it Gawn is our ruckman, if he goes down Jacko is partnered by Weid and we play another small with fritsch as a 3rd option forward or mbrown gets a chance before tom plz. Bradtke is almost ready for a game and hopefully he does some good work at casey i think he could be a success long term, he'll get a senior list spot next year after his 3 B years for sure. -
Pecking Order and Future Planning for Tall Forwards and Small forwards
Turner replied to WERRIDEE's topic in Melbourne Demons
talls you've got just about spot on Brown, Weid, Jacko will play together and if one misses i doubt it'll be a like for like tall replacement probably a mid-sized option given fritsch can play the 3rd role. TMac will again get the early chance as next in should 2 miss ahead of brown but i suspect by end of season brown will again go past him and both will move off the list to make room for another developer. in the smalls department Pickett, Fritsch will play 22 games, Melk will get first crack but shouldn't see out the season whatsoever if he dishes up more of 2020s form. Laurie is my shout for the other round 1 spot edging out all other comers. Spargo will also get a healthy run in the side hopefully from round 1 as i like what he offers when he's tackling and pressing. and i hope bedford gets chances before they revert to the tried and failed ANB, AVB, hunt and out-of-form melky Round 1 will look like Fritsch-Weid-Melk Pickett-Brown-Jackson Spargo Laurie but i'd like to see Bedford/Harmes in the side before Melksham- 1 reply

Pecking order and planning for future tall and small defender.
Turner replied to Little Goffy's topic in Melbourne Demons
for mine talls will start the year as May, Lever, Tomlinson in the side and Hore, Petty, Smith TMac in the magoos. but by the bye i think we will see Petty go past tomlinson or push him back to a wing and see Hore playing regularly too. for smalls Rivers, Salem, Hibberd, Lockhart (7th) to start in with Nietschke, Chandler, Bowey and Nev in the 2s but same deal, by mid season Hore in for lockhart or hibbo potentially helping shift salo or riv up the ground. Bowey will play games, nev will probably get between 5-10 games but shouldn't be too many more and nieta probably gets a debut but i'm not sure how much more of him we'll see. So ideally i'd like to run a Lever-May-Hibbo Salem-Petty-Rivers Hore -
should be jones > goody respect the legacy and give it one last go alternatively whack ooze up there coz why tf not
-
harmes, tmac, chandler groups? if u saw
-
hore > smith forever and ever if thats our r1 side by end of season i'd hope Laurie/Petty/Sparrow usurp Melk/Tomlinson/Hunt in the side comfortably and u could even make a case for Spargo/Bowey over baker then too obviously we signed 3 forwards at the draft 1 in trade period and 1 TBC in deakyn smith so it makes sense next year we upgrade the backline with riv/salo pushing up, hibbo/nev getting on and jury still out on mature agers hore/smith/lockhart and it would be nice to have a tall developing behind may for 3/4 years time too. especially seeing as our mids are set for another 5/6 years

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DEAKYN SMITH
Turner replied to BAMF's topic in Melbourne Demons
clubs dont often offer train on spots without following through especially with 2 spots open and u can basically pay the players entire wage outside the cap and u may as well fill out the list if u can cant hurt really as a development player on a 1yr deal. makes me laugh when people on here have an issue with mbrown getting a year when he's 30 as depth coz they wanna see an unproven youngster with upside get a chance and then we hear about a youngster getting a chance and its godforbid we give him a go. -
no draft, just get offered a contract so any club could come forward but you'd think a player would repay the faith in the club who invited them on/ the club would invite them to train on if they were actually interested
