  1. the role that springs to mind is similar to the role jamie bennell holds at WC in a relations/player welfare role focussing on strengthening ties with aboriginal communities and players. i know we have whelan at the helm at the moment and tough calls will have to be made with covid budgets but here's hoping we can fit them both in + im sure jonesy wants to stick around too
  2. i mean if you saw what north did last year i think it was an 8 man group, they sold false hope to the VC and traded him, delisted two members - one of which had only been there 2 seasons - why was it so big and did everone who was in there deserve to be in there, i guess the answer was no. and Zerrett i rkn is still feeling let down after the 2020 season cut and probably disembarks a sinking ship at end of 21? does make u wonder what the hell gussy was on about in the poddy tho about langdon? anyones guess now really...
  3. players regularly will sub out at HT/3QT in praccy matches, i'd imagine Brown would probably come out at some point maybe same as jackson to not over work them early on. Similarly hibbo and jones would feature sporadically allowing nietschke/bowey/laurie the likes a feel for it for a quarter here or there can also see viney/gawn sitting out say a final quarter to allow jacko to ruck and sparrow/jordon to feature inside
  4. Kelly offers so much more as an outside player than Merrett imo
  5. we have 3 spots on the list and all are unrelated to KK, we left two open for train on players and i think the club was eager to carry one over to the MSD due to the Covid affected victorian footy a lot of kids will have slipped through and now Hore's ACL has opened up a third spot potentially giving us the chance to sign Farmer and Deakyn Smith and still have that mid year pick
  6. any idea which line nietschke is training with? hearing wing option? or HB?
  7. brayshaw has said on poddy he's on track and hibbo surely is considering idek what he's missing with (possibly just load management?)
  8. we now have three spots available with Deakyn Smith and Farmer training on and the newly opened up Hore spot, chances r we save at least one for a KyleDunkley-esque who's the best 19yo we missed in the draft pool for the Mid season draft
  9. SSP is different, yes freo can offer him a deal and he could sign it but they likely would have invited him to train if they had any firm interest
  10. maybe when we get to round 6 and tmac hasnt broken into the side yet they'll swing him back there?
  11. where was melky playing? seeing reports on where everyone else has moved to and currently dont see where he's fitting in. also anyone got a clue if he was blue or white?
  12. brayshaw said on poddy that he should be good to go for AAMI series/round 1 no issues also hibbo? surelyyyy gets in ahead of Smith imo
  13. Marty Hore ACL confirmed ???? can't get any luck this man, hopefully they give him a gig at seasons end and give him a chance to get himself right coz i really like what he offers https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/852887/hore-suffers-acl-injury my thought process and its an unpopular one which i dont think i like but the club might consider, Cal Moore is probably the front runner for Carltons 1 SSP spot due to Curnow's injuries right, so does OMac get a last resort chance as a relatively like-for-like mature defensive option who knows the club in the knowledge that he's purely a depth player and is unlikely to be called upon? Other recently delisted similar options could be: Sam Skinner -swingman (delisted by BL training at NM) Hugh Goddard/Harry Macreadie (blues) Majak? Jono Marsh (StK) Lewis Jetta Suckling
  14. this was confirmed in the afl.com.au report hopefully lookalike is the only thing they have in common and maybe speed? not ideal for baker as a 4th year player with basically a straight shot at the wing possie in the snr's to be in the 'B' side. i hope it doesn't take him 15 weeks to crack a game this year but i get the feeling he's gonna be a close but not quite type with Hunt's move to HB to free up Salo/Riv to move up the ground combined with the jacko/tmac wing possibility too
  15. geez apologies i just remember seeing it in the background of a flick i scrolled past on some socials didn't exactly stop for a forensic analysis
  16. gawny regularly stands up late in games and takes huge "come with me if you want to win" marks and is regularly seen working his [censored] off to get deep in defence and play a role for the team and work hard to cover the ground lay tackles etc. + he is relatable and personable and obviously gets along and is approachable to all the squad. also time and time again we have seen him look stern and confront the group before gathering with the coach when we're playing [censored]. and realistically thats all traits of good leadership and captain material imo
  17. only one more year at best SONS! if the goody rumour mill is to be believed
  18. if you exclude may who is obviously a strong leader and got past his injuries to play some seriously good footy in 20 then you need to have a next in behind him and from my POV i can't see who that is. lever's form whilst it improved was still patchy and not near what we gave up for him.
  19. in 2020 we rolled with a flat Captain/VC set up with no additional support which is quite a ballsy move and is only replicated by Richmond (a side with 22 leaders as they'll tell u) and port. with the whispers around goody and yze/chocco going forward and into '22 i think this year we will see a return to a structured leadership group set up with 2/3 moving into those positions. Also on the Gus and Gawny poddy this week brayshaw appeared to let slip that lingerz (langdon) was a member of this leadership group. is that the impression everyone else got too? and who else do we see making that step up. for mine its Capt: Gawn VC: Viney L'ship Group: May, Langdon, Melky and my other smokey which i would see as a bad idea at this stage but not opposed to going forward is Trac/Lever. i think both need another season of footy based focussed before they move in
  20. why would we delist neitschke and re-rookie again? he can just remain as a rookie for another 2 years now that he's on that list. also that means ur confident in jsmith and mbrown getting new deals im intrigued please tell us more xx
  21. he's got the number 46 on his back but thats probably just because the club has jumpers with numbers for training and it fits him, not much to read into, as i recall saad training in 16 at carlton and now he's actually 42 but thats not to say he wont make the list. i think he will
  22. doesnt push ahead of Oliver/Viney/Brayshaw/Harmes/Trac in our starting side and you'd think sparrow/jordon will get opportunities ahead of him too and jones to get to 300. doesn't really do enough anywhere else on the ground to justify selection when we are already heavy on bullocking tacklers who can't kick
  23. retired Nathan Jones Nev Jetta delisted Kade Chandler (A) Toby Bedford Alex Neal-Bullen Aaron vandenBerg Aaron Nietschke (A) Mitch Brown (A) Joel Smith Oskar Baker keeping in mind list sizes shrink again this year too
