  1. Latin? but nonetheless :) Personally Viney is clearly fabric of the club - and flawed. But seemingly less flawed thus far this year If Jack wanted to leave, then that's his choice, if the FD pushed it because of a need to either get him out, or get out his flaws to capitalise on someone where the attributes would be more useful, than that is fine too. But jeez, you know what you are going to get and not get with Jack... 'it does what it says on the tin'
  2. Pardon my naivety, what is Williams's methodology on kicking that stands out from other coaches, or what other clubs do?
  3. Nice work Col, no room for ‘choc brownie points’? Anyway that was a reach... keep up the word smithing
  4. Unless there is some metrics that are alluding to Rivers being tired...I would rather him than Hibberd (not that I dislike Hibberd,). Also I would go the future for the replacement for May, and that'd comfortably be Petty. I'm quite excited as to what Petty brings...
  5. In the last, when Melksham missed a soda in front of goal, I really thought if he kicked that, the flood gates would have opened and we could have piled on a few more goals... was a shame, as it's great to get reward for effort. In Germany they have a term in soccer, where junk time goals come from either team... it's called 'scoreboard cosmetics'...it'll come though...even if we lose matches (and we will) throughout the season.
  6. So this thread is a work in progress, is it meaningful data? I'm not so sure... as one could argue the scoring shots are an output of everything else. Anyway, I'll keep pumping it out weekly Is anyone still using the AFLpro link on the website? @binman? Does that have a heat map of scores? I thought I'd start a thread looking at the amount we are scoring the differential anyone else's input into patterns, methodology, tactics, location
  7. Ahh for the quantum mechanists out there. Schrödinger's cat is both (neither) dead or alive These bowls are both (neither) broken or unbroken On Demonland, Charlie Spargo is both (neither) amazing or awful ...but really, he is quite bloody good...
  8. Doesn't he @Mazer Rackham...what I love is there is no tentativeness... in ruck contests he is certainly happy to tap the ball, even to himself and then go and get the ball... didn't quite come off today a few times... but the composure will come. Whilst I'm always dubious on Hunt's disposal (except for goal kicking)... he did bloody well today, and I hope that gives him genuine belief through experience that he can run [censored] quickly and execute accurate kicks...because today, well, he could.
  9. Thanks for sourcing that @Hellish Inferno. I think this is a very astute comment from the Geelong fan. We can now physically match it. I live down Geelong way, and I distinctly remember Brisbane coming to Kardinia Park with Voss, Akermanis, Black et al, physically smashing Ablett, Johnson, Chapman etc... those boys were 18-22 at the time in 2002-03 (so was I)... and then a few years later, the physicality of Ablett, Johnson, Chapman (their midfield) was on display through maturity of age. This is where we as a team are now...no doubt about it.
  10. I was interested in Messr's Pickett rebuke to Selwood in the fourth. Anyways, as Petracca kicked a goal at half time - here was Joel, loading up to give him a gobful unrequested. Kysaiah doesn't look to be the mouthy type Oliver however...?
  11. the age quote. "Bayley Fritsch finally took full toll in front of goal, slotting four majors. The smooth-moving forward is on the cusp of stardom."
  12. That's one of the most sane things you have said on here :) I concur fully... Actually on the subject of Bailey - as stick figure as he is, he does put his body on the line...his fourth goal in particular.
  13. compass fixed? or game by game proposition?
  14. it's bucketing here on the bellarine... can only imagine what the frigid waters off marengo look like. Enjoy :)
  15. Sausages by most reports...
  16. Would he be just as heartless in the red and blue??
  17. Mmmm 8% beer. The pedant in me comes out... why in that graphic, does it cap out at 150+ assuming you play 15-20 games a year - its an 8-10 year overview... so you're 26-28 years of age... do the next 50 (150-200games) not gain your further experience, knowledge, insight?
  18. AFL being punitive to Collingwood - re Beams/Edward TPP...
  19. Ya, I know... I was commenting on how quick the passage of time goes... him playing feels like yesterday (just like Guy Rigoni) I'm early 40's - Corey deserved a brownlow.
  20. Corey McKernan - didn't he finish his career only 4 years ago Alan? My god, where does time go.
  21. Re: the saints Well that's an awkward reminder.... Anyways...just goes to justify my thoughts, that in actuality, you're never as bad or as good as you think you are.
  22. @Rusty Nails, dont you get it mate ? - ambiguity is great for the game. It's great for debate, it frustrates people endlessly. Silence = apathy = death.
  23. Probably preseason injuries... Not a crack at you @Bring-Back-Powell, and jeeze I hate 'bathwater' as a catch-all phrase for, getting a head of yourself. No team... ever drinks their own bathwater... you don't think all coaches drill in to the players that they haven't achieved anything until they've won a premiership... (or the players don't understand this through all their coaching and know it innately?) Their gameplan has been torn to shreds... and they're quite a limited team...as evidenced by losing to us last year...
  24. Sorry for your loss.
  25. Do you consciously stop at the keyboard and write the word Essen(drug), or J(eelong), or is it automatic for you these days?? Sorry for thread derail...genuinely curious.
