  1. Are we the ‘stingiest’ team (tm)? How good a word is ‘stingy’, it always reads as stingy even though you mean stingy.
  2. Ah mate, I keep getting typos and people keep correcting me - I wonder if I’m even cut out for data entry ??‍♂️
  3. Thank goodness for the fourth...
  4. It makes you wonder what the metrics are that certain players are measured in. as well as how many games before someone can find form (or be carried)... based on past evidence of that player being able to perform. Personally I get annoyed at the reductionist terminology around 'he must have photos' or 'Goodwin's [insert any coach] best mate' There are clear standards that must be met for sure - I reckon Demonlanders could pull together and get a rough consensus on the worthy stats for each part of the ground. *perhaps we could get 23 folk each week to follow one player and look at all the 1%'s that they do (all the other metrics are readily available).
  5. What's the difference between arrogance and backing yourself @RigidMiddleDigit?
  6. I’d say we’re fair dinkum, with an undercurrent of crumbling ??‍♂️
  7. I agree that, that is nice when it happens, but there is a myriad of reasons/factors the a team (or individuals within a team) put on a display last night - it's not just about Richmond's performing and St Kilda being ground into submission. Something else is clearly going on when St Kilda can come back from 5/6 goals down vs WCE to then loosing by 15 goals the following week... Richmond on paper are not a 20 goal better team than WCE.
  8. How bout them Apples ? don’t mind a bit of Elliott smith :) aptly has been a haunting musician to my love affair with the Dees.
  9. Seriously for the love of god.... or whomever is your deity. So this is how it played out 1) Goodwin comes on board as coach 2) Goodwin is enthusiastic in 2018 - but rules with an iron fist, and no one elses opinion is valid 3) Goodwin has his own coaching staff and continues to be not open to other coaching staff's opinions 4) FD move on most of coaching staff from Goodwins initial tenure - and he fails to listen (2019) 5) Goodwin fails to be willing to listen in 2020 hub/covid etc 6) Williams and Yze are recruited - and Goodwin through gritted teeth (or fear of losing job) is only now willing to listen. Coincidence is not causation...
  10. It's a valid point @Bring-Back-Powell - essentially, which games can you/should you choose to drop. Richmond feels apt perhaps the Bulldogs - though I think we can match them not Port definitely not Sydney... Actually, 4-0 - we can beat anyone - including delusional dreams of smashing WC in Perth...remember the time that TMAC?.... :)
  11. Engorged Onion replied to a post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
My old man hated the royal blue - guilt by association. I think as @Colin B. Flaubert spoke about -it's been the guernsey/jersey/alderney of choice in some recent 'meaningful wins'. I think it looks less flattering on my dad bod, but it is disco-esque as @Chookmentioned. Superstitions are dead and buried right?
  12. Latin? but nonetheless :) Personally Viney is clearly fabric of the club - and flawed. But seemingly less flawed thus far this year If Jack wanted to leave, then that's his choice, if the FD pushed it because of a need to either get him out, or get out his flaws to capitalise on someone where the attributes would be more useful, than that is fine too. But jeez, you know what you are going to get and not get with Jack... 'it does what it says on the tin'
  13. Pardon my naivety, what is Williams's methodology on kicking that stands out from other coaches, or what other clubs do?
  14. Nice work Col, no room for ‘choc brownie points’? Anyway that was a reach... keep up the word smithing
  15. Unless there is some metrics that are alluding to Rivers being tired...I would rather him than Hibberd (not that I dislike Hibberd,). Also I would go the future for the replacement for May, and that'd comfortably be Petty. I'm quite excited as to what Petty brings...
  16. In the last, when Melksham missed a soda in front of goal, I really thought if he kicked that, the flood gates would have opened and we could have piled on a few more goals... was a shame, as it's great to get reward for effort. In Germany they have a term in soccer, where junk time goals come from either team... it's called 'scoreboard cosmetics'...it'll come though...even if we lose matches (and we will) throughout the season.
  17. So this thread is a work in progress, is it meaningful data? I'm not so sure... as one could argue the scoring shots are an output of everything else. Anyway, I'll keep pumping it out weekly Is anyone still using the AFLpro link on the website? @binman? Does that have a heat map of scores? I thought I'd start a thread looking at the amount we are scoring the differential anyone else's input into patterns, methodology, tactics, location
  18. Ahh for the quantum mechanists out there. Schrödinger's cat is both (neither) dead or alive These bowls are both (neither) broken or unbroken On Demonland, Charlie Spargo is both (neither) amazing or awful ...but really, he is quite bloody good...
  19. Doesn't he @Mazer Rackham...what I love is there is no tentativeness... in ruck contests he is certainly happy to tap the ball, even to himself and then go and get the ball... didn't quite come off today a few times... but the composure will come. Whilst I'm always dubious on Hunt's disposal (except for goal kicking)... he did bloody well today, and I hope that gives him genuine belief through experience that he can run [censored] quickly and execute accurate kicks...because today, well, he could.
  20. Thanks for sourcing that @Hellish Inferno. I think this is a very astute comment from the Geelong fan. We can now physically match it. I live down Geelong way, and I distinctly remember Brisbane coming to Kardinia Park with Voss, Akermanis, Black et al, physically smashing Ablett, Johnson, Chapman etc... those boys were 18-22 at the time in 2002-03 (so was I)... and then a few years later, the physicality of Ablett, Johnson, Chapman (their midfield) was on display through maturity of age. This is where we as a team are now...no doubt about it.
  21. I was interested in Messr's Pickett rebuke to Selwood in the fourth. Anyways, as Petracca kicked a goal at half time - here was Joel, loading up to give him a gobful unrequested. Kysaiah doesn't look to be the mouthy type Oliver however...?
  22. the age quote. "Bayley Fritsch finally took full toll in front of goal, slotting four majors. The smooth-moving forward is on the cusp of stardom."
  23. That's one of the most sane things you have said on here :) I concur fully... Actually on the subject of Bailey - as stick figure as he is, he does put his body on the line...his fourth goal in particular.
  24. compass fixed? or game by game proposition?
