I need some acknowledgement - I'm sure roughly 150 pages ago in a somewhat drunken stupor, I said we'd hit 500 on this thread... ps: some entertaining questions re: Hogan tonight sorted for PJ @Demonland???

Delisting, Trade and FA discussion 2018
Engorged Onion replied to DemonLad5's topic in Melbourne Demons
not suprised you were the narrator of this thread Remember that it's about the bigger picture and filling deficits...and if a player doesnt really want to be there, with where his contract is...you can insist as much as you want , but the hand, is the hand. -
Thanks Jesse you got us to finals, you gave us hope, and you can move on to a cruisier life in Freo potentially. A whisper was this was player led re: professionalism and standards...so as some people say he didn't buy into Melbourne FC, maybe not quite the case, just who Melbourne FC now want to be. All the best JH for whatever comes next.

1. That doesn't need to be public consumption - we don't deserve to know why, it's irrelevant. 2.The genuine attempt to keep someone begins from day one of entry into the club... and if someone STILL doesn't want to be there, then it's not because of the genuine attempts...

Fun game this one... are you linking KK to the May trade? or do you see it separately? -
That @Whispering_Jack's gag mate

Bit rough on Mr and Mrs Lever there . As a Dr, @Dr. Gonzo you lean to the nature side rather than the nurture eh ? ?

Not really, @Petraccattack- The opposite of love isn't hate, it's apathy. And you and everyone who is raging against the length of the trade period, will not give up your love for the game... you'll just pi$$ and moan about it.

We’re all hostage in the AFL version of the Truman show. All the players, agents journo’s, ceo’s, heads of recruitment etc, are the actors. They’ve received their scripts post Rd 23, and you and I are Jim Carrey, thinking this is real...and then the realisation of the reality starts to dawn. The outrage... The drama... The betrayal... It is just entertainment after all...

Nothing surer than 6.15pm on Wednesday under the bright lights ‘Hogan to Fremantle on 6 year, $6,000,000 deal.’
-
why would they get involved @Lucifer's Hero... noise about the slowness of tradeweek is still good noise for the afl.
-
think i might need to rewatch the geelong elimination final x3 to get through tomorrows snooozefest.

Mmm, if the rumours are true that May had a look at WB...which is his right of course, doesn't really feel as though his heart is with what Melbourne can offer, aside from his back pocket.
-
I'd imagine Neale would be slight $hitty as it's one less top ender in the midfield group...
-
I didn't read it as - 'there was an issue with the character of of Hogan', I read it as another convoluted corporate speak way of saying, we are not prepared to meet Melbourne at their steadfast request of high end picks.
-
No doubt the biggest take away, is the AFL sanctioned clichè of "it was a learning experience".
-
This feels like massive unders... Only May and KK for Hogan?
-
That smokescreen offer was clearly made from Freo with an understanding that it would be rejected so Geelong can play hardball with WCE for the compassion story that is being put forward. For mine, it’s really underhanded, as they’re getting invovled in the mechanics of trades that they’re not a part of, and of course it’s a small small industry

450 by Monday morning and 697 by trade deadline I personally like a scotch finger with an espresso or an earl grey

Say hi to the Qcliff Brewhouse and upstairs for me @dworship

Mmm...well he's not mad on that pack marking thingy....
-
Can we get Fyfe please...if only we had a young WA product to trade...

He may be aloof, he may not be what an FD department want in the sense of ruthless commitment to the cause - and that's cool, cause that's what works for him... he may have even had some existential awakenings due to the death of his Dad...You can be athletically gifted, doesn't mean you like the grind of the season(s)... see Kyrgios/Tomic as other examples of supreme talent that maybe can't be bothered with the process...in the end there are reasons why he wants to explore the opportunities elsewhere, and why the FD are happy for him to do so.
