  1. Oh, I get it now... these major developments are happening, yet whilst you are aware of 'said' major developments as a third party, you are unwilling to obtain more information, but more than happy to let others know that you have some sort of information, that something, somewhere is occurring, at some stage. I wasn't expecting a media release, but assumed you would be posting, and was frothing for it...
  2. If the FD are cool with him leaving, does he owe you your emotional investment in him still?
  3. @WERRIDEE, did you read the article? Do you understand his position and context? Do you still have the same opinion?
  4. FWIW and I'm just one punter... Even though Jesse has a range of god given talents....I wonder whether he genuinely fits the system and culture that Goodwin really wants...
  5. Is evening from "6pm-9pm" or is it up to 11.59pm?
  6. https://www.theroar.com.au/2018/09/27/if-melbourne-are-going-to-trade-jesse-hogan-heres-how-to-do-it/ Thought this was a good read on numerous levels
  7. bellingcat are on to you
  8. As an observation a ll players that I’ve been in contact with, know the commercial reality - they rarely speak of it as a brotherhood or all my mates - even the 18yo speak in terms of working in the organisation they are currently employed at. There is a generational shift in how they perceive the afl football landscape and understand that everyone and anyone can be gone and change clubs in this time for trades. To them it is merely a job... it’s hard to be passionate about your own job day in day out right? It’s no different for them. Its us supporters that still hold on to notions of tearing the fabric apart (yes not your words), when players leave.
  9. He might have really nice pace...but is he quick ??
  10. Has the trade been done yet,so I can move on with my life? @Mach5, if there is no news re your earlier post - I’ll hunt you down.
  11. I dropped him in there - #1512 I could have easily said Kelly... I suppose.
  12. Just a broad view thought Through the death of his father, through cancer, through signficant injury... there is a whole range of existential stuff playing out for him...and has been for sometime. I wouldn't blame him if he seeks the coin to play in his home state, where his mates are, at the expense of the relationships he has formed here...because nothing is guaranteed. He's 23 and may not value (because he is 23) what we perceive as a successful period of time...he may be a really pragmatic bloke, and think that, he has time in his career to be part of something bigger back home. Even though there is a whole lot of $$$ on offer presumably, it's clearly bigger than that for the bloke.
  13. on a reflection, quite the fair point you have there @MurDoc516 ...erm, for the love of the red and the blue, and an electricity bill discount?
  14. Since when does Gaff need to be traded for @praha? Ideally, Hogan--> Freo Neale ---> Brisbane Picks 4,5 to Melbourne Gaff to Melbourne Preuss to Melbourne May to Melbourne 5 to GC 4 to GWS Whitfield to Melbourne
  15. so would you if you still had your teeth... boom tish...ill see myself out.
  16. Agreed 100%...
  17. Well @Tony Tea it still sounds as though it’s about the potential for something to happen rather than it is happening. fWIW - I’m almost happy for him to go to merely prove the point to some posters that it’s ok to discuss hypotheticals, as sometimes those hypotheticals occur.
  18. Setting a goal is not setting a standard, that's setting an expectation...it's fairly nuanced I get it... standards (in 2018's language) is about behaviours time and time and time again... set them high for sure..make people accountable for sure (see Watts, Garlett, etc etc) with an understanding that athletes are humans, and [censored] up as well...
  19. Because it is not the reality of elite sport...that's why not. Because MFC don't operate in a vacuum, other teams improve for a variety of reasons, from technical, to tactical, to age, to experience, to what staff the bring on, to what players they bring, to the vagaries of umpiring, to how many times to effing play at kardinia park... etc etc Top 4 is a pass mark. But i'd like to distinguish between expectations vs hope. For all the reasons listed before, I'd hope we'd get top 4 - and I'd expect we comfortably make the 8, considering learning for the year and the demographic of our club. If we don't - it's not because 'we haven't learned', or thoroughly gone through things forensically', I see that as too simplistic.
  20. Totally admit it... no issues there @Diamond_Jim - it's not just about preparation though, that's far too reductionist. Shall agree to disagree
  21. In your opinion, leaning is only observed if performance occurs at a linear rate does it? So next year a minimum of 18 wins is a pass?
  22. I find these sorts of comments really frustrating, as I'm fairly certain there is no response that would change your conviction, nonetheless here goes... Let's assume that they did prepare 'properly' as they did for the previous two finals. Does preparing properly mean that a whole range of things that occurred (missed handballs, slipping over, poor tackles/pressure etc etc), doesn't occur? Also, what does preparing properly look like to you @beelzebub in your day to day? Have you ever prepared properly, but because of someone else (or a range of someone elses) things didn't go the way you expected. Sometimes [censored] happens, and its got SFA to do with the preparation, it all to do with the execution under pressure. And sometimes (actually every time) exposure to an uncomfortable experience reduces the stress for the next time... It's to be expected to some degree that this happened as the players are a young young team, with no knowledge of playing finals...and probably had spent most of their petrol tickets over the previous 5 games.... I vehemently disagree with the 'preparation' problem...its too myopic.
  23. Totally pleased... I come here for the debate, and opinions, anything is fair go as long as it isn't bigoted. Mind, it feels for the some that the emotional cost to not potentially have Hogan is too much, that they can't even hear a 'pub type conversation' that is happening on an internet forum. I like you're first point though, perhaps you could post that...and then exit the thread? Because as you say, it's a total waste of energy discussing Hogan leaving/trading options etc, unlike the meta debate about whether Hogan role in the team is worthy of a trade is appropriate or not... as that is far more worthy of energy.
  24. Why @Jaded, it is a forum after all. You don't have to open the thread.
