Farewell Jesse Hogan
The culture of trading is vastly different now in the AFL with free agency... Including: An openness to letting players who don't want to be at your club leave, rather than proving a point because you feel wounded that they want to leave. Letting all players that aren't your core 4/6 - explore options elsewhere All clubs are more open to trades that closely match what they are after - so operating with realism - vs the hardline stance that was abundant over the past few years and beyond. All parties, Clubs and Players, understand that every decision that is made, is driven by the commercial interests of that party. Both parties what remuneration that is fair and equitable. FWIW - it's hard to see May staying, whether he comes to the Dee's is another story...

It was more the commentary around throwing their dumb chest at him... that sounded rather definitive.

@Macca can you explain to me the difference between 1 year to go and 2 years to go, and what that does, compared to end of contract and 1 year to go?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
For those packaging up KK and May, I would put KK as a seperate conversation to May as KK is not a required player from their perspective.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
My memory was that Roos played him forward for the entire year...not to test others out, but to ensure our back line could learn to play without him... it was so effing obvious from round 3....

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
Personally, I don't think he is pretty enough to fit into our culture...

It's a fair point @rumpole in that change of language, and on reflection I would agree. Further to that, is how the MFC operate in the trading speculation process. Personally, I love that we operate the anthesis of North Melbourne, in that nothing comes out of the club until the media release.

FFS - they've demonstrated numerous times over numerous years, that they are shrewd operators. You'd almost think supporters assume they don't know how to handle negotiations....

That's a really fair analysis @Redleg AFL sanctioned of course...

well, that's my point.? I'm totally cool on the go home factor, be it Hogan, be it VDB, whomever - it makes sense...it's disappointing if things transpire that way for whomever for the club, for supporters, and I still get it... But to do a Mitch Clarke...well, it just feels deceitful. (or a mal michael)....

Farewell Jesse Hogan
love it... what did you google to bring this up? or do you have an amazing love for mr bean?
-
Farewell Jesse Hogan
Which would suggest he is completely disgruntled and doesn't care where he goes (ie: its not the go home factor) or its only about coin.... that doesn't feel accurate at all....

Aaron vandenBerg not going - signs a new deal!!!
Agreed @Smokey. He's big, he physically impacts, but by god, he can't hit a target either by hand or foot.

Aaron vandenBerg not going - signs a new deal!!!
Because they're a mature organisation and understand that investment in people doesn't guarantee them a return in this particular climate. More practically, they understand that a player needs to look after themselves long term......and then there is the humanistic side of...bloke has lost his father, practicalities of being close to home etc etc... AND, your opinion is fine that you think he is selfish for that.. I just wanted to check I had that correct.
