  1. If you're not reading The Roar, here is another article I'm just getting into the website recently, and it's an enjoyable informed read. Here's a preview of tonight
  2. Just saw Rance v Puopolo... It blows my mind that Rance is still lauded as an upstanding citizen by commentators who are watching his games LIVE - when there is plenty of video evidence to the contrary, on just about a weekly basis. If his name was Mitch Robinson or Hayden Ballentyne etc etc etc...
  3. You don't think the FD have thought of this stuff...seriously??
  4. So what, you're saying is that we will be the better team over the 4 quarters... have greater scoring shots, and still may lose? Yep, I'd go with that one too...
  5. I too, can't bare to watch this game with anyone else around, so my better half has unreluctantly gone a retreat for the weekend, and I'll have the little lad tucked up in bed. The phone will be off, and I'll be having some home made pizza (someone mentioned this elsewhere...always the best choice, compared to shop purchased fare). I believe in Goodwin's philosophy of the contested game stacks up in finals... I'm not worried about that, I'm interested in how the (potentially?!?) increased intensity affects our game style... I also don't believe our players will be overawed...I think that is a post hoc analysis if a team has lost...so that in itself won't be the answer. Keen to hear what others are looking for tactically.
  6. Practically, what does a team do to ‘deal with’ Richmond’s, constant knocking on, spiking (a la volleyball) etc at all costs? Do we incorporate it into our game style - personally I think it’s intuitive and works well in our game.
  7. mmm, his gut was either team would give the other a rogering....
  8. As the Spice Girls once sang Yo, I'll tell you what I want, what I really, really want So tell me what you want, what you really, really want I'll tell you what I want, what I really, really want So tell me what you want, what you really, really want I wanna, (ha) I wanna, (ha) I wanna, (ha) I wanna, (ha) I wanna really, really, really wanna injury carnage for the other 6 teams....
  9. Anything to do with Wayne, well you know, I tend to shut down...but anyone's my best friend when they tell me things I want to hear... https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/demons-rising-a-new-september-force-gathers-20180906-p5023s.html?crpt=homepage
  10. It's never the first game back that's the issue, it's the recovery between the first and second and the fatigue for the second that's the problem for players...
  11. Play ‘It’s a Grand Old Flag’ on repeat all week in my business (I’m in the Geelong area) and smile knowingly at my staff and clients...
  12. So, one of the clear plans for Geelong is to shark the ball in the contest...they back theirs...we back ours... (we've got better stoppers who can damage going forward (Harmes on form, viney, I'd imagine ANB may go to Ablett, with his running power, and AVB and Trac with their bigger body.core strength to impede the Danger/Selwood/Ablett/Menegola getting the ball)). Also having Max drop into the backline, and the rebound from Hibberd/Salem, will be used to scythe through transition on the 45 for ANB, Trac to allow TMAC, Weid to mark the ball in the F50 and if they don't mark it, Spargo to be front and centre at the fall to snaffle the crumbs and ANB to poach 3 goals running into the goal square... Just on that... Spargo for a cool 5 goals
  13. This makes no sense to me at all... practically how that plays out game day, or even the arrogance to choose to do so (see St Kilda)... BUT - I hope you'er right @Clintosaurus
  14. what do you think the coaches see in Spargo, that you don't out of curiousity?
  15. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-09-03/melbournes-12-years-of-misery-revisited
  16. Mmmm, Tom $cully is potentially out of GWS - without the history, I'd take him in heart beat.
  17. It doesn't... neither for them, nor for us.(they're not out on the ground thinking of all those articles and how arrogant this team is... actually, if they are doing that...great - it means they're not focused on task). Although its a similar theme here - much like the training camp for us - post hoc analysis by supporters/commentators - always tries to make sense of these things, and links them together to draw easy solutions.
  18. You obviously don't live down here on The Bellarine/Surfcoast, Geelong surrounds.. it's called the Geelong Advertiser... and its daily...all.year.round.
  19. It's not the 2000 grandfinal... things have evolved, it won't be like that... and even if there is bit of 'pushy-shovey' -I don't think it would ruffle anyones feathers, to not continue to go hard at the ball...
  20. It's one thing for Scott to say that externally for the public, the message internally is different. I know for a fact that internally at the club, they rate the Dee's very highly...
  21. yep, i agree - and I really rate whitfield...
  22. what a hilarious, and hilariously damning read (if this was similar to what occurred)... coaches and fd departments don't know, what they don't know, when they chase the panacea for mental *ahem* toughness. frightening that merely by word of mouth of one the fd's direct experience - they don't due their due diligence - on whether any of the practitioners are members of AHPRA.
  23. @Redleg - couldnt be bothered listing him or Viney there will be turn over, clearly... I've said it before... Josh Mahoney has not just alluded to, but overtly said that Melbourne will pursue a free agent in this year’s exchange period to help bolster its push for a drought-breaking premiership (april 16th 2018 h.sun - paywall for the article) In my mind, Mahoney only ever says these things publicly, when something is signed, sealed and delivered, not when it is a maybe. The question is whom.
