I honestly would love to see a stat for the number of times a player loses his feet, I reckon Jack Watts would comfortably be the league leader.

This is [censored] comical

We have too many players who have elite traits that seduce us into thinking they are up to it, but at the same time we overlook other traits that mean they will never make it. Fitzy is so quick and agile for his size, Tom McDonald can run all day, Jack Watts is a nice user of the ball, and the list goes on.

I think it is pretty obvious isn't it? He comes from a community where playing in the AFL isn't the be all and end all, playing footy is about hanging with your mates and taking speccies (quoted from Waylen himself who has openly admitted how much he struggles with the training). I think from watching the show it was almost blatantly obvious he didn't have the mindset of an AFL footballer. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with his attitude, it just isn't what is required to make it in the modern game, which is actually a bit sad, but that is the way it is.

My support for the sport in general has waned significantly over the last handful of years, but oddly enough I have become even more obsessed with our club over the same period. If we merged or were relocated I would still retain a diminished interest, but if we folded, that would be it for me with footy, and I would devote more of my energy towards football (soccer), which already gets it's fair share from me as it is. But it won't happen, and I would be absolutely devastated if it did.

I can't believe anyone who watches the show would be interested in taking a punt on Waylen. Attitude is nowhere near what is required, which I understandable given his background, but unfortunately it just won't work. And not to mention I have seen very little in Waylen to get excited about from the limited game footage they show. Wagner looks like a definite prospect. His kicking action is a bit unorthodox but he is quick and looks an elite athlete.

Jetta was one of only a few who can hold his head up. Cross looked horrible today, hopefully it was an aberration.
-
All bar 15 or 20 on the whole list need to be moved on. Some will stay on the list for a year or two longer than expected due to contract length or providing an older head for a year or two. Is Matt Jones really contracted for a further two years? How does this happen? He has a go and provides more than a few on the list, but is so far short of the required standard it isn't funny.

Wow. Just wow.

That was fun wasn't it.

We just have to win today, and would love to see us to top 100 points (not margin, just our score).
-
My wife picked out Nev as her favourite Dees player about 2 or 3 years ago, and I always thought what an odd player to pick as your favourite, meanwhile Colin Sylvia was mine. Hmmm
-
Still think Nathan Jones will win, but Tyson, Jetta and Dunn not too far behind. If Dom Tyson's natural improvement continues as expected, he is more than a chance next year.
-
Apprehensive, yes, but most of what has been written is much more than that.

Pretty pi55 weak from a lot of supporters this week unfortunately. We had a disappointing loss last week (despite leading by 3 goals early in the last quarter), the game before we were a bees [censored] away from beating Port at the Adelaide Oval, and on a few occasions this year we have put in brave performances against highly regarded opposition. Of course there has been the Freo, Geelong and West Coast losses which have been bad (still not the 100 point plus pantsings of years gone by). Not saying we definitely wont suffer badly today but I am going in a lot more hopeful and optimistic than most other 'supporters' on here. I am predicting a 30 point loss, not the 15 goal spanking many others are predicting.

I have finally learnt to tell them apart. And if you can't tell by looking, Chris is the one who whinges most of the time, Brad is the one who whinges all the time.
-
As frustrating as the loss was on Sunday, only a sheer lunatic can't see we have dramatically improved. We are still well off the pace but we have definitely eaten into that gap considerably this year. We were so far back it wasn't funny under Neeld.

Or a footballer

The number of times we are bringing the ball forward and we miss targets is embarrassing. And I'm not just talking about the obvious clangers, I lost count of the number of simple kicks that miss their target by a couple of metres, putting the receiver under pressure, and then the ball being coughed up in the next couple of possessions due to the unnecessary pressure. Terlich was possibly the worst culprit today but wasn't alone. And Jack Watts...wow. His season goes from average to ordinary to putrid by the week.

No one in their right mind can have a go at Jetta's performance today, or all season in fact.

My 3 word player analysis V Port Adelaide
Forest Demon replied to joeboy's topic in Melbourne Demons
After Frawley's couple of ordinary games back, I actually think he is a better option up forward atm. -
Of course. I just feel sorry for him that he finally does the thing we want him to do, which doesn't come naturally to him, and he gets pinged for it. Hopefully Roos shows him that and says that is exactly what he should be doing, and you cop the odd dubious decision.
-
Poor Jack, does what everyone screams for him to do and gets pinged unfairly for it.
-
I like Tappy, but pace, perhaps more than any other attribute, is hard to improve.

Neville Jetta is fast becoming a favourite. The speed today's game is played at make agility and keeping your feet hugely important, and Nev's agility and ability to keep his feet is first class, and he uses the ball well. Actually makes me wonder why he hasn't been more successful in the earlier part of his career.
