Just love the fact that now if you play Melbourne, you might beat us but you are going to have earn it. Almost to a man, they are cracking in for 120 minutes. The West Coast game was an aberration (as Brad Scott would put it). In the past few years a belting in round one or two and the whole club would have raised the white flag.

No chance of anyone even being cited over that

Match Preview and Team Selection - round 7
Forest Demon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
As much as I personally don't think Byrnes should be playing, I think when a player earns a promotion from Casey, Roos is always giving at least two weeks in the firsts, which I agree with. And I guess no changes isn't overly surprising given the competitive effort against the Swans and Casey copping a hiding. -
I hope Jack is called out in front of this leading teams stuff. Shown examples of his tame efforts and shown examples of where he needs to get too. He doesn't need to become Daniel Cross but even a first gamer in Salem cracks in lower and with more far more purpose. And his tackling and contested work are one thing, but his canter and lack of urgency are the killers. Could beat Usaon Bolt over 50 metres but we would never know given I cant remember the last time he broke into a sprint. Not a fan of supporters Bronx cheering or getting stuck into one of our own, but this guy needs a few home truths.

GOOD Salem's cameo and JKH's finish to the game Many owe Pedersen an apology. Regardless of his output, which has been good the last month, he is playing with heart and went back with the flight against Buddy at one stage too. Will support anyone who plays with this passion and effort. Dunn has become a rock, Matt Jones and Bernie Vince were great. Keeping our opposition to such low scores consistently. Playing four quarters and not dropping our bundle. BAD Have quietly stuck up for Terlich, but his disposal hurt us a few times last night. Jeremy Howe. What to do with him? Needs a spell at Casey. UGLY Holding the ball Buddy Franklin's old man Jack Watts' progress

I think we are about par for the improvement I had hoped for. I was realistic and thought we would finish bottom three this year, but I think some posters forget just how far back we are coming from. Melbourne of 2013 were one of worst sides in AFL/VFL history.
-
Yeah, I thought the same thing when watching, especially given he would have played with all of the older guys still playing. As for the umpiring yesterday, it was back to its frustrating worst. And the less said about the goal review the better. The system is actually quite hilariously bad.
-
Tend to agree. He looked out of his depth today, but he is batting ay 4 and 1, or 3 and 2 at worse. Better than most.
-
Really?
-
Can look at stats all you want. The fact that a few other spuds couldn't lay a tackle don't make Jack's 'efforts' any better.
-
I love Nathan Jones. He, Dawes and a small handful of others are the ones who will set the example to lead this club back to competitiveness.
-
Watts just does everything at half intensity...running, marking, tackling, and I think it is finally time to call him out on it. Drop him and he doesn't come back until he does it consistently, if that is round 10, 20 or never, I don't care, because he is no good to us like this.
-
Surely Jack Watts must be embarrassed when they gather around on Mondays to go through the review. Never has a single player provided me with so much frustration. Trengove was dropped and surely Watts must be dropped now aswell. Played well in round one and has been living off it since.

Jack Trengove out for year with navicular fracture
Forest Demon replied to Arrow's topic in Melbourne Demons
Couldn't be bothered digging it up but I said in another thread that in a weird way, the best outcome would be that something like this would be the case. I can tell you first hand that these sort of injuries can greatly affect your speed, having suffered similar injuries myself and found myself unable to push off and accelerate, meaning I lost all of my acceleration and speed. And we can only assume he has been suffering from it for a while given the Dank text. All in all, I am reasonably comfortable with this. Let this thing heal and be back for the first day of pre season 2015 ready to become the player we all know he can. -
Spencer punished a woeful Warnock, but still has a little way to go to compete and at least neutralise against the league's better ruckmen. But he is definitely improving. Jamar is just about cooked and Jake is a much better option than Gawn as a full time ruckman until Gawn can run a game out in the ruck at the very least.

Yes, but credit where credit is due, he has looked a different player the last two weeks, and good on him.

DEMONLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR - ROUND 4
Forest Demon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
6 - Chip Frawley - some game up forward, 14 marks and a couple of goals 5 - Nathan Jones - a captain to truly be proud of, completely pantsing the opposition's skipper 4 - Daniel Cross - what a great pick up, especially for our list, every single player should take a leaf out of his book 3 - Jake 'The Snake' Spencer - killed Warnock and threw himself about (as usual but to great effect today) 2 - Chris Dawes - even if statistically he didn't have a great day, I am not sure we win that game if he isn't playing 1 - Jack Viney - love the way he throws himself in, and burst away from a couple of packs with great effect Most were great today, maybe Vince and Tyson (who was tagged) were down, but that can only be a good thing that two of our more consistent performers had quiet days and we still got up reasonably comfortably -
I love Daniel Cross. Not hard to see why he was an absolute favourite amongst Doggies fans.
-
Sorry, but I don't compute
-
Half expected to see Neeld in opposition post match circles, given the way he seemed to plot against us at times. Sorry Neeldy, cheap shot.
-
Just looked at the stats. Chris Dawes must have played the best 8 disposal game I have seen. Provided a consistent target, was never out marked, always bought the ball down front and centre at worst. We looked so much better with him there, not to mention Chip had a bit more freedom to have a blinder.
-
The fact Nathan Jones went head to head with media love child Marc Murphy and destroyed him brings a tear to my eye. Jake the Snake gave Wanock a bath (surely he is bordering on worst player in the comp). Chris Dawes provided so much structure, direction and assistance. Well done.

Must admit it is a nice change that instead of calling for the coach's head, we want them to extend their stay. Sadly, this only because I think we all realise now what a long fix this football club is, and the ramifications we might see if this regime can't get us going in the right direction.
-
Trengove never dominates when at Casey like you might expect. As I have stated previously, his lack of acceleration and agility will not be improved no matte what level he plays at week in week out. He either needs time off if he is suffering from OP or similar, re-invent himself as an inside mid, or he is not up to it. Sadly, option 3 looms as the favourite.

If Jamar can run out a game he must play. I am no Jamar fan but Spencer is getting monstered in the ruck.
