Of course the umps didn't cost us the game, but that doesn't make the current umpiring standard acceptable. I think most level headed footy fans have had enough.

Good effort though at the end of the day, hopefully we are past our horrible month and we can be competitive for the rest of the season.

Umpiring and the rules continues to deteriorate to almost unwatchable levels. And I know it's not just my Melbourne bias, be cause watching neutral games even gets me [censored] off.

I think St Kilda, Brisbane, GWS, and us are all as bad as each other, although our last month has been pretty awful. I don't think any team in the comp this year is anywhere near as bad as the 2013 MFC, or the 2013 GWS for that matter.

Yesterday's result certainly came out of nowhere. We smashed a couple of sides in 2010 when we were semi decent. But as for all the other years when we have been terrible, I can't remember us coming out and unexpectedly pummelling anyone.

Funny thing with Watts is I keep hearing from the 'experts' that he is having a good year and is thriving under Roos. If this is his best then god help us. He had 1 excellent game in round 1, maybe 2 or 3 acceptable games, and the rest have been rubbish.

Same old story, any good work we do is undone by our inability to convert or get a cheap goal.

Seriously, watch a replay of all their goals back to back, and bar the one coast to coast goal, every other one has come from us turning it over coming out of defence. Amazingly infuriating.

Stopped reading after Dunn being better than Frawley in his AA year. Frawley was an absolute beast that year. I honestly haven't seen a full back so dominant since. But unfortunately Chip is only a shadow of that player these days, still handy, but nowhere near that level.

Overly generous IMO. First half was unacceptable, last quarter and a half was excellent. Nifty Nev and Dunn the best for me. Without them it could have benn ten goals at half time.

I read it as nothing to do with anyone other than current or ex essendon players. And the age says it relates to Thymosin Beta 4, not AOD, which is what Trengove was alleged to have put on his foot.

The ump is within his right to do it if he is having a shot, but he never looked like taking a shot from that far out. Great game anyway nev.

The call to not allow the Vince goal was costly. Would have been 4 points late in the third. Surely it is just play on if he wanders off the line?

Up forward, Gawn is all or nothing. Either takes a grab or the opposition just stroll out of defence. We lacked a crumber (among other things).

Too stagnant and then when we moved it forward quickly we butchered it. Tyson and Dawes had absolute stinkers and the young crew struggled. As much as we all wanted a win, the result is probably a fair reflection of where we are.

Sylvia and Moloney both rotting away in the reserves of their new clubs. Tells a story.

Great effort, but shot ourselves in the foot too often. St Kilda, Doggies and today were all games we should have won from where we were 15 minutes from the end and with the general flow of those games. Loving watching this team play these days though and can not wait for QB now.

That Brodie Holland hit on Brett Montgomery in a final would go close. Fark that was a big hit.

Most of the blokes playing in the VFL need a few home truths, just perhaps not publicly.

I have never seen a back six give their opponents so much rope and such little body contact. As funny as it sounds, GWS were all over them in te first quarter, but couldn't convert and Richmond just took the chances the lacklustre GWS defence was giving them. From then on, GWS have given up and Richmond are full of beans.

How much better are these reports now that are honest and critical where necessary. Obviously, 'defensive transition' is a popular term amongst the coaching staff.

Medium impact? That is rubbish.

Going to be a tough team to pick if Frawley and Jetta are fit, and Dawes doesn't get a week. Jetta has to play if fit given the number of dangerous quick smalls Port have.

I haven't noticed Bail's kicking at all since pre-season where he was still kicking the big up and unders that gave defenders way too much time. So that means either he has improved his kicking or he isn't getting a kick, so I am guessing it is the former.
