  1. Commentary not too bad. They don't know all our players but they aren't anywhere near as bad as previous years.
  2. Interesting, I haven't bothered ever looking back at that draft as I hate retrospective draft calls, but I distinctly remember at the time Atley being touted to go top 10, wonder why he slipped.
  3. For anyone who didn't listen last year, or other years, and think posters are being over the top, they aren't. Listened last year and actually found it amusing how biased and stupid they were, but I guess it is their radio station so they can do as they please.
  4. I am predicting a good year from Strauss. Injury and form will mean a lot of these guys will get some games, but I think Strauss has the tools, and is finally over his big injury, much like Blease in that sense.
  5. Another rule where something will happen, the whistle is blown and everyone looks to te ump with no idea of which way the free is going.
  6. Definitely agree re Sellar. We have enough big bodies who can create a contest up forward. Anytime Sellar has looked good enough it has been as a defender.
  7. He is one of those players whose mistakes are monumental, rather than many little ones. The passage of play where he gave the ball away cheaply across half back, gave away a free, and then a 50 all within 20 seconds was a perfect example. Probably my most frustrating player on the list.
  8. Pretty much agree. I said in an earlier post we were smashed in the first half of that game, but we did keep them goalless in the second half (I think), and had our fair share of it. Can start to read a little more into things from next week onwards when they start playing full games., but even then I don't care about wins and losses, as nice as a win would be. It's all about round one.
  9. If we lose round one you can start sooking. But c'mon, this was 2 glorified training runs and they looked ok anyway. To put it in perspective, when Kent had the chance to dish off to someone and kick a super goal to win, I wanted him to just go back and kick it as that is what he needs to do in the real stuff. This is the one time where performance means far more than the result, and while there are obviously things to work on, they were decent.
  10. Meh. Good signs mostly I thought. Richmond destroyed us in the first half of that game but other than that it was decent. Kids mostly looked good. Hogan looks ready to go right now.
  11. Never looked forward to NAB Cup footy like I am looking forward to Friday night. Just want to watch some footy. But I think the pre-season drags on far too long. From the first weekend of NAB Cup to Round 1 of the season proper is something like 6 weeks.
  12. I actually think McLardy has done an excellent job.
  13. I like the idea of the 3 strike policy but not in it's current form. The media and a lot of supporters would love the headlines of players positive tests and subsequent suspensions but that is only likely to send that player's mental state and drug use to new lows.
  14. Sylvia is what he is. He was good in the second half of last year although many on here weren't prepared to admit or couldn't see it for whatever reason. He is a decent footballer, but chances of someone at his age taking the next step up and becoming a gun are unlikely. Yes, he could have been more, but he isn't, but he is also still in our top 10 players at the moment, and easily best 22 for the foreseeable future.
  15. Must admit I'm nervous about this injury. Hopefully the big fella is back as soon as possible and can get back up to speed pretty quickly.
  16. Geez, that might be pushing it a little. He has great sideways movement Jetta but probably not as good as Rioli's, and nowhere near the straight line speed or skills of Cyril.
  17. Was tracking just fine until last season, for which I am definitely in the 'he was carrying an injury' camp. As stated earlier this year is not set up well due to spending a large chunk of the pre-season in a moon boot, but long term I think he will be a very good player. He is a hard worker who won't leave anything to chance, and if the injuries allow him I think he will become the player he is capable of. He has good skills and is a good mark for his size.
  18. I think there should be some sort of spot on the rookie list, similar to the international rookie spot, for clubs to place remote indigenous talents on their list. When you consider spots on an AFL list are at a premium, and the extreme difficulty that these guys have to move to the city and adjust to life as an AFL footballer. I just think we have measures in place to bring over Irishmen and Americans who have never played the game, but I think the time has come to give these guys a better chance at a career. I am not sure how you would determine what classifies as a remote indigenous player etc, but I think the idea has merit.
  19. Should have snotted the little shits
  20. Nice one mate, that was excellent. The Collingwood guy was hilarious, and obviously a little special, but he had me in stitches. Except when they were burning the swans scarf, as that isn't on. Unfortunately he did get that premiership.
  21. I think he is every bit as tough as Luke Hodge, sometimes to both their detriment. But you are right that he doesn't have the skills to rear a game up like Hodge can.
  22. Can't really believe anyone would be so stupid. Gives a little insight into the culture and peer pressures that people from these remote communities are involved in. But there comes a point in time where someone has to take responsibility for their own actions, especially when given the opportunities Liam has had. He is obviously an ordinary bloke and I honestly hope he gets the book thrown at him, not that I think that will help the situation. Very sensitive topic but as I said, take some responsibility for your actions. Could have easily mowed down a pedestrian driving that [censored].
  23. I liked the line, 'Connolly said, perhaps joking "the Zulus will get you"...really, you think that was 'perhaps' said in jest. Anyone who delivered that line to me seriously would be greeted with laughter. And the Watts implication is simply the stupidest thing I have heard in regards to the investigation, and it had some stiff competition.
  24. Kids with ability throw it away all the time because they don't have the attitude and hunger. Must suck for this poor kid who has the ability, by all reports has the attitude, but one knee just won't let him have a crack at a career. Feel for him and others before him who have been shot down before getting a real chance.
  25. Comparing Cale Morton's skills to Travis Johnstone is like comparing me to Brad Pitt. Cale is an average kick when on his own under no pressure and unacceptably poor under pressure. TJ had the skills to calve out a decent career, although it should have been better, on skill alone, but I don't think Cale can do the same. I think Moloney will be serviceable, Martin will underwhelm, Gysberts and Bennell won't make it, Petterd will be ok but ultimately frustrate, Morton will barely get a game, and Rivers will be decent although I think the Cats will slide out of the 8 this year and beyond, and I think he may live to regret leaving.
