Agreed although like pulling off a bandage, its usually wiser to get it over with. I take that back, we will win today.

You and half the crowd

Has anyone been watching Trenners of late? Wondering how often hes played and his form. Not sure he will be around next year if he doesnt get a game soon.

I dont get this price. I went to the Dees Tiges game on Monday and fronted up over an hour early and bought GA teickets for one adult at 24 dollars and 2 kids which cost about 12 or something each With a crowd of 85,000 we got great seats in the cheer squad. Your tix prices suck. Is it booking fees or dry area, or some catch? -
The highlights reel would probably beg to differ. He was a legend,

Dland agrees that Pedo is a lock. (at long bloody last) Unfortunately Weids will get another crack with Hogan unavailable and both Smiths injured although the suggestion of Tmac up frwd isnt bad. Seems to be little love for Kent which I feel is a little rough. His last game was his first for the year and he wasnt totally useless by any means. Can Hibberd play forward? JKH is a possible ommission for me. He just didnt display any hunger last week and if he plays on Sunday he needs to perform or he may not be around for much longer.

Probably should have left it on. I hear Jason Dunstall is looking for a piece.

Is big bird a free agent?

Not disputed but we are still well positioned for the future.

Well five games in and we have 2 wins that some may rightly say barring injuries, could be five. In a season where so many of us are expecting to play finals, are we still a chance? The odds of losing 2 ruckmen so quickly are as high as Capper’s shorts. It must be a consideration when examining our performance thus far despite people saying “thats football”. I drove 800 km to go the Richmond / Dees game and I was proud to see so many Melbourne supporters. If Weids can improve and become a super third forward (Im including Watts and Hogan) then we are in a great position. Hibberd was awesome and a credit to the recruitment department and has filled a much needed hole in the defence line. Perhaps next year we can pick up another tall forward. We have all been impressed with young guns Oliver, Hunt and sometimes Harmes. Trac is improving dramatically. There are a few players not playing as expected like Viney and Tyson but there are others like Salem and Stretch who have improved this year. There are some on our list that Im not sure about who have been around for a while now a few because of injuries that will no doubt be delisted to make way for new players. So even if we don’t make finals and have the same amount of wins as last year doesn’t mean we haven’t improved. I’m convinced we have. The question to be answered is by how much. It’s so frustrating to be only 2 wins at this stage but we certainly have a talented young team that with the footy God’s blessings can achieve finals glory if not 2017 than certainly within 2 years of it. If we can just "reset" this weekend and overcome the obvious ruck problem and beat a cocky Essendon than we are still a strong chance to make it this year. Go Dees.

THBT makes a fair point about Freo. This a team that 2 years ago could have wont the flag. It helps take away a bit of the sting but not much. -
Can we all agree footy is a cruel two timing, selfish mistress?
-
Now you are just going back to old posts to throw your own stones. Viney is too young and not talented enough to be co captain so why is he? He will most likely be captain but lets be fair if his dad never played would he been have picked so early? Why not Mcdonald or again Watts? Its a fair assumption. Viney is young and no super star yet.

I hope it is a case of Freo being better than we all thought. -
That's spelled personified and your argument is non existent.... but hey well thought out. J Watts would be an awesome co captain and the way he played today reflects that. Next time think before you type.

Cant blame players out. Sure there are two huge losses but thats footy. Good teams have enough depth to cover losses. Look at the doggies last year....they were completely decimated with injuries but won the flag. I like your optimism but Im not sure its totally warranted. I think we will struggle to get 13 wins and make finals after this effort and Im sure this loss will come back and bite us. -

Ha. I dont think any quote would help. Feel a lot the same. Picket has a lot of passion for this club and I understand his frustration. Last year I posted that some of us have waited longer to see a flag which people dissed but its true. For guys in their 50s and some in their 60s who cant recall the glory days its been a [censored] hand. Its a [censored] hand at times for all of us the last 10 years but trust me for those who have only supported the club that long..... add another 30 years and youd be making posts like this. This was supposed to be a breakout year but we play like this at home against a bottom side. Its hard to see finals happening now which eway you slice it and Im guessing that's why Pickett is upset. I know I am. -
Agreed on the co captain. Poor bloody Watts now hes blighted by the club. Viney has along way to go and just cos his dad played for us is not an auto pass to be captain which is clearly the case. Hes a nice guy and a good player and will improve but talent, comitmnent and experience should come first which brings a few others into the mix b4 Jack.
-
His lack of passion worries me. Look at Hogan when hes not having a big day....he runs up the ground, abuses his team mates, takes a mark or lays a tackle. I hope Weids was told to stay put because he made no effort to tackle or go and get the ball.
-
If is the key word here and I know thats why they played him. Its a juggling act at best but a player can also go downhill if crushed each week. Look how long it took Watts to recover from his premature entry to the big time.
