  1. You're kidding. We would want Jacobs but Hampson is an athlete who struggles to take a chest mark. No our mandate is to screw carlton over, not the other way around. of course they would like a good key defender for their 4th ruckman.
  2. absolutely top notch defensive work this year, fast, great tackling, good reader of the play gets involved. However kicking is worst in the side. that is our downfall down back. If only his kicking could improve.
  3. So how is this not front ending contracts? It's the same thing. The $800,000 needs to be actual money brought forward.
  4. good player but that losing mindset is entrenched in his system. could have won them the final in the last quarter on the weekend but missed an open goal from 20 metres, plus missing other gettable shots as well. I reckon he would be a great wingman, but would have to pay too much. coming off a knee reco as well. Let Carlton take our NQR players. it's more fun that way.
  5. Quentin Lynch? could be worth a look for us.
  6. Would be very surprised if he was offered, unless we were extremely aggressive and rolling the dice in trade week. He improved this year I thought, in terms of his kicking which was his weakness. He still gets caught too much but I can't help but think he is the type to 'find a way'. Some of his foot passing this year, and long goals had me re-thinking his skill level and his ability to compete in general play is still improving. plus his tagging roles are adding another dimension. To me you can see he is still a rough diamond but at 22 and almost 100 games, who knows what he will be at 150 or 200 games !! plus he gives 100 percent each week and I can't say that for all of our list at present.
  7. I am a fan of Bate, but this actually sums him up perfectly, well at least his weaknesses in any case. You would think with good coaching he would improve his contested marking, to protect the area of the ball drop. I don't think he is a selfish footballer at all as someone suggested, but perhaps too honest, not having the nouse to get easier frees or out fox his opponent. He does the predictable but that can be good for teammates, if he is on song !!
  8. underwhelming highlights package I must say. Nothing in it gives me anything to get excited about. I hope that was highlights of one game, because there were few highlights in that.
  9. I think he is certainly worth a look at. Believe me if Leigh Brown is making a name for himself at present, then the big Q can revive his career. A complete change for him, new club with an emerging young midfield and attacking backline could be just the ticket. if we get another skinny tall into the club we will just become a soft running doggies team doomed to never win it. we need more than that.
  10. 1. Win interstate. We have never had this apect to our game. EVER. Bailey needs to change this. 2. Play strong accountable footy. not just the front running style. We want a Hawthorn model, not Carlton. I will spew if we do another sensational game like against the swans then lose to Port over there when they are just average. 3. Develop this midfield. at present it shows promise but we need to go from promising to winning the contested ball. Still getting smashed in some games at the clearances. 4. Develop a second ruckman to assist Jamar. 5. Recruit minimum 3 young talls and develop them at Casey. biggest bang for our buck will still be through the draft.
  11. Gun player when up and running. Just the type we need as a big weakness is good kickers off half back. My only problem in his stats below is the first column. He has only played one full season. Can we rely on such a player. 72 games over 6 years is an average of 12 games a season. hmmmmm.... Year Team Games Kicks Handballs Disposals Marks Goals Behinds Tackles Hitouts Frees For Frees Ag. 12. Developing the players for 4 years in the ressies is not gone at all. Maric has had 3 already. I notice Robbie Tarrant was taken the same year and is playing for North this weekend. his 3rd game in 3 years. On the contrary, i think it can take a good 4 years to make a clear decision on whether some players can make it. and as such I will be very surprised if we delist Maric or Strauss. You can't keep them forever, but reality is you cannot learn it all straight away when you aren't a champion player. i would suggest Nik natanui will take 4 years to become consistent, and they will invest the time needed.
  13. Funny, I am reading Kevin Sheedys original book on him 'a touch of cunning'. In the 80s' he promoted Gary O'Donnell on the back of 72 VFL reserves games basically to see if he could handle the big time. It was the last game of the season. They put him on Daicos and he did well. that kept him on the list. That is one of many stories of good players that took time to develop. I reckon it too Brad Green till 3-4 years ago to toughen up, and now you can rely on him, generally speaking when it's his turn to go. with talented kids harder to find the next two years, we should keep Maric and Strauss on and see if they can become a Gary O'Donnell
  14. Source? very good player, only things is we have stacked up in the midfield. how versatile is he ? Would make our chances of a gun midfield a lot surer adding him in.
  15. Fitzpatrick is a lonnnnggg way off becoming a key forward for us. He is however improving as a ruck/occasional forward for Casey firsts so that is promising. He needs big improvement, so next year will tell a story, if he can improve at his current rate, it could be good for us. I just hope he can improve his kicking beyond what Spencer has done so far (good thing is even Spencer is still only 20 years old). I do remember we went for Aalwyn davey and Warnock and had my doubts either would go the distance. Especially davey who before then and after has shown little to me. warnock is showing something now, but to me he is the type that will be shoved aside at the ruck contests by the stonger ruckman like Jamar. I would almost prefer Jacobs at Carlton than either Warnock or Hampson.
  16. regardless, please do NOT bring him in for a farewell game. Still haven't got over round 22 2007 playing blokes who were no longer the future whilst wasting valuable game time for our youngsters. No disrepsect to Miller who deserves the utmost respect, but please don't promote him at the expense of many youngsters we have.
  17. I would suggest you re-watch the game. Maric won most of his contests, was ferocious at getting the ball, and helped set it up early, getting the ball to guys like Wonaeamirri. he did fade a bit towards the end. His form by all reports has been good at Casey as well. As for his disposal, compared to guys like MacDonald, Bruce when he was coming off half back, his disposal is a breath of fresh air.
  18. You mean blokes like Nathan Brown and Presti at Collingwood who know how to get to Victoria Park, or guys like Max Rooke at Geelong. How do we argue to get Warnock back in the side when we have improved since he left ? He is a good 'defensive' defender, but his disposal let him down at times. I'm sure Rivers and Warnock were discussed at length when we lost our way a bit. Rivers probably a better footballer but his pace has been a worry, given he is not a true key position player.
  19. Considering they are moving slowly down the ladder and we are moving up, I am not so sure that is actually the case.
  20. and explain this - The HUN have the clearances 40 v 32 in favour of the swans. That seems impossible watching the game yesterday.
  21. Agree that it wasn't really insightful but don't think it was so much shooting from the hip. They identified Bennell, Jetta and you can add in Wonna and Maric to that list of small forwards. add in Jurrah and you would expect one or two to make it. Can you say none of the 4 I mentioned won't make it ?
  22. Not sure if anyone saw this on Sunday, but Wallace analysed our list with shifter Sheahan, where we stand now and what we need going forward. The key points made by Wallace and the panel are as follows: The positives: Clear direction on where we are going. Set up key defenders for the future Potential star players are age 19-22 (peak 2013-14) Some quality X factor small forwards Then analysed some recent draft choices: Strauss - Melbourne tried to address the need for better kickers (as they did with Tapscott last year). Strauss was highlighted as they see this as a key weakness at the Dees, our backline lacks some A grade kicks !! Blease - real problems getting over his leg injury. The question is can he get back to his form at the under 18 champs, as he was great at breaking the lines. highlighted as someone to look out for. Rucks Highlighted Gawn first. both he and Fitzpatrick are long term but Spencer is the one really 'ready to go' as the next ruckman. Didn't seem overly excited by that. Will Watts be enough for talls up forward? (question posed by Hutchy) Wallace sees Watts as the high half forward so will need probably one more big bodied forward. What do the need for 2010 draft? Either 1. a big key forward or 2. a kicker off half back. If we are pick 14 (currently we are 11th which is pick 14) then they would go for... Dyson Heppell - strong over head, tallish left footer - he did look good on the highlights (bit like Schoenmakers at Hawthorn) Anyway, nothing too insightful from Wallace, but got me thinking if that big key forward isn't there at our picks in the next draft, then we would be better off getting a good kick off half back.
  23. he could feel a little aggrieved when Wona got a game in Darwin when he clearly was underdone and not exactly setting the world on fire. I would like to see him given more than a couple of games, just like a lot of other youngsters have had.
  24. It's just a disease with us travelling interstate. We have never had the unity and steel of a strong team to win interstate. We were pathetic under Daniher when we were finalists and it continues to this day. To be this predictably bad interstate is an indictment on our club regardless of where we sit on the ladder.
  25. We can just get the guy on demonland who he lives with (forgotten his name) to measure his height and confirm.
