  1. where do people get their information from? Watts would be the most closely followed player we have and most would know that is not the case at all. As for Cook having to play half back because of Fev, I hope this will push Melbourne to cut ties with Casey. They need to learn we cannot be stuffed around like this. in fact after we just went tall, tall, tall, tall in the draft it defies logic Gotch and co would need to recruit a fat Fev. Give us experience to learn off? you have to be joking.
  2. all is not lost if we dont panic and we are smart. I think when you go in with a weaker ruck the pressure can come onto the more dominant ruck if you read their taps. Hawthorn have had weak rucks and historically have been able to combat that by basically following the opposition ruckman. Having Jamar did not help us against them. Having said that, are we smart enough to rove to the opposition ? another point, out investment in rucks stocks has not been too bad, with probably Gawn the one we have highest hopes for after Jamar. It's just now the timing is bad, but it was always a distinct possiblity Jamar could get injured and in the very game we did not take a second ruck....hmmmmm.
  3. Rubbish. Yes he is the most progressive financial officer the game has seen by optimising crowd and tv rights through manipulation of the draw. If he was anywhere near your word of 'fairness', teams with less suporters would have equal rights to bigger games on Friday night, Saturday night and playing other big teams. His ability to grow has come out of one thing, to deliberately manipulate the draw for as many block busters as possible so we Melbourne supports absurdly feel grateful when he throws a million our way, whilst denying our right to earn this money ourselves. The AFL is a not for profit operation, so do not confuse company standards of profits and ballance sheets onto what is the AFL. As a company he would have done marvellously well and I would be a happy investor. But the AFL is not. If there ever was a time to instill fairness, now is it with salary caps and drafting rules in place. "Fairness and Equity" - yeah ok see you at the next twighlight game whilst Schwab organises another handout from the AFL/MCC.
  4. Summed up nicley. those saying he just had an ok game go and watch the replay, his kicking was more dangerous than most, like Tapscott his kicking is a weapon. Don't think people realise how handy he could be if he make the grade. he has shown consistency for a while at Casey so reckon he could do so for the Dees. just needs to be at the contest next week, as North always test us there.
  5. You might want to re-watch the game. His game was very good. In the first quarter, he set up the first 2 goals with excellent kicks then hit up Wonna who dropped a sitter soon after. He then proceeded to set us up like that for the rest of the afternoon. 31 possies and 10 inside 50s gets him top 5 easily. His ball use was excellent. has ok pace but may lack the acceleration for forward pocket. I can easily see him becoming another midfielder though. his effort todat was not unlike last week for Casey, he was selecting good options continually. I also don't know why so many supporters say 'good to see he has pulled his finger out' finally and all that. his last few years to me have been pretty honest, he continually runs hard for Casey and racks up decent possesion numbers. He has slowly been getting better. I think he is a natural outside player so needs to commit to contests more, and start laying more tackles, much like Morton. He played a decent games in our Sydney win lasy year and was dropped unfairly i thought. He has had to earn his spot more than just about anyone on the list andI think has not dropped his bundle and worked hard. Get his defensive game up and he could be a good player. if you think otherwise, go watch the first quarter again and ask who was supplying the ball to Petterd, Jurrah and co. If we had a big power forward it would have been an avalanche of goals early.
  6. Hmmmmm interesting interpetation there. Trengove and Morton are both ahead of Sylvia at the same stages of their careers, so do you want to scrap Sylvia as well as he was sh1te early on? Cannot see how we would regret Scully and trengove on what i have seen so far. The football world would have told you Watts would be behind Hurley yet most would have picked Watts first. We start playing well as a team and watch these blokes come up in the rankings. if you were our head of 'respective' recruitment you would have Palmer and Rich as captain and vice captain.
  7. I'd back him also, as long as he can improve his tackling and learn to go when it is his turn. Like Watts he needs to commit to a contest more and not try and corral blokes and play keepings off. If and when he gains weight he could be a very handy player against dangerous talls for the opposition. not many talls can run and kick like Morton so lets not give up on him just yet. I reckon the scape goats should be the ones who continually let us down when we are getting pumped, and unfortuntely Brad Greens name comes up for me.
  8. unfortunately your first mistake is making someone the 'sole' person responsibly for kickouts, yet at the same time try to decrease the time taken to actually kick out. Unless that person positions themselves 20 m out from goal all day, it's impossible. you need multiple kickers and whoever is nearest goes bang. it is however mind boggling how we seem to still have no real urgency in bringing the ball in. it's like some psychological barrier to get a good aggressive kick out happening.
  9. Actually no you are right with your thinking. The last Collingwood game we fought back after a disastrous first qtr again when we were all at sea but they did not bury us on the scoreboard, just like the hawks. This trend is becoming far more entrenched than some people think. We time and again cannot keep up the intensity when the heat is on.
  10. which again highlights the ridiculous mind numbing decision to recruit Fev. Cook and Howe were playing half back last week for goodness sake.
  11. Green down back has already been tried, and he is not as good as a backmen, his goal kicking is better than his field kicking as well. Sylvia down back is not a bad idea, his kicking skills would be useful and he could provide good pressure down back, can spoil well and more disciplined these day. that backline has too many midsized players though, needs more height and more pace. Blease or Nicholson type may be required in the back pocket by the end of the year. Also wonder how morton would go playing defensive Centre half back. did ok on Goodes and could take the athletic talls ok.
  12. North did not look good at all in early games but you would back them in to bounce back before us. they have shown more guts and fight than us for the last 20 years with less money and currently I believe on less talent. It has to come from the players to salvage this. we start doing all the one percenters, blocking, shepherding, sacrificial acts and we can do it. Watching the Casey game I thought Joel MacDonald gig this better than most of the Dees players and reckon he may come in to help.
  13. "Next Sunday, against Adelaide at the MCG, is the biggest game of Bailey's life." Right on the money there. you could almost re-name the thread with that qoute. Lose this badly and it may be called the Mothers Day Massacre that destroyed Bailey.
  14. Reckon Bate a stong chance to replace Dunn. Why would we drop Gysberts for one average game ? also petterd didn't look like he could run out a game properly and played well only in patches. not something we can afford to risk at present. Maric thoroughly deserves another game, he has tried his guts out and today was very good, we need his field kicking skills. I would have In: Bate, Maric Out: Dunn, Wonna Bennell on last chance.
  15. McDonald is someone they will consider as he is playing consistently and at least has a red hot crack. Let's see how blease oes in the next month. we just want him playing well continually before he gets his chance. i als othink Aussie might get dropped for someone like maric.
  16. my god as a weagles hater, that makes me sick. you had a bad night !!
  17. Demetriou asked Stynes 'what do we stand for?' and Stynes accepted that front on statement and took it on the chin. as a club we have done so well but on field I still ask the same question - 'what the hell do we stand for?'. Surely tonight you brace yourself for a grand final when the whole club needed respect? To lose is one thing but at present only Port adelaide are more embarrassing than us.
  18. Mate i reckon the words above just sum me and probably many supporters up at the moment. It's raw and just articulates what we feel. I love this club, it's traditions but I too am just weary after tonight. We just don't face adversity well interstate or wherever. nicely said. I feel like passing this onto the club.
  19. will join in now. just watched the whole game and actually was more disappointed in our 2nd half as the game had lost intensity by then. We still could not make inroads. I thought ok shake off the first half and and play ball tearing nerveless footy with nothing to lose. nope - we were p1ssweak and they knew it as their limited abilities actually started gaining more and more confidence. it was f$cking hard to watch. That was just terrible. but hey like the Daniher era, watch us bounce back at the 'G !!!! sick of it personally.
  20. How did we go over in the west while Wellman was assistant coach recently? love how people can identify a single factor for this loss tonight. I watched us play Adelaide over there last year, with wellman coaching and I was just as, if not more disappointed then the loss tonight against the Weagles. mainly because the crows weren't playing as well as the weagles tonight, and we got thmuped just as badly. try again.
  21. that's exactly what Bailey highlighted for us to address this year and has failed miserably so far. I think I will be almost as disappointed if we outscore them 2nd half and save face, as this really is a DISGRACE. just don't know how long this club can continue to be so pathetic. we only play well when the heat goes out of the game in tough matches. you play the next week like you finished the week before? exact opposite in our case.
  22. we always seem to [censored] ourselves interstate and I don't know why. will probably have to rely on Jurrah again to kick the goals. RESPECT on the line here.
  23. oh great Fev is back in for the big game. great one. Would like to see Tom McDonald keep his spot as surely he deserves it. Buy this is exactly what we get with ridiculous decisions made at Casey to the detriment of developing our talls. and look Howe is named at half back ?? can we get our own team please?. Collingwood and Geelong would be p1ssing themselves laughing. damn pathetic. hope Fev gets found out for fitness and struggles. looks a pretty good side all the same.
