  1. There you go, I thought I was the only one that mutes that idiot. What I find annoying is the "gushing" over the winning team, surely it must pi** off the supporters of all losing teams, not just us. At least if you live in Melbourne there is the chance to tune in on the radio, here in Perth have to put up with the parochial WA call as well
  2. 1. Mitch Clark 2. Mitch Clark 3. Mitch Clark Fully fit is capable of those "how did he do that!" moments, We still dont know if we have a midfielder who can really take control and change the course of a game, but Clark is capable of the spectacular.
  3. Might be time that the AFL got involved in terms of the totally out of control media "opinion" and "speculation". What is being done is totally self serving posturing by so called journalists, nothing is based on fact. The impact of this negative media coverage does not just impact the Dee's bottom line in terms of turning away fans and sponsors, the AFL spends money from "equalisation" supporting Melbourne, the positives from this are quickly lost if we are not earning dollars in our own right, so the AFL is also losing money. What this is doing is damaging to not just the Melbourne football club, but the AFL brand as a whole, once the pack succeeds in destabilising and destroying Melbourne where will they turn their negative attentions next? If it bleeds it leads, bugger the truth, lets use our positions to assassinate the next "bunny" for our own aggrandisement! Shame about the media hype and them trying to put a negative spin on it.
  4. Tough luck, breaking your neck, its a reminder how fragile we are. Looking through the story, I see Darren Bennett listed as a friend of Jordan Bannister, and it seems it is the ex-Demon, WCE and NFL punter. Appears Bennett has had some tough days as well: Former Chargers punter Darren Bennett’s sons. Will Bennett, diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in 2003, coaching brother Thomas Bennett on the intricacies of punting the football. 5. And didn't he get a written apology from the AFL after he complained the ball was too flat, showed the umpire by squeezing the end and the puny armed umpire couldn't squeeze the ball. Then when the Ox complained the maggot paid a free kick against him?
  6. MN: Hmmm, what was that web site again? DM: seek.com.au
  7. 22,376 plus 2 Flying over from Perth, have to see at least one game for 2013 where there is some hope of a win. Really dont like feeling "alone" surrounded by feral Freo or WCE supporters at Subiaco.. Sucks watching your team get pumped and copping it from the morons in the crowd as well, at least at the MCG there is more red and blue to console with.
  8. I agree, finally change, but how long until the structure settles and the team gels? For the last couple of years, with an unchanged list, there has been the typical pre-season hopeful "over estimation" of our abilities, when there had been no changes to the list. These hopes were rapidly deflated once the NAB games started, and completely crushed in the home and away rounds. What I want to see, is not even honorable losses, but quarters or halves where Melbourne dominate play. I have not seen a period of play in years where an emerging player took the game by the scruff of the neck, and consistently threatened to tear a game apart. There were glimpses from Mitch Clark last year of "wow" moments, and next year I will be very, very happy to go into work and here people saying things like "Melbourne lost last night, but did you see Toumpas/Viney/Jones in the second quarter?"
  9. FOX AFL Sunday Pre-Game show, on now. Sheahan having another crack at Melbourne, Matthew Campbell and Lynch joining the line up to stick the boots in. Saying they aren't having a go at the players, laying the blame at the feet of the CEO,coach and board. Saying that if found true, equates to match fixing and those responsible should be excluded from "the industry". Pushing the line that a loss today will be a crisis for the club, and that none of our young players have developed - indicating a problem with culture inside the club
  10. Either McLean is some sort of malicious genius who seeks to wreak havoc on the MFC or Sheahan hooked him nicely. Very clever journalism, lead McLean to say it, so you can raise a sh*tstorm in the media, then stand back and lay the blame with someone else. I understand we are in a dark place as a football club, but this smells of a hidden agenda, we should be asking: who will benefit? Is it driven internally or externally? Is there a push on to change something inside the club, using the media to create a "crisis"? Is there a plan to destabilise and destroy the MFC, perhaps paving the way for relocation or merger? Is there an evil troika consisting Sheahan, McLean and Sheedy plotting revenge!
  11. Agree witht this comment, guys on the ball need fast minds and hands. Look at what on ballers do, they only take a few steps "inside" the contest and need quick reaction time to decide where to go tp get the ball, then where to dispose of the ball (awareness). They only need to be fast enough to get to the next contest. Perhaps rotate Moloney, Couch, Jones and Magner in pairs?
  12. But what has he shown? Any "bright" moments or plays for the highlight reels? I haven't seen anything on TV that has made me go "wow" yet.
  13. Probably a fair call in my opinion on Bruce. Extent of injuries may result in one other inclusion (will Bate come up?). PJ will be omitted. Would they "rest" one of the younger players (Trengrove/Scully) as part of managing their workload?
  14. I suspect that the Bulldogs will go defensive on this game, similar their approach against St Kilda. Defensive pressure and extra men in our forward line will bring indecision and "chipping" around looking for a target. For Melbourne this could look a lot like last week’s game against North. If the Dees bomb it in, we will suffer on the rebound as our players running forward are caught under and behind the ball as it heads back to the Bulldog tall’s like Hall. However the Doggies then have to run hard out of the back half all night. Running can win this game for Melbourne, Brisbane ran the Doggies off their feet, but we have to withstand a couple of quarters of pressure without "losing faith" in midfield run.
  15. A question for those out there withe better memories than mine. What was Nick Riewoldt's early career at the Saints like? Early on he had a light build and ran up the ground, also may have had Fraser Gehrig as the key forward to relive pressure and of course Kosi. Any comparision here?
  16. Important qualifcation: I have limited vision, despite being at the game, anything over about 100m is a problem. These are just my opinions. (1) Lack of work rate/desire Wouldn't say so, the forwards however did not appear to apply any defensive pressure when the ball was turned over. Jurrah especially. The ball came into the forward line in a haphazard way, and to be fair, forwards need clean, predictable ball delivery. Backline, completely out gunned. Pavelich couldn't be matched for mobility, Sandilands went forward for a rest and simply couldn't be out marked. Also some stupid play from Morton, who was reactive to Ballantyne and gave away several frees. Any backmen holding/blocking were pinged almost immediately. (2) Lack of fitness Definitely not, fitness looked OK. (3) A game plan that spread the Melbourne payers away from the play Ah, no. What game plan involves not having the ball? Players transitioning through the middle with the ball often looked up and saw...no targets so went sideways/ backwards then turned the ball over. (4) Melbourne payers not up to standard Definitely. Poor skills, missed targets, no pushing across the ground to present options, not running in support/running to create options. Strength. On ballers were tagged at stoppages, Freo on ballers were able to break off long enough (1/2 seconds) to crumb and release the ball. We appear to lack at least two key on ballers and a strong midfielder. Backline is short, but still unable to match up on smaller forwards like Ballantyne. My apologies if further questions aren't answered, I can't often get online. PS Kids question of the night, why is Russell Robertson black now?
  17. And please take a moment to think about Troy's wife, Trisha, and their families.
  18. The only way is up! Then we can cue that tacky '80's song by Yazz for the ads.
  19. Heard this on 7 News in WA last night, had to rewind and check I heard correctly. Where has Jako been all this time? And I wonder what shape he is in? The other plus was they showed Smithy's mark of the year in Brisbane. My little bloke loved it!
  20. Still remember watching the replay of the Kernahan "attempt" on Jamie Duursma. As they are getting up off the ground Duursma is pointing to his head and you can see him mouthing the words "good one idiot" (or something to that effect).
  21. Agree, perhaps mean't in the context of getting Wonaeamirri and Garland (having missed all year they are effectively "recruits") back plus 3 in the draft.
  22. And injury isn't the only danger, as Sheahan notes "Melbourne needs to protect him........it should eliminate the risk its most high-profile prospect will lose his self-belief in the process". Getting run down too often could lead in confidence issues, getting crunched won't help. Then there are the mind games, like Essendon monstering him Friday night. This guy wasn't drafted to play on a wing or for his evasive skills in the midfield. He is expected to be a marking forward. No point shattering his confidence.
  23. Interesting 45hotgod, I too am blind in my right eye (and therefore a true one eyed Demon supporter). Yours injury or disease?
