David King thinks Eagles will Belt Us.
I recall him only saying that he needs to improve his positioning and not be pushed under so easily. So he was bang on. No one with half a brain said he needed to be dropped as you dont destabilize team structure in a prelim.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
One POV is that if quality nominates you, it's an advantageous occurrence, that is not guaranteed to happen all the time. So you shift the magnets and make a trade happen, even if you don't think it's a critical need. It's still an upgrade for locking down a fwd imo. Trade Frost if need be. HBF/Hunt provides dash, its not an important KPD assett, it's icing.

Electrifying Aboriginal forwards
Maybe wait a week and see if they put up a good performance in the granny, maybe their pressure and forward craft will be as weak as a Jeff garlett unsighted 2018 performance. But if entertaining question. I think port have Jake neade, Karl Amon and wingard available. Richmond have Shai Bolton to trade for?

GAMEDAY - Preliminary Final vs Eagles
They were, but Richmond were also lamentable. All our 'we can beat them' thoughts as dees supporters since that Anzac game victory back in 2016 came home to roost last night. Average clearance midfield that hacks it up in the air. GOt destroyed by a great midfield. 1 tall fwd line style that expired within a year, and an overrated defence with 'the best defender of the decade' who can't play one on one. I think the Eagles would put up a better performance esp with McGovern blocking Cox run, not that we'll let em. Gawn will be there blocking Cox from his aerial threat. Go Dees

GAMEDAY - Preliminary Final vs Eagles
Greece here, I'll watch it on delay after I wake up tomorrow and have breaky (which will be 6 or 7pm melb time) - Just have to not accidentally and catastrophically check the news out of habit. I hate live streams for their penchant to drop out on my slow mobile network and for my inability to fast forward due to nerves.

The Other Preliminary Final
Just finished watching on delay, wowee. A victory for footy imo. Not because of a premier being beaten but because a clean disposing fast running team won. Richmond's kicks were all messy hacks into forward line with 1 tall. They're an avg clearance team at best. I don't want to see that kind of style being a dominant force over the comp. Collingwood provides a much more exciting evolution for the game and for one of two other exciting attacking teams to try and match next week Bad news for us? Sure, if you're insecure about our team. But it emphasizes how much better we have to now play from a 'capitalizing on clean Inside 50s' POV ie not turning it over with their rebound power. With Richmond we can wear them down, with Coll we have to now be more precise. Our mids vs theirs is a salivatingly colosal encounter. Gawn v Grundy (if we make GF)

You left out our acquisition of Andy Brayshaw with that pick 6* perhaps?

Don't forget the question of which defender will take McGovern if he is thrown forward in a last quarter if we're ahead ? From memory TMAC rolled back and took a mark last week but I don't think we can mess with our fwd structure.

Andrew Gaff
Simpson and co backed gaff to develop that side of his game. Goodwin can do the same with one of our players or bring an outside elite runner in and condition them into becoming a high pressure tough nut that can get their own footy.

Perth radio 6PR lighting a fire under the Prelim
They're called a cheer squad? And the dude sporting Woewodins hair style looks to be the prime motivator

OMac has arrived.
A bit rich coming from you. Where's your apology for Jordan Lewis? Haven't heard a peep from that Trainwreck of a thread criticising him all year. ?

David King thinks Eagles will Belt Us.
The people who refuse to find a negative because things are going good appear a little sheepish too. Balls Grinter was one of the only people not emotively blaming the umpires after the game and actually discussing the tactical nature of how Hawthorn played. I agree though that how we handled the situation when things weren't going our way tactically was a step forwards.

Changes v Eagles - Preliminary Final
Who will take McGovern if he goes forward for a last quarter to arrest a 2 goal margin? Edit: Next year I can see the massive benefit of playing Preuss in the ruck as we put Gawn in defence for big patches of quarters as the opposition have momentum.

Has Nicholls ever paid us a free?
I'd be more worried about Ray 'doesnt deserve a nickname' Chamberlain getting the gig on saturday again. At least Nichols pays what he sees. Chamberlain last night seemed to actively avoid calling clear HTB's, like he had some kind of.. agenda

Changes v Eagles - Preliminary Final
His positive/negative ratio out weighs other players on the fringe it seems. Just as an aside, hearing him talk in the media has shown me that he does have a mature head on him, so perhaps that is one element of his continued selection, having a mid who understands his role and where to run and position himself under different circumstances. Whereas other players in vfl are more raw and more likely to have a team crippling critical error ridden match at this stage.

Changes v Eagles - Preliminary Final
How has Hunt been in the vfl to replace Tyson and alternate at hb with fritsch? Hunt may have shown his best over a year ago, but it's far more than Smith has shown in totality. Too big a call? I wonder if Salem will pull up ok this week wasn't he holding a cork on hammy or calf early on?

Bit of credit for Jordan Lewis. Came into the middle often off the square and became a reliable link in each chain. Wanted to see him in there in the big moments all year as i still think he has plenty of fighting spirit to give like in his hawthorn midfield years. Loved his bump on worpell. HE stepped up and contributed when needed. Hope we see him in there next week often with pig and jetts and the rest very steady down back

Eddie shows love for Dees
For all the [censored] the footy show gets from the 'cultured' bogan haters, whenever I've tuned in this year I've been entertained, despite the poor comedic efforts of fevola and Sam and his political grandstanding. It still has its 'footy community' spirit in tact and I think Eddie's enthusiasm goes a long way in building it. Whereas when Ive tuned in to front bar i just feel repelled by the repetitive jokes of mick molloy. The calls to cancel the footy show are ridiculous and have more to do with Sam's senility than anything else. Eddie was great tonight.

I think our defence has gone up a level on that round 22 match too. But yes a massive effort required and a little bit of luck our way and we can match it with them and win. I'm less impressed with their footy IQ than I am with hawthorns, so I don't think they can negate our game style and we'll have a bit of a high quality shootout again.

I thought even too. Pretty bad lack of recognition on this board for a decent negating effort by the Hawks for a good amount of time and executed their skillful possession game well. Took away our strengths and had their chances to make it tight. We obviously are a class above in pressure and took our chances. But no, UmPiReS TrIed tO WiN tHe GaMe foR thE HaWkS
