  1. Don't forget the question of which defender will take McGovern if he is thrown forward in a last quarter if we're ahead ? From memory TMAC rolled back and took a mark last week but I don't think we can mess with our fwd structure.

Simpson and co backed gaff to develop that side of his game. Goodwin can do the same with one of our players or bring an outside elite runner in and condition them into becoming a high pressure tough nut that can get their own footy.
  3. Tiger bandwagonner!
  4. They're called a cheer squad? And the dude sporting Woewodins hair style looks to be the prime motivator
  5. A bit rich coming from you. Where's your apology for Jordan Lewis? Haven't heard a peep from that Trainwreck of a thread criticising him all year. ?
  6. The people who refuse to find a negative because things are going good appear a little sheepish too. Balls Grinter was one of the only people not emotively blaming the umpires after the game and actually discussing the tactical nature of how Hawthorn played. I agree though that how we handled the situation when things weren't going our way tactically was a step forwards.
  7. Who will take McGovern if he goes forward for a last quarter to arrest a 2 goal margin? Edit: Next year I can see the massive benefit of playing Preuss in the ruck as we put Gawn in defence for big patches of quarters as the opposition have momentum.
  8. I'd be more worried about Ray 'doesnt deserve a nickname' Chamberlain getting the gig on saturday again. At least Nichols pays what he sees. Chamberlain last night seemed to actively avoid calling clear HTB's, like he had some kind of.. agenda
  9. His positive/negative ratio out weighs other players on the fringe it seems. Just as an aside, hearing him talk in the media has shown me that he does have a mature head on him, so perhaps that is one element of his continued selection, having a mid who understands his role and where to run and position himself under different circumstances. Whereas other players in vfl are more raw and more likely to have a team crippling critical error ridden match at this stage.
  10. The Frawley turnover was one of my game highlights. I wonder if he'll jump ship again.
  11. How has Hunt been in the vfl to replace Tyson and alternate at hb with fritsch? Hunt may have shown his best over a year ago, but it's far more than Smith has shown in totality. Too big a call? I wonder if Salem will pull up ok this week wasn't he holding a cork on hammy or calf early on?
  12. Bit of credit for Jordan Lewis. Came into the middle often off the square and became a reliable link in each chain. Wanted to see him in there in the big moments all year as i still think he has plenty of fighting spirit to give like in his hawthorn midfield years. Loved his bump on worpell. HE stepped up and contributed when needed. Hope we see him in there next week often with pig and jetts and the rest very steady down back
  13. For all the [censored] the footy show gets from the 'cultured' bogan haters, whenever I've tuned in this year I've been entertained, despite the poor comedic efforts of fevola and Sam and his political grandstanding. It still has its 'footy community' spirit in tact and I think Eddie's enthusiasm goes a long way in building it. Whereas when Ive tuned in to front bar i just feel repelled by the repetitive jokes of mick molloy. The calls to cancel the footy show are ridiculous and have more to do with Sam's senility than anything else. Eddie was great tonight.
  14. I think our defence has gone up a level on that round 22 match too. But yes a massive effort required and a little bit of luck our way and we can match it with them and win. I'm less impressed with their footy IQ than I am with hawthorns, so I don't think they can negate our game style and we'll have a bit of a high quality shootout again.
  15. I thought even too. Pretty bad lack of recognition on this board for a decent negating effort by the Hawks for a good amount of time and executed their skillful possession game well. Took away our strengths and had their chances to make it tight. We obviously are a class above in pressure and took our chances. But no, UmPiReS TrIed tO WiN tHe GaMe foR thE HaWkS

Hawthorn were a different team in the second half of the year as they got on a big winning streak too. Can't count them out merely because we're a different team and weather won't be wet. Expecting a big fight tonight to win

Still a little concerned tonight as I think our meeting earlier this year wouldve occured even with the 7 or so players now in. They got us on the spread as we overcommitted to the ball. And we probably still will play the same way. If it's a close game, then the Hawks simply don't lose them. Either way I'm not expecting any one result and will be pleased with the year in it's totality. Will of course be stressed tonight, but I think a weight has been lifted since last week. Apologies for not being manic with premiership fever!

i know i should be quiet a little here and stop labouring on, but just an additional point that 6/6/6 next year will make it even more important to have someone that can run a pace ahead of others, or keep up with your gaff types

Rohan doesnt need to improve, his best has shown to be good enough in a Sydney team that has regularly made finals - he just needs to get on the park. I can see the reasoning for backing our current developing players and going into the draft. i just dont see how pointing to his stats somehow invalidates his worth given he's a starter when fit for Sydney. High impact player with fewer disposals. Im not going to die on the recruit gary rohan hill, but this board wants ready made outside pace now and not in 2-3 years, and like adam saad with his flaky contested stats, an oppurtunity to acquire the services of outside pace has presented itself - but everyone seems to not want anyone that isnt elite like gaff, who's eliteness means we've been outbidded on. Its only realistic to expect an immediate role player with a sporadic ability to impact a game (when fit) at that cost.

A late pick is such a big thing to part with? How is p60ish/ d johnstone doing? Or mitch king, Billy Stretch, P mckenna by comparison? Meanwhile a similar player of Rohans ilk in lewis jetta who has impacted a GF pops up with a critical play and goal in the last to seperate the two teams, if they win a premiership, his trade would have payed off with that one play - im sure the same Rohan commentary would be there with Jetta too. Not such a big issue to back the FD on a project player whos shown an ability to have an impact on a game with their burst of speed at AFL level

Me too. But im thinking he's more of your wing that replaces JKH or Tyson on form while in team, pushes Jones into defence. Or covers for HF/wing for form drops or injury to our 22 next year.. and is replaced by our depth while invariably injured for hopefully only 5ish games. Maybe with concussion issues we can follow the Gus rehab model. If geelong then no big deal, he's your cream on cake type player, dont think geelong need him or theyre fooling themselves. Edit: if Rohan recaptured his best form it would be a massive win for pick 50ish or a JKH

http://m.sydneyswans.com.au/news/2018-09-12/hannebery-and-rohan-open-to-trade Would be a worthwhile gamble with a mid-late pick or player trade i reckon.
  24. He's a good looking fella isnt he? I hope he hasnt retained those boyish good looks by keeping his nose out of the incoming impact of a contest... like someone we know. Are there any draftees with squashed noses in the viney/selwood/wines mould?
