  1. I mean historically they're similar club to Melbourne. All we have over them is one grand final appearance, and they have their last premierships 10 years later than ours. Just seems like the league goes around in circles, bagging the unsuccessful clubs over and over. Edit: Low table poppy syndrome. SImilar thing happening to the Kangas now that they've lost 6 our of 7 games or whatever it is and the last two prelims. A historically unsuccessful club makes a strong effort at some success, doesn't get any over 3 years and falls away and we all laugh at them when they fall away.
  2. Such a circlejerk around bagging richmond. They're the most similar club in the AFL to Melbourne. They're Melbourne with more members.
  3. Geelong in 14 did a similar thing. Won every close game, was like 3rd on the ladder despite play mid-table quality football all year. Got rolled in straight sets.
  4. They'll towel up our defence and their third man up will mark the ball whenever we bomb it long. It would be amazing to knock them off, and so soul crushing for the home crowd, but realistically they'll be playing for a home final vs adelaide and will probably win. I haven't given up, but at least take some solace in this being a saturday game after adelaide have played and they will most likely have to beat us by a certain margin to get a home final v Adelaide. They might have to beat us by anywhere between 20 and 60 points. If a loss is likely, let's hope our boys play to the final siren knowing they can send the Cats to an away final v adelaide or even sydney or gws and an extremely unlikely tilt at a premiership. This is according to my ladder predictor and the standard predictions. (Go crows!)
  5. Goodwin, Melksham, Hurley and Hibberd, Wagner, Frost & Jetta Cmon you Melbourne ReboundBombers, it's the last lap of the race, bring it home.
  6. It was the first time Max Gawn absolutely dominated. One of the most dominant performances from one player on a team across the league all year. Bernie Vince also had one of his best performances from memory. It was the style of win. We didn't scrape over the line and win by a point. We beat them all day and ran training drills around them.
  7. He's improved this year. Stayed on topic, hasn't made too many big bonar brown name changes or poofter gaffes. As for Ling or captain obvious. How about they keep him on the boundary and turn his mic on for 20 seconds every 10 or so minutes.
  8. I thought the only drawback to Hurley was his age, but he's still very young. All Australian CHB already. Granted he's had 2 years more experience but irrespective, he's AA. TMac was in AA form until he was toweled up by Cloke, then he was toweled up many times after that. From AA form to Casey form. He's picked things up and gotten more consistency and has potential, but he's nowhere near as good as Hurley was with his consistent form over 2 or 3 years.
  9. Lots of meth up there too. I think we're noticing a pattern here..
  10. DAE Roos is playing a side based on 'future' idealism rather than form? I wonder if it's cost us 3 games this year.
  11. Has Todd Viney been called as an expert witness?
  12. Jacko illustrating why retro round is confined to one week of the year and not 25. People think he made some good points because the common narrative is to bag out the afl instead of showing gratitude. We have a thriving 18 club competition model that lifts up the poorest and keeps them from folding that has eliminated thuggery and developed a social conscience. The complexity of Equalisation aside, its about time people showed some appreciation to the AFL instead of acting like they're the big enemy. To simplify, It reminds me of how everyone hated high school, and yet high school is responsible for socialising you and helping you develop into further studies and employment. The AFL is responsible for taking the game national and creating a sustainable and thriving business model. It's responsible for people like Peter Jackson and Paul Roos being delivered to us. The VFL is still there for all the people like Jacko that want the "purist" form of footy, though you might have to start a brawl in the outer if you want to get the closest form. Good riddance to people like him and as Gerard said on 360: I lasted about 8 minutes and decided I had something better to do than watch this.
  13. Cross played the first eight games of 2013 before being dropped from the senior side,[9] where he played for the Bulldogs reserves side,Williamstown, before earning a recall in round 19 against Sydney. In the week leading to the final round clash with Melbourne, it was announced the Bulldogs would not renew Cross' contract, ending his 11-year playing career with the club,[10]
  14. I thought we were the most accurate team in the comp?
  15. I'm inclined to think we're trading like for like on this matter. Vickery and Houli have more currency across the AFL than Dawes, Garland and Trengove which shows you it's not a step backwards. They're not getting what they want out of their players and we're not getting what we want out of ours. Considering our players have no real currency than it would be advantageous to swap them for some players to see if our club CLICKS with Vickery and Houli's style of play and if our players work for them. How are we losing anything or taking a step backwards? Vickery isn't going to infect our club if he tries his [censored] act, i think we will clean him up if anything and Houli's run out of defence and leadership attributes would be beneficial for the club I think. He had a great season last year. If Garland fits into what they want, maybe something can be done in terms of his contract with Melbourne in the next 2 years. And as for Dawes the 500k man? He'd be better served over at Richmond as he is the only player that might have currency with them and Trengove they showed interest, so perhaps we could have an instant KPF/Ruck for a few years, it would be way more valuable that what Dawes is contributing right now. There are a few positions in my opinion that are available after this years draft. We should be delisting more than previous years and so it will be an opportunity to try out another clubs discards and the other club trying out ours. I didn't see Hawthorn leaving a spot empty or draft a young kid in their list instead of taking Jack Fitzpatrick
  16. Bachar Houli hasn't re-signed. Interested? Garland + Dawes for Houli and Vickory? I'd take it in a heart beat, even throw in a late draft pick sweetener. Though maybe they're still interested in Trengove as he's now passed the foot examination and would be interested in him for Houli ? Anyway, they'll need salary cap space if they're to fit in the big fish they're trying to land. Dawes + Garland for Vickery Trengove for Houli
  17. He could probably teach Bernie a thing or two about getting decent purchase on a strike to the head
  18. Why don't we again look to recruiting a 28-30 year old player like a Josh Gibson or a midfielder like Matt Rosa last year that went from WCE to GCS and giving them their last few years at our club, as an on-field leader that can help out with these qualities of composure we're lacking, But also giving us a bit more depth. It's hardly going to stretch the budget and to be quite honest, this argument that they'd be taking up a spot is not valid, i think there is one spot or player that doesn't need to be there additionally with who we delist at the end of the year. Lamumba has been sorely missing but i'm not sure he ever had enough maturity in the first place. For all the criticism i had of james kelly being shielded by a great geelong team, he's done well for Essendon this year and would have provided a year of value this year if we'd drafted him. An older mature player that have been in a successful finals team or a premiership team would probably be a very wise investment to stabilise our youth.
  19. Yeah, a Bruce, Yze & Neitz Hawthorn re-education
  20. As funny as that sounds, the Hogan paranoia thread is that way-----> Back to Unsigned TMAC. It's not unrealistic to assume that Hawthorn will make a play for him as he's every bit as good a defender as Carlisle. Any word out there?
  21. Posed this Q in another thread, but: What if Hawthorn will make a big offer for him just like they did with Carlisle? What if Gibson is retiring at the end of the year and TMAC is holding out on re-signing for this reason. Who would we want from a Hawthorn trade? Equalization Woo.
  22. I reckon Hawthorn would go after TMAC if Gibson retired. Tmac + Frawley = super defence. They'll probably swoop in with an offer at the end of the year. Would not surprise me in the least, probably why he hasn't re-signed. They went after Carlisle after all...
  23. Should we be looking to reclaim one of our ex-players for our coaching staff to bring in some INTEL from the MelbourneHawks or are we just focussing on ex-essendon personnel? Adem? David? Cameron?
