  1. Ideally Hogan plays an Adel-Tom Lynch type of roaming HF. He was doing it in the first half of the year, i'm confused as to why he hasn't been doing it in the second half? Foot injury would explain why it seems
  2. Interesting stat about 4 goals in 5 games against top 8 teams. Not averse to exploring the Dylan Shiel idea more. Absolute gun. But he seems like captain material though so I think he'll stay.
  3. @Rod Grinter Riot Squad Still with me on the idealism despite all evidence to the contrary? We beat WCE. Port d Coll GWS d Syd Syd d Haw GWS locked in 3rd with Coll/Haw falling out of the 4 Melb d Greater Resting Giants It will require us again tip teams who are on our hammer and could knock us out of the 8 if we lose to WCE. Apologies to @SaberFang for more naive idealism!

Well I reckon your parents deserve a premiership drought, perhaps grandparents have deserved all of those premierships though? Hawthorn were the least successful VFL club for their first 45 years. No finals from 1925 to 1957 I believe? Suffering repayed. I'd like some repayments on my 30 years of nothin'

Maybe you're reaping the karma for having bandwagon parents? I know my dad became a Melbourne fan as a youngster because they were successful and it was an easy choice in the late 50's and 60's. My grandparents barracked for other clubs.
  6. Collingwood were the only winners in that 3-way with Varcoe still playing. So with that in mind, maybe we should request one of their high draft pick young indigenous players. Nakia Cockatoo perhaps.

Let go at seasons end, perhaps we could bring him in and attain some of that Clarko IP?
  8. It's a fascinating conundrum for them. If we beat WCE, then a win over GWS would put us in 5th. 4th if Collingwood and Hawthorn lose 1 of their matches. Port or Freo, Stk or Sydney. If super lucky, then GWS may even be locked in 3rd pre-game. There is hope afterall. This week is a massive game and it's quite funny now that we're away from the G, that there is a faint hope. I feel like a junkie wanting one more hit..
  9. The definition of insanity would be staking your emotions on how a bunch of 18-25 year olds perform at their workplace ?
  10. Bartell highlighted some of our lazy man marking on access all areas, said Clarko and others have toned down the zone to be more accountable one on one, and we're using our zone defence as an excuse to be lazy and not hold players to account
  11. Uh oh
  12. McVeigh was more gettable last year. if Sydney are foolish enough to not offer him a contract this year he'd be a decent experienced head in defence. He's been in great form this year.
  13. First game at the new MCG dimensioned stadium isn't it? One more thing going against us, not that we have anyone but ourselves to blame/

Luckily we're not playing them at the G
  15. Goody - The long and winding road
  16. He's a smart footballer is Buddy
  17. Geez just looking at the lineups, we really need a good game from our half forwards in Pedo/VDB. Rampe and McVeigh are smart and dangerous rebounding players. We look exploitable in that area.
  18. mistaken post.
  19. It's not the containing im worried about, it's the run out of defence and turnover that ends up coming straight back over his head! ?
  20. Had a dream midweek that we were down 44-1. I'm a tad nervous about how we start this game.
  21. Not as loudly as you realists blaming us for putting the mozz on it hehe
  22. The Realists must be happy with that GWS win and Adelaide being ruled out of contention. We don't want to slip lower than 9th
  23. The only fiddling you should be doing right now is with the ladder predictor. If Port had beaten WCE, then a win over SYD & WCE next week would have us 2nd with the win over GWS in r23 . No need for a Brisbane win.
  24. Some of us remember winning 7/8 in 2000 and moving all the way up to 3rd as Geelong and the Kangas fell below us and that amazing feeling of everything going right at the right time. That's why I always have my eyes firmly planted on a highest ladder position possible and am gunning for 3 wins. More so in this case, because we wouldn't have to rely on any other result once Port beat WCE. 2nd was ours with 3 wins. I don't work for MFC so getting ahead of myself has no repercussions.
  25. I wonder, if we'll have the guts to throw Tom MacDonald back in defence for a quarter if we have a solid lead in the last, like the Eagles had the guts to throw McGovern forward for a quarter.
