  1. Well yeah thats the modus operandi, but i do think there is an underlying bias towards wanting big fan base vic clubs v interstate clubs contending every year. For a team thats already a contender (without the player theyre trading) to get two top 10 picks, well it might be unpalletable for media commentators who are fans of a few of these clubs. As the poster said above, i just get the feeling they're trying to shape the narrative and soften us up for the "briLliaNt TraDe IdEa" theyve (McCLure) come up with Bit of an illumaniti hot take, but so be it.
  2. One fella said it earlier on forum, theyre subconsciously trying to shape the narrative and keep a smaller vic club and prelim team from getting two 1st round picks and becoming a force.
  3. Im no psychologist, but maybe jesse would thrive more under a grumpy dad figure that makes instructions simple, stubbornly rigid and authoritarian. Perhaps Goody is more of your younger big brother entrepreneurial leader with a more innovative and player-entrusting ethos that probably didnt resonate well enough for him or provide enough scaffolding to stay interstate after his unfortunate personal circumstances. i could be wrong though
  4. Hilariously a big WA paper has conveniently referenced an obscure data analytic footy website (HPN) to evaluate Hogan as pick 8-10 https://thewest.com.au/sport/afl-trades/afl-trades-2018-what-is-jesse-hogan-actually-worth-ng-b88979434z Although saying that wont get done is accurate. They've suggested the likelihood is: "If Melbourne are stuck on receiving two first-rounders, the other option would be for the Dockers to trade a future pick and bank on improving or perhaps swap an early pick this year for two late first-rounders, staying in the draft and satisfying the Dees at the same time."
  5. Are we all pretending this wasnt a trade based on nothing more than GCS needing players who want to be there? Im all for demanding more than pick 4, but the inflated value of Weller shouldnt be the new value guide for the AFL because Nek minnit gcs want more than pick 5 for May
  6. I wouldve asked for Taberner, but i think Preuss negates the need for a third forward. I think Brayshaw would be a fantastic get, i believe disposal out of defence is the bigger determiner of spread and speed on the wing, and our small forwards can provide up ground coverage. May, Omac, Lever, Hibb, Salem, KK. We would be elite. So we could then have a player of Brayshaws & Fritsch class and footy iq on the wing, with a small time in middle for development We would obviously have to give back a pick i think. 2nd round ?
  7. Which player fits our club and is a realistic possibility?
  8. Mahoney said its may or hogan cap space wise. How on earth can we have Hogan, May & Gaff in the same team?
  9. Media wankers doing their best to tell us we're better with May than with Hogan r1, therefore a straight swap. I dont think i can listen to this [censored] for two weeks. Club's fans know that these commentators dont have any specialized knowledge on their individual clubs, and really only have a broad view. Whats the point of listening and rolling my eyes!
  10. Suffer in your jocks Lloydy
  11. This reasoning is a bit black and white. Does that mean a top clubs delistees are all relist-able? The SOS rule.
  12. Fair enough. And ill rightly cop criticism for the harshness of my post But let me just surmise that maybe Gaff is not the type of person that will thrive with the weight of $1.1m/yr expectations on his shoulders all the while adapting to a new environment. That might be a factor in him being indecisive currently. Time to let this one play out, happy to be wrong.
  13. Ablett was the malicious one there with the push. Funny how the "greatest" players sulk when they lose a contest fairly like buddy on davis this year.
  14. "Told to stay away" Interesting turn of phrase. Something feels off about this whole Gaff scenario. I know he's going through a lot, but to be completely shattered as your teammates win a premiership seemed pretty self absorbed. Couldnt put the chin up and put on a smile and be happy for teammates like nic nat? I know im playing the DL cliche of disliking those who turn us down, but Gaff has seemed like a very odd and brittle indecisive person this past week.
  15. It doesnt even serve the club to talk him down though. Maybe if we let these false observations fester, a nuffie like Sticks Kernahan will pressure his list manager to pick him up with a high pick. One can dream..
  16. My source says Hogan cant make his mind up, so has agreed to a joint custody arrangment for 5 years. Round 1-14 at Freo for 400K. Round 15-GF at Melbourne for 500k
  17. Maybe we can recruit Steele Sidebottom then for a late pick!
  18. Do we tell Gaff to bugger off as Jesse's cap space is unavailable for 1 more year too?
  19. I mean, with the pick 50'ish we get with Kent. If list space available and we have not recruited any small forwards
  20. I wonder if we can get Lonie with pick 50ish, or a swap. Seems out of favour with Richo but showed glimpses of his scintillating crumbing when played.
  21. I can see freo fans using this to argue unders on Jesse, like the dolts last year who thought it justified us paying unders for (or not recruiting) Lever
  22. Sounded more like a cacophony of grunts
  23. Not playing at bad team automatically means you're no good? How simplistic. clubs make mistakes all the time in preferencing too much youth or too much age with decent players getting squeezed out. Look above for reasons. Great clubman, ready to go player that adds depth (more ready than a late pick). We're in the window to add little pieces that give us some options to play with. Comes far cheaper than mayne. In the event of our club using cap space on two elite recruits and losing players to other clubs, we may need one or two patchwork players on 2 year contracts. If barlow dominates at casey then he's in with or ahead of hunt, jkh, wagner, stretch in getting an opportunity in seniors isnt he?
  24. Mayne was one of Collingwoods best on GF day. Bit of redemption for the [censored] he'd got from afl world.
