2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
I think you find we'll be trying to use pick 15 as part of a package we'll put together to get Gold Coast pick 5.

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
O'Sullivan's isn't dropping out to a late first rounder.. He'll either go just inside top 10 or outside of that.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
It was Goody idea all along. Goody invited Max to his house without much explanation. Max rocks up to Goodys house, walks into the loungeroom and there was Brodie Grundy sitting alongside Alan Richardson and Tim Lamb there to the surprise of Gawn. That's where Goody put the idea to both Grundy and Max potentially playing together in which Gawn was sold with the idea straight away.

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Glad you asked this. Played forward and ruck as a young teen. If you want my honest opinion, I think he can just as good as a forward as he can as a defender. His game IQ and smarts is very high for a kid of his age. Reads the game extremely well and his contested marking and ability to catch the ball at his highest point is why recruiters think that he'll go inside top 10. His work rate on top of that is pretty impressive also. Some clubs don't see him purely as a defender and there's a thought that clubs could use a pick on him purely because there's more upside with his forward craft then defender.

Kozzie stage-fright?Â
If you go to the finals week before against Sydney, he was actually non existent. He's still young, but when maybe I've got too much expectations thinking back to someone like Cyril Rioli who I compare him too, and he just use to stand up in big games especially come September. When we're all looking for that someone to just to take the game of the scruff it shouldn't be left up to the usuals of Gawn Oliver and Petracca, but someone like Pickett to really stamp his mark in big games. I'm seeing it with Trent Rivers now.

Kozzie stage-fright?Â
I think what you're trying to say is that does he stand up in big games? I love Pickett and the excitement he brings to supporters especially younger generation coming through. He's Jeff Farmer to me when I was s young tacker starting out as a Melbourne supporter. But yes, I have noticed it's a growing pattern for me that in the big games where it's the heat of the moment he tends to go missing. In fairness to Pickett though I still think sometimes he's not coached to his strengths. I'm sometimes tearing my hair out when we're either under the pump or getting beaten around stoppage, for Goodwin to at least throw Pickett in the midfield to provide a spark. Not only that, it gets him into the game a bit more. His ball use and ability to slip in and out of congestion with speed and use his vision to hit up a teammate is very impressive. Lately he's attending first centre bounce and then we hardly see him in there again. Would like a journo to bring this up in the next presser around using Pickett more in the midfield.

POSTGAME: Rd 23 vs Hawthorn
I think you and a few other are underestimating the Hawks. They've beaten Brisbane and Collingwood and given a few teams in the top half a run for the money. Whilst they had the likes of Lewis and Newcombe out, we also had Fritsch and Petty who pretty much make up our forward line. I think more positives out of this game the negatives purely because Petracca, Oliver, Pickett all were well held yet we still found a way to win. My honest opinion? I think we are well placed far better then 2022 and I can certainly see us going all the way to a preliminary final, even a grand final.

POSTGAME: Rd 23 vs Hawthorn
We've got a good system in place. We're good at grinding teams and then breaking away when we can because teams can't keep up. I was nervous like all supporters, but I knew if we could just clean up our skill level we would eventually break away which we did. Good hard fought win and plenty of positives to take away from.
