Farewell Brodie Grundy
Well realistically you're not dropping anyone out while Gawn is rucking. But, he's a big solid lad who's got a decent leap on him. He'll benefit having a full pre season under his belt and I wouldn't be surprised if he breaks through for a couple of games next year purely because we'll either give Gawn a chop out of rest him if need. The fact that he's performed well against some pretty seasoned ruckman in the VFL comp will only hold him good stead going into next year. He's also got a pretty good mentor..

The Grundy forward experiment was a mistake by Goodwin. I got a feeling from his press conference upon reflection he knew it was a selection blunder. Getting Fritsch back will help enormously. You're getting your 2-3 goals per game off him so that will be a welcome return. We do need a bigger body next to JVR. Do we bite the bullet with McDonald even though he was underwhelming today.

Pretty dour performance. Schache and McDonald were non existent. Tommo up forward? You know what, I'd be willing to give it a decent shot. Was drafted as a elite running CHF from his junior days. His tank and work ethic could come handy in blowing up defenders and he's fit and ready to go. Big bodied player who could be a handy foil for JVR.

People were saying the exact same thing with Judd McVee, me including. A full pre season can do wonders for anyone.

He's playing in a year where he's had to recover from significant injury and no fitness base. He's doing just fine.

James Harmes is completely bereft of confidence. Everything he touches just turns to absolute crud. Spargo has gotten better after starting poorly.

I'm watching Will Varrell today and previous games and I have absolutely no doubt he'll play senior footy next year.

All eyes will be on Tmac. Let's not forget Schache was named emergency. Just shows he's certainly in some contention if he plays well. Goodwin did not sound all that confident that Grundy will be locked in moving forward. Played a pretty straight bat, but I think we all know Goodwin well enough to think that he knows deep down that Grundy forward experiment didn't work and we'll have to readjust.- PREGAME: Rd 23 vs Hawthorn

Right, so we're currently sitting 14-7 and sitting 3rd. The last team to be in this exact position to go on and win a flag was Richmond in 2017. Their form heading into finals is eerily similar to ours right at this point. Richmond won 4 in a row, came up against top 4 team in Geelong in round 21 and lost by 14 points at the MCG. They then won the last two remaining games of the season and went on to have a great finals series which lead to a flag. My point, I don't think this loss against the blues sets us back one bit. I see it as a positive that we can now tinker some changes and it keeps players on edge. Win the remaining two games and then why not us??? - CASEY: Rd 21 vs Carlton VFL
