It will be an interesting podcast this week. I went to the GWS game and was excited by what I saw. I know we lost but it was an awesome game to watch. Like everyone very disappointed by our losses but I’ve learnt a long time ago …win or lose I don’t listen or read any media re MFC anymore & I only listen to Goodwin & the player who does the aftermatch interview. We seem to have forgotten that we’re watching a game of football ..the amount of scrutiny..analysis..dissection of a game is beyond ridiculous. Haven’t even listened to Demonland because it’s become quite depressing. I listened to a little of the Bombers podcast because Binman you are often the voice of reason but I’m disappointed that you seemed to have gone away from your adage of “listen to Goody”’. He has consistently said ..”we’re implementing a new game plan..we’re very confident we can do it..there will be hiccups along the way but in footy ThINGS CAN CHANGE QUICKLY “. We now have a healthier injury list (so we can drop players for form as we have some depth now). Senior players are regaining some form .. I don’t expect to win every game but I can definitely see the future. Goodwin took 7 years to build a gameplan around the players we had to get the ultimate success. He’s doing a new gameplan based around our young exciting players & it def won’t take 7 years. Goodwin deserves our respect.

To me the reality is we are learning a new game plan ..it’s starting to show fruition but there will be hiccups along the way. He’s not implementing a game plan for Clarry ..Trac etc. Goody’s implementing a game plan around the raft of young talent that will be taking this team forward. The likes of our older brigade is to help build and support them and I think that will be exiting for them. Viney has been absolutely pilloried by posters here and yesterday he was exceptional. Looking at all teams this year ..I have no idea who will be no 1 at the end of it. There’s a new “media” darling every week..so I’m confident we’re heading in the right direction. That win yesterday & even the 3 point loss to GWS was exciting football. Many of our wins the last couple of years were just very boring & uninspiring

Very true. What Geelong & Collingwood to a certain extent) have is a large core of very experienced players with probably 10 years or so playing together. Their systems and continuity of same team mates will take them a long way but (in my opinion) I don’t think they’ll win the big dance. Now we have more players available we need to get them playing together to build that …raw talent is there

Did yesterday’s result make you see what I see 🤨

Character of players ..that’s a laugh. With what will eventually come out of this club…it will make whatever has happened at our club pale into insignificance. Hopefully it then highlights other indiscretions I.e. Stengle etc

What gets me excited is that we have realised we need a new game plan and we need to evolve. We have recruited new players to help push this & to support the players that are still part of our future. It took us 7 years to get success but I feel it will not be so long to be contending again. Unfortunately our supporters don’t seem to have the patience to ride it out.

Honestly ..I haven’t bothered coming on to the forum for awhile ( I become more depressed) & when you read posts like yours I have to seriously wonder if you actually support the club ? Don’t use language which you may think is clever ., we support a club .. not going well at the moment .. it’s not that hard. Football is not a reality tv show .. it’s just a game. I hate that we “turn on our own”. Bottom line ..we are all disappointed in different ways.

A passionate journalist ..how quickly people forget the reason he was sacked from Fox Footy. His misogynistic comments caused a lot of hurt but too often in society we are all about the “second chance” and forget about the victim .

I don’t agree we have instability now ..2 games in ..wow Premierships don’t just come ..you only have to look at present day history to see proof of that. GWS springs to mind with a list full of top end talent for years Scott took over a Premiership team ..he can thank Bomber Thompson for his first premiership & I’m still shaking my head at the Pies premiership … It’s not us loving Goody it’s the players who love Goody more importantly & as for selecting Billing’s..maybe just look at who’s out injured/suspended ..our list is a bit thin at the moment & surely you can’t object to Turner..Howes & Woey getting a spell ?

You know when you read the amount of players not playing for personal reasons ..maybe we need to understand the relentless world of media ..trolling ..out of control supporters who pile on all the negative things coaches/players do because lets face it …people seem to like that. It’s really just a game ..we support a club ..we suffer disappointments & we get enjoyment. I get constructive criticism but re Goodwin .. we have a coach that took us to a Premiership..like him/or dislike him ..he is coaching us this year. I don’t want to go back to the instability we had as a club sacking coaches etc. We are 2 games into the season ..let’s see how it plays out..

Maybe with Kozzie ..point of difference was Toby & Kozzie would have done exactly what he did what the best small forwards do & we didn’t have him. I’m pretty sure Cadman only kicked 2 so it wasn’t on our forward line.

An extremely negative view of our forward line . Firstly we kicked the exact number of goals that GWS did …it was not a day for key forwards ..JVR completely negated Sam Taylor who was close to best on against Collingwood & even if they had Briggs & Hogan playing ..put in Kozzie & McVee & that game was ours. Those negative supporters take a deep breath..if someone had said to you ..your team is going in with a 1/4 of first gamers (2 ex VFL who didn’t do a full preseason with us ) May a late withdrawal & then you’re going up against one of the flag favourites who have already played a game ..I bet you wouldn’t think we would lose the game in the last minute. A bit of credit please …

I’d usually agree but I think for us the loss of a small forward & defender which are areas we don’t have great depth in were huge outs against GWS who have a dearth of small forwards. Yesterday wasn’t a day for tall forwards .
