NON-MFC: Round 02
They won so many games by single digits last year. Where does their improvement come from this season ..old players get older & with such a close competition you only have to be a 1% off & you lose. They are def more than a 1% off. For all those posters that moan about Goodieās press conferencesā¦do yourself a favour & listen to āthe Priestā⦠at the moment. Not really sure how to describe them š¤

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs Western Bulldogs
It is was pretty loud which was great but I was also at the Collingwood match & the level of noise (especially in the early part of the game) is at a whole new level. You can see how the umps get sucked in . I believe that even though the Swans absolutely crushed them ..Iām pretty sure the Pies won the free kick count .

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs Western Bulldogs
Well said ā¦(even though it will fall on deaf ears) today at the G was like watching a game from dare I say it..2021. Often with our wins over the last couple of seasons they werenāt satisfying or exhilarating..today was. As our new game plan becomes more entrenched & connections are built with new players in new positionsā¦we will play better. There will be hiccups along the way but I loved what I saw. I was so proud of our supporters who gave Clarry a standing ovationā¦weāre back in the 8 !!

PREGAME: Opening Round vs Sydney
Fantasy ..get offered a free flight to Syd to stay with family member. No ticket to game but go along to the open session to see players. Find out can get reciprocal rights with MCC membership but have to queue from 5pm & hope for the best . Half an hour ago get call from a players parents who canāt make the game and want to know if a ticket is required. Reality.. will now be sitting with the players families tomorrow night. How envious am I but super excited for another Dees supporter to be there

PREGAME: Opening Round vs Sydney
I was out last night & one of the speakers was Brad Scott. Of course the first question Caro asks him was about culture at clubs & cited MFC & all our āoff field dramasā. He answered it very well saying culture is literally a day by day thing. You work on it every day ..he has some extremely talented players who donāt necessarily embody the right ācultureā so they have to work on it. He then said he would never criticise Melb & he heard Max Gawn (who he said is an icon incredibly talented..exceptional etc) & Max said āMelb has a great culture (paraphrasing). He then left it at that. That kept Caro quiet. The other point he made very clearly is that unless you are inside the club no one has really any idea what is happening. So my long winded point is ..we have to trust everybody around Clarry to make the right decisions. We simply donāt know all the facts & that is fine by me.

This post deserves a comment . Absolutely fantastic you have articulated it so well . Whether we play good ..bad or just plain ugly ..it is OUR team & I LOVE it !

Matthew Lloyd Worried About the Dees in 2024
So I guess youāll only be convinced if we finish top at the end of the season & then go onto win the flag š¤

Petracca: "When the pressure mounted... we crumbled"
Think youāve taken that remark out of context. I read it as ..yes we didnāt win but there is always next year ..meaning we get another opportunity..itās not like we lost & thereās no tomorrow. I also gleaned from that podcast that yes.. the players absolutely know what is being said about the team & thankfully have a far more positive attitude than a lot of our posters .

Welcome to Demonland: Caleb Windsor
Absolutely agree. Thereās a great podcast ..Dyl & friends where he speaks to Petracca. Fantastic listen & a good insight into his feelings on ourāforward'sā & also the team ..early exit from finals etc. Some of our more āpessimistic ā supporters would do well to listen !

PRESEASON TRAINING: Wednesday 7th February 2024
Pretty much every new player we have bought into our club (not the young draftees) have said our training standards & fitness are elite. Even Grundy alluded to it so whilst they might be fit.. theyāre not āMelbourne ā fit.

PRESEASON TRAINING: Friday 2nd February, 2024
Not sure of the correlation between club sport or chastising your child equates to AFL at the elite level and at the pointy end of the season š¤Ø

Forward Line & Backup Ruck Issues Going into 2024 and beyond ...
You have completed misread my posts (as you are prone to do). The inference was we should have looked for a mature aged ruckman & hadnāt done that. My point was they would have done their due diligence on whoever was available & in the end Fullerton was the best available (in the clubās opinion ).

Forward Line & Backup Ruck Issues Going into 2024 and beyond ...
Thatās your opinion & taken into consideration he did retire ā¦my opinion is that ā he wasnāt quite up to itā. Not sure that if there was so much āgenuineā interest by different clubs & us..he either didnāt get an offer or the club (s) knew his knees werenāt up to it. Hardly think weād need another older player with dodgy knees.

So Melb did their due diligence & chose not to go down that path ..š¤

Forward Line & Backup Ruck Issues Going into 2024 and beyond ...
Is this the PA Scott Lycett whose 2023 season was wrecked with knee injuries forcing him to hang up his boots at the end of the season or is there another one ?

Forward Line & Backup Ruck Issues Going into 2024 and beyond ...
Interested who the experienced ruck back up that was available in the draft that we didnāt look at ?

Forward Line & Backup Ruck Issues Going into 2024 and beyond ...
Iām assuming you mean BB & TMac. If so (& Iām sure this has been said ad nauseum) they are premiership players & deserve to see out their contacts & more importantly for the club to honour them. I still think the JMac decision all those years ago broke our club at the time ā¦

PRACTICE MATCH: Sunday February 18th 2024 @ Casey Fields
Maybe because our preseason is effectively a week shorter ?
