It would have been “scary” to them how we transitioned the ball out of the centre with ease ..often. It maybe difficult on the TV to see the game as a whole but we matched it with them for 3/4 giving me the feeling we could also be “one of the teams to beat”.

Melb played an incredibly exciting game of footy. One of the most exciting for a very long time. Footy is a winter game ..you’re not supposed to sit in sunshine & you will get rain at times & wind & it will be cold. Everyone can give any excuse they want but as much as the result was heartbreaking I walked away so excited for what is coming and that very strange emotion of “hope”. For those that were lucky enough to go & see the first game ..the new young talent ..the regeneration of our “older” talent ..I’m sure the cold/wind/rain didn’t matter one iota .

Not sure I critiqued their style of play ..just stated that I prefer not to watch them …

I guess it’s in the eye of the beholder because I find them so unpalatable to watch. They epitomise so many traits in this generation I can’t stand. Arrogance .. lack of respect & the “me me” culture. As I’ve said before ..I found the young recruits from Richmond much more humble which is probably Yze’s influence rather than that very unlikeable Mitchell

Did you go to the nth Melb practice match & watch him play against Xerri …more than serviceable & will do the job if needed. So def a fringe 23 player (of which when all fit we have a few )

What do you even mean ? Disco is still a light bodied forward ..makes no sense to have 2 of them hence AJ in got that physicality. We also don’t want JVR throwing his body around too much just yet …I def don’t want Oscar Allen & his knees …

I love this . This is the time to play our young stars ..showcase our talent. It’s the first round (for us) they’ll be fit and hungry. A win is always important but I’m really keen to see how they stack up against a good team . Remember GWS are also playing young players due to suspension & injury. AJ to add physicality in our forward line & back up ruck ..Henderson a mature small forward (desperately needed) Langford mid/forward & Lindsay sub would be my thinking. I’m excited..Go Dees

Also ..I don’t like Richmond but compare the celebrations of their young players compared to Hawthorn.. I automatically loathed Hawks more because of the arrogance & the “me me” celebrations.

It’s a praccy match. We would have trialled players in diff positions…diff game play scenarios anticipating maybe players going down mid match or responding to another teams play at the time. We def wouldn’t be showing the AFL exactly what we intend to do. It was also 35deg & very windy so let’s not get too in depth about it…

He had a back spasm so not through a game incident. Could get that playing anywhere & it’s happened before . Made a massive difference in how we had to restructure & we effectively played with 1 player short in very trying conditions..

Found it quite reassuring to hear Tom Hawkins say it took him 5 years to find his feet . He would have been a bigger sized player earlier but still took him 5 years …

We had a terrible 2024 preseason ..so many players were either injured or sustained injuries & possibly made the team because we didn’t have a lot of choice . 2025 most players have done 80..% of the running .. late season ending injuries to McAdam & AMW ( depth players ) but no best 22 injuries that will impact their preseason
