Farewell Steven May
I’m sad about this. It was the right decision for all but I loved him playing in the red and blue. I wish him happiness and a good life for him and his family. Thank you Mayzie ♥️💙

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs Richmond
We all see the game thru our own eyes. I honestly thought both Laurie & Tholstrup did some really good things. It was windy ..a lot of mistakes from both sides but in my humble opinion we looked a class above. I’m looking forward to watching their games develop over the next few months but they both looked ok.

Agreed & even TMac but Petty was rusty & outsized & he was who we had.

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs Richmond
Can’t tell if I’m joking ..broken & frail !!!! I was literally a metre away from him ..he is huge ..he was running ..he was jumping. If you listen to the commentary they were remarking on his fitness. I don’t think he’ll go through the season without an injury but right now he is fit. Maybe if TMac didn’t have to play back up ruck & forward he would have been better & we don’t have the luxury of May so we had a rusty Petty who was never going to beat him one on one.

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs Richmond
Name me one defender who would out body Lynch ..he is huge . When our defence worked as a unit we could contain him …one on one Lynch will outbody most defenders .

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs Richmond
Just as an aside …Viney was there with his new Nike runners which added about 2cm to his height. He was running up & down the stairs with the coaches which was rather encouraging

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs Richmond
So you’re writing off these players on the basis of 2 practice games. I’ve been at both. CJ has played over the 2 matches ..1 game. New club..new game plan ..let’s give him some more time. I liked a lot of his game. There were a few supporters around us who were going to the three games (ho figure) & it was interesting to hear their comments…a lot more flattering than some of our supporters. Tholstrup was more than serviceable as was Laurie. Not everyone is a Windsor ..Langford etc but they were ok. Our game is a work in progress…some fantastic signs but def a lot to work on. Let’s be a bit more forgiving.,,

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs Richmond
Twice he kicked badly & I was right there. Gosh harsh criticism for a player who is coming from another club & is learning our system. He had some amazing intercept marking …broke lines ..exciting.

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs Richmond
I loved his game but his kicking was “iffy”. However after a couple of howlers he hand balled ‘ then kicked long. Given he only had half a game last week & again today hopefully he becomes more comfortable . However his speed.. intercept marking was excellent. I overall liked Petty’d game but he was rusty & made a few “blues” but promising,

Jeffo Ready to Soar in 2026
I have zero interest in arguing whether a 21 yr old forward player is going to make it. If he was 23/24 I might give you some interest but the penchant for supporters like you to write off /dismiss players (especially tall key position players) so early in their career is laughable. I can tell already that you def weren’t at the game yesterday so maybe I’ll give you some leeway because the rather inadequate TV coverage certainly didn’t give you the same “viewings” of the match

Jeffo Ready to Soar in 2026
Very harsh. He gets in good places..he def tackled hard & he is a smart player. The forward line is new ..they’ll take awhile to gel & work together but I’m def not writing him off. He’s def never going to be our No 1 big forward but there is a place for him.

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs North Melbourne
I thought we were much fitter than North. It was so hot out there & in the 4th qrt we were still running on top of the ground. Surprisingly I also thought that Heath gave first use many times to our midfielders. We are def a “work in progress “ but the takeouts for me were Pickett No 2..Heath & Luker. I didn’t expect them to be so competitive at this level. Win or lose this season I’m pretty sure we’ll be watching very entertaining football & it will be exciting to watch the team & the many young & new players evolve.

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs North Melbourne
First time I’ve been to Casey & was pleasantly surprised. Amazing ground ..no wind & facilities were fine. We were near the “beer queue “ which was very busy & quite unhappy when everything alcoholic was sold out just after half time (they did do a booze run) Talked to a few people in the queue who were locals ..no affiliation to either team but just tuned up to have a look. You have to think that if they’re watching the Picket’s & a few others …they were so exciting..maybe you pick up some supporters. Some posters have criticised our defence ..totally disagree they were so solid. They had Larkey ..Darling ..Zurhaar & they were blanketed. Lever was jumping like he used to ..Turner ..TMac ..CJ & Howes ..fantastic. It’s a practice match but if I was a North supporter I would be shattered.

Season Preview - The Mongrel Punt
Great read about the discussion of our under 22 yr brigade. Mentioned all of them really even those who we haven’t seen play too much. Very bullish about them & thinks they should be the basis of our next tilt. All positives there tempered by expectations. There were another 15 questions ..they do a very deep analysis of our whole team …it’s very well done. One question was re Petty going back & he was unequivocal in his support of Kings decision to send him there . One of the best decisions he feels. Will help the set up of May?/Lever etc & feels that by getting Miochek we can now do this. In all I felt it was very a positive analysis especially with our recruiting and younger players. Holds the same opinion as a lot of our posters… we have a lot of promise & have done a lot right & it depends on how our senior/younger players play as to where we will finish but future is bright
